Booked online following positive reviews on Tripadvisor. We had driven from Santander and although we had SatNav with us the hotel would not have been difficult to find. We used the Hotels car park - 18 euro per 24 hours, which getting into and out of was 'entertaining' Located in the basement there is one single car width ramp for access both in and out, the rule being cars exiting have preference, even if you have to reverse back up and out ! Once down the ramp space is tight and spaces small. It's also not Hotel operated so they can't reserve a space for you. We parked and didn't move the car until departure from the Hotel.
Check-in was effortless, our room was clean if a bit small, everything in working order, nice bathroom, but the heat - outside it was 19C inside in the 30s, the aircon had not been switched to summer mode yet so all you got was cooler fresh air not chilled, this did not do much to reduce the temperature and the window had a sensor to turn off the aircon when it was opened. I slept on top of the bed, which was comfy. Breakfast was quite lavish in the choice available the coffee was good. Reception staff were helpful.
The hotels location was reasonable, Bilbao being quite compact most of what you wanted was within a 10 minute walk, we went to the Gugenheim there was no queue for tickets at about 1.30 ish, on a Thursday.

Nicely located. Very good breakfast. Rooms are nice, clean and welcoming. Nothing really special but everything met the expectations. 2 improvement points: samples in the bathroom are really cheap. Service at the desk can be anonymous and a bit cold.

Hesperia Bilbao is a nice hotel in the city centre of Bilboa. The hotel is close to the river and it is close to the Guggenheim museum of Bilboa. The service at the hotel is very nice and the roms are also very nice.

Hesperia Bilbao is a centrally located hotel close to the Guggenheim. The check-in went smooth and the entire hotel is very modern. The breskfast was exceptionally good and the staff was very helpful & kind. I strongly recommend this hotel to any one visiting Bilbao.

I booked this hotel based on it's location and having onsite parking available. It is by the river a short walk from both the Guggenheim museum and the city centre. A couple of minutes away is the funicular that will take you up the hillside behind the hotel and offer a good view of the city layout below.
The hotel parking is underground with lifts that take you up to all the floors. The parking is very convenient but at €18 for a day it's also quite expensive.
Check-in was easy and quick and requests for information from the staff about restaurants or attractions in the area, were all answered and marked on a map that they also supplied. The room I was given was a good size with 2 single beds, a desk, TV, mini bar, armchair/lounger etc. and a nice bathroom. All decent and functional, but nothing special. The only issue I had was that the room was far too hot and it took a long time for the air conditioning to get it down to a reasonable temperature to sleep. Because this was only functional when the keycard was entered in the slot beside the bedroom door, it would switch off if you went out for the day and you were left with the same problem on returning. This was resolved by leaving one of the two keycards supplied, permanently in the slot if I went out.
The price for this hotel is very reasonable considering it's location as a base for sightseeing and, although it has everything you would need and does everything well, there is nothing outstanding.
