“Met our expectations - good value, close to the beach but in quiet area”
Reviewed 22 July 2010

We had a family room here for 2 nights, which was basically two separate rooms. We really enjoyed the breakfast which was a bargain at EUR 3.50 / person. We liked the location -- in a quiet corner of town, but you can walk to the beach in less than 10 minutes. To get to the old town or the train station, it would probably take 20 minutes. Very friendly and helpful staff.

This place is a bargain in San Sebastian and a nice find.

We booked a family room and a double for my adult family of 6 people. The family room was really two separate rooms with a large family table and chairs as well, which was great to socialise around and organise ourselves! Although we'd asked for a double in the other room, we ended up with a twin, so maybe others should be a bit more specific when booking
The staff are fantastic and very helpful. The rooms are basic, as is the breakfast, but certainly very clean, tidy and comfortable. I would stay here again.

My husband and I made a quick unplanned trip to San Sebastian this spring. From Bilbao we attempted an internet search for a small, cozy, affordable hotel and came up short, so we decided just to drive to the city and cast our fates to the (very notable) wind! Destiny was on our side, as we passed a small sign for the Hotel Record on our second circumnavigation of the town. It was just what we were looking for: a character hotel with free parking and easy walking access to downtown, the beach, and good places to eat. It's a family-owned business, and the proprietoress went well out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed and wanted. We don't ever expect good soundproofing in places like this, but we were surprised how quiet it was in our room at the back. We will definitely book ahead when we plan our return to this wonderful city!

This was just about the only hotel in San Sebastian that was available for less than 200 euros when we were making reservations. We had some trepidations about staying there, but we are glad we decided to do so. It is certainly nothing fancy, and I rated it 4 stars based on that expectation and the good price for San Sebastian. We paid 88 euros double, 72 single, including free parking in a small lot that can require some juggling to get out of. The previousTripAdvisor reviews were accurate, I think—very simple but cute building, more like a house, in a location that involves somewhat of a walk to the old city but much of it can be along the surfer (Zurriola) beach, and very close to the Gros area that includes some of the best tapas (pinxtos) bars. The walls are very thin and the bathrooms modest, but the staff are very nice and helpful.

I stayed in this hotel a while back while travelling back to the UK from Gijon.I found it to be a wonderful Spanish hotel, simple yet wonderful.Nice balcony too...seems to be privately owned and the owners were very hospitable without being intrusive. It is at the far end of the bay and is a lovely walk into town from here.San Sebastian itself is fantastic city, wonderful bars, superb surf for bodyboarding or surfing.A magical place.

  • Liked — Spainish feel don't expect luxury though,very reasonable rates,location,staff.
  • Disliked — no complaints at all.

A great hotel and a good base to explore San Sebastian. We stayed here for a week in June 2008. The hotel is situated on the Monte Ulia side of the city about a 5 minute walk to Zurriola beach which is great for sunbathing swimming and surfing. It is about a 25 minute walk to the old town where there are numerous bars and tapas restaurants although there are also very good restaurants much closer to the hotel. There is a good bus service around the city. The hotel is very comfortable, rooms are modest but have all that is necessary and is good value for a 2 star hotel. The only criticism would be that our bed was very hard which we found uncomfortable and there was noise from adjoining rooms and guests returning late at night although the hotel does remind guests to be respectful in this regard. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of cheeses, ham, cereals, breads and fruit with freshly made coffee/tea to order. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Free parking was a bonus.

  • Liked — Friendly staff, breakfast
