The atmosphere was very elegant. The food was on point, every appetizer and entree was excellent. Little odd that they serve alcohol but not mixed drinks. Really enjoyed Russ our server.

Absolutely fabulous, 6 course tasting menu with wine, 3 out of 6 where 2 michelin star rating for sure, 1 was 1 star and the other 2 worth mentioning, all in all outstanding.
Excellent evening. The restaurant was very comfortable. The cooking was excellent. The sommelier met our request for a lower alcohol red wins and the wine from Mallorca was delicious.
Went to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and the experience was great. There might be a bit of confusion as to whether La Despensa De Etxanobe has a Michellin Star. There are essentially two parts to the restaurant: one is Etxanobe Atelier (that has menus that...have been awareded the Michelin Star) and the La Despensa de Etxanobe which hasn’t. However, we went to La Despensa and the food was incredible. The restaurants share the same kitchen, so you can imagine the quality of the food. There are a few tasting menus to choose from, as well as A La Carte. We went for the traditional Basque food one. They are obviously much cheaper than the Atelier’s menu, but still delicious!More
My husband and I had a wonderful Anniversary dinner here. We decided to go with one of the set menus, the "Bilbao". All the courses were delicous, but especially the anchovie lasagna and the desert which was Josefina Maguregui's Molleux. We were impressed with the...quality of food and presentation. I would highly recommend for a special occasion. The service was also impeccable.More
Yesterday my wife and had lunch. The Service is top and the meal too. An absolute recommendation. We had the Bilbaao menu, the food is high class and the wine served with is very good. We will go back.
We really enjoyed dinner at this restaurant! If only we had more time, I would have definitely returned to try their sister restaurant, Atelier! Food : every dish was delicious! Portions were also very generous. Their plating was also well presented. Atmosphere : nice, cosy...and high end. Value : what a steal!!! Service : the only setback was the service, the waiters did not really speak English so we had a little difficulty communicating. Overall : Highly highly recommended, a solid and super delicious meal!More
What a dispiriting experience. The food was solid. It just wasn't amazing or particularly memorable. I read the reviews. Saw the hype and was expecting to be vowed by an amazing meal. Instead, I got a fairly routine new-American (or California cuisine) meal despite ordering...the basque tasting menu. I experienced indifferent service serving indifferent food. At this price point I would not recommend. I was also taken aback by the very poor service. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside.More
My husband and I booked this restaurant for our last night in Bilboa based on previous reviews. We went for the Bilboa tasting menu - a five course tasting menu with wine included. The food was AMAZING. We thoroughly enjoyed every course . The service...was also very good and while the cost of the menu might be a little pricey it was worth every Euro. We finished off the night with a couple of drinks from the extensive bar. One of the highlights was the owner Fernando (who also owns the Michelan star restaurant a few doors down) taking the time to welcome and chat to his diners - a lovely touch. We would most definitely recommend this fantastic restaurant.More
This restaurant in Bilbao is wao !!! We were a party of 8. Every dish, appetizers, main courses and even desserts were at another level. The attention of the staff, every single details, perfect. Thank you for a very special evening and dining experience. Congrats...!More
Outstanding. On a par with any restaurant in the world. Every other dish on the tasting menu was “the best thing I’d ever eaten “. We did the 12 course tasting menu in the Atelier’s side. Wine pairing was amazingly affordable (1/2 of a similar...experience in USA). Go.More
Excellent service, great food. Had the fish soup and anchovies to start which were both delicious. Mains was tuna cheeks and hake filled with langoustines. All delicious and atmosphere was nice. Only small point is that the mains did not come with good sides/veg portion...and there were no sides /veg available to add from the menu.More
We had the Menu Bilbao, a 6 course tasting menu including 2 wines. Every course was creative, perfectly prepared and appropriately sized. Service and decor were impeccable. Easily worthy of a Michelin star (as held by its big brother the Atelier).
We booked this restaurant prior to our arrival in Bilbao, due to the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and their website. It was also recommended by our hotel. The lobster salad was sublime with a very generous amount of lobster. The strip loin steak was cooked...perfectly with beautiful buttery hassleback potatoes. Asparagus were lightly battered and good, and the cream of mushroom with truffle surprise was delicious. The restaurant was busy and we mentioned to the Manager that we felt slightly ignored on a couple of occasions. The owner, Fernando Canales instantly appeared at our table and was charming and apologetic. He produced a complimentary pineapple dessert which was light as a feather and also delicious. This quick response is why we rated the restaurant five stars overall. It was always going to get five stars for food.More
Best id the best in the Basque country. Spectacular meat, fish and all. Extraordinary quality of produce, excellent wine list and good service. Can’t ask for more
