“Great Location”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Nice hotel in a great location. The lady at the concierge desk was extremely friendly and helpful. It's like she knew us all her life. She even went to the trouble of calling a restaurant friend of hers to see if he could cook us paella because no restaurants did proper paella in San Sebastian (the best is in Barcelona she tells me). She couldn't get hold of him but the gesture was nice. She also helped us sort out trouble with our hire car who over charged our credit card.

Room Tip: ask for a sea facing room

We stayed for 4 nights in an ocean view room overlooking La Concha. The view was fantastic.
Bed was super comfy and the room was a good size.
Loved having our pre dinner drinks in the bar downstairs overlooking the beach- staff in the bar and at reception were excellent. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Good value.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and book a ocean view.

This is a great hotel. The sea view from our attic room with terrace was spectacular and worth the extra money. The room has a large terrace with a table, chairs and lounge chairs great for watching the sunset. The bathroom is luxurious. The shower cabin is very large, the water pressure is
strong and I also appreciated the handle bar.
The beautiful La Concha beach is right outside the hotel so you don't have to drive and worry about parking as with other beaches in the area. The hotel provides plush beach towels free of charge. The service was outstanding and I would like to thank the staff for truly remarkable stay.

Stayed here for one night with my wife and son recently. Got a great room overlooking the beach (#214). The sofa turned into a bed for my son and we still had lots of space. Very friendly and helpful staff all through the hotel. Hotel has a Victorian feel without seeming too dated. Didn't eat here, but did have a reasonably priced, industrial sized gin and tonic at the patio bar. We all agreed that we will stay here on our next visit to the city.

This hotel is located on a beautiful and historical horse shoe bay and is surrounded by restaurants and a marina and quay to one side.
We had a room overlooking the bay and the view was beautiful. I believe the hotel is of the Victorian period and has been fully restored. The rooms are furnished to a high standard which makes for a comfortable stay. We used the busy bar but ate elsewhere simply because there are so many choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The croissantarie across the road had the best pastries/coffee you would ever wish for.
The location is perfect to explore Basque country and is close to the French border. It seems that northern Spain is a well kept secret.
The rooms that do not face the bay overlook the town and may be noisier. I imagine the room rates reflect this. Personally the rooms overlooking the bay are worth the premium.
San Sebastian, or Donestria in Basque, is steeped in history and has a very large fort built on the hillside overlooking the bay. The British, French and Spanish fought over it through the centuries. It is worth exploring but have walking shoes for a somewhat strenuous uphill walk. Basque is a separate language from Spanish and is totally different. Each town has two names.
Parking is valet serviced offsite which suited us because you can walk everywhere. If you are thinking of street parking, well, best of luck!!
We had a very enjoyable three days and recommend it.

Room Tip: Bayside best view. Backside best price.

This historical hotel is near to all the best restaurants in the old town, casco viejo. The Concha beach is in the front of the hotel. The service in the hotel is first class. Breakfast is pricey but as excellent as in five star hotels. The "must" hotel in San Sebastian!

The positives include a great view and wonderful location. But that's about it. The hotel itself isn't particularly memorable, the room resembles a closet and it's extremely expensive. Choose elsewhere.
