“monte igueldo hotel”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

Everyone had to queue to get into the dinning room for breakfast both days, the poor breakfast staff were stressed, only three people there for everyone, I sympathised, they were working very hard trying but there were simply not enough tables or staff working so as to cope, there is a massive balcony adjoining the hot dinning room with the doors closed which would have accommodated at least another 8 more tables. The view is one of the best in the world and I have been around a bit of it, but the internet connection is still somewhere back in the mid 90's, it is simply terrible, don't go there if you need to be connected on. The management are in complete denial about this, in fact the hotel is clean and nice, and so it should be at 180 euro a night, the price of a can of coke 3.6 euros, that gives you an idea. This beautifully located hotel on the top of a mountain with views to die for needs some serious management changes to warrant the prices they charge, the current management are completely out of touch with their own hotel and have their heads in the clouds!

Chose the hotel for the view - was not disappointed. The room had a small balcony, which was nice. The air conditioning didn't work properly, and the shower pressure was abysmal. The water was scolding hot, if not turned to the absolute "cold" setting, but then the pressure suffered. The result was a stream that could be matched by an old man with prostate issues. When informed of the problems, the staff was understanding, but offered no compensation or reduction in price - which is the biggest issue, the hotel is overpriced. Even the breakfast costs 16 Euros, which is steep for what was served (basic continental breakfast).

All in all, loved the view. Calm place. Overpriced. Less than modern. Issues with shower pressure and air conditioning.

Stunning views, great value and wholesome food.

Welcoming customer service happy for us to extend our stay.

Funiculaire takes you down within easy walking distance into San Sebastian.

Strongly recommend staying at the hotel, we will be coming back next summer :)

We stayed at a priviledge room for 3 nights, amazing view over the bay and city, quite spectacular. Our room was nicely decorated and in good condition, comfy beds and a balcony (recommended). Rest of the hotel are in need of renovation.
There is a nice pool and free parking. You have to go by funicular to get to the beach and frim there It's a long way (40 min) walk to the old town.

This hotel offers unique views over the bay of San Sebastian which can be reached by a 10-15 Euro taxi ride (it is too far to walk) The rooms are what should be expected of a 4 star and were clean comfortable and had good facilities. The price of the hotel reflects the location, if it was in another location then it would be very over priced. Don't expect a high end 4 star hotel because it simply is not! Its a mid range hotel in an excellent location. Would we stay again? For the views, yes!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a balcony room which overlooks the bay

Great location, if the finuculaire works. NOT a 4 star hotel. No kettle in rooms- unless you upgrade twice. The manageress wants you to pay for tea/coffee. Accor hotels in France are so much better. I asked to see the manager on three successive days to provide feedback. She failed to show up. That type of disregard & arrogance I don't accept in a supposedly 4 star hotel. Good breakfast & some, nice helpful staff. Will not stay here again.

Room Tip: Take twice your budgeted funds or stay in a French hotel. We have better views at home & are not...
