We stayed for one night only before ferry crossing. Hotel was nice and clean with english speaking staff which were very helpful. Recently renovated with brand new furniture and decor.
Situated opposite sports centre with busy public car park and off-street parking which was a problem to find a decent space close to hotel. Very cheap room rates but did the job!

Everything is clean and the room was comfortable. Very easy to get the train to and from town (8 min.). Great value for price. Also there is free street parking available outside the hotel and across the street in a car park.

PDC is a tidy, cheap hotel that is overall very comfortable. The services are good too. However, we had a room at the front of the building and it was very noisy. Closing the windows made it quiet but hot. Shame - sleep deprivation made it hard to enjoy some of our days in the region.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the building away from the road.

I should start by saying we were attending the Bilbao BBK live music festival which meant that all of the value accommodation in the city was booked and very expensive eg 48 Euro for a bed in a dormitory! At 43 years old my dormitory days have passed me by!. Price wise we paid 18 Euro a night per person in a twin bedded room.
The Don Claudio has been refurbished this year and now offers twin and double rooms either with or without en suite. We had a room without a bathroom and on our floor 6 rooms shared 2 bathrooms and this presented no problem. The room was very clean and a daily maid service is available if required. Both the room and the bathrooms had been decorated this year. The hallway and reception had been refurbished to a contemporary style. On the exterior the building was a little tatty but who cares!
The Pension is located in a suburb 3km from the centre. We walked it one day but we were experiencing very hot weather, 28 degrees, and it was hard work. Nonetheless at other times of the year it would be a pleasant stroll along a newly refurbished river bank area. The Pension is however about 100m from a local train station. Come out of the station entrance and carry straight on down some steps until you reach the road and the DC is 20m on your left. Trains run very 15 mins and take 3 mins to the San Memes area or 9 mins to the Abando for the old town etc.
On leaving the hotel the area to the right is OK with a good Supermarket, banks, locals bars and restaurants. It is a residential suburb though so not really going for the overseas tourist market but all you need is there.
So overall the DC offers a very good price for quality offering. It is good if you have a car because on street parking is available for free. If I was coming to Bilbao again I would maybe choose to stay in the centre but that would depend on the price.

I was passing through Bilbao for one night and needed somewhere cheap and clean to stay. I taxied from the airport ( should have got the bus) and stayed for one night. It's out of town, there are a couple of decent tapas bars around the area. There is a taxi rank just up the road. I taxied to the bus station. Next time it will be easier and overall cheaper to just stay in the city to get to and from transport hubs using public transport.

I stayed in an en suite double room. The heating worked well but we had to turn it on ourselves on arrival. The beds were comfortable.

Bathroom was clean and nice.

The central location allowed to explore the old town without ever worrying that we'll have to walk a long way back :)

The lift wasn't working and the room had a musky smell so we were not too impressed. The area is not good and there were local youths in groups standing in doorways late at night.

We had to book this place because they accept dogs (not that easy to find) but it's only suitable for a one night stop.
