We found San sebastian to be very over priced on a whole, but as it was the week of San fermin we had expected it. But for what we got this was far far too much. €306 got us a street view room, so small we could hardly unpack for the three days we were here for. The hotel was clean and the wifi was free but that was as good as the plus sides of this hotel got.
To make matters worse next door there were building works that were so loud they may as well have been in our room with us. The noise was too much, luckily we had planned to be out every day while here. The drilling was never ending.
The bathroom was very small, there was no air-conditioning only a fan which was irritatingly noisy.
We were offered parking next door by reception, at a cost of €18 per 24 hrs which was a reasonable amount so proceeded to park there, once we realised we were unable to collet our car early the next morn (6am to drive go Pamplona for the bull run) we asked to remove the car, the guy informed us where it was and told us the keys were in it..... The keys had been left in the window!!!!! So the car was unlocked parked and the keys were on full show - needless to say we parked elsewhere! We do not recommend parking at the garage next door to this pension - regardless of how cheap it may seem!!!
This is not somewhere I will return to or recommend.
One plus - it's a short walk to the very busy beach. Negative - too far from old town.

Room Tip: Ask to not face the street

Excellent location with a tiny walk to the beach. Wonderful comfortable boutique rooms that are kept very clean. Wifi available in the rooms. The service was great and the people are very helpful. Very happy with this place.

Only two negatives-

The bathroom was very small and difficult to use the sink at times. It had no fan so it smelt very damp/mouldy after a day of having wet towels inside but the cleaners sort that out with ammonia daily.

The safe cost one euro to use each time you open it so its ok to store things for your whole stay but no good for storing valuables daily (ie take them in and out)

Other than that it would have got 5 stars!

this hotel is very close to the beach about 5 mins walk. it is very clean and our family room had ample room for three beds in it and another fold away bed. the lady at the reception was very friendly and helpful and there is a beautiful cat which hangs out in the foyer and made my daughter's holiday. i think this hotel could have a higher rating than one star.

Best thing about this hotel: close walk to the biggest and best beach in San Sebastian and it is very clean and chic.
Rooms and bathrooms are very small though which didnt bother us but might be difficult for some people. Owner was lovely.

The hostel building was renovated when we were there in Summer 2010.
The room was bit small and we could not use the balcony nor open the window (reconstruction work) and all this for 80Euros/ night. Well, this is San Sebastian in high season. This was the only free room which we found and could afford it.

Besides that it was a very nice place.

Pillar, the owner, is an extremely nice and hospital and helpful.

Toilettes etc were clean so we had no problem with the fact that we had a room with a shared bathroom.

Pity that there was no breakfast but in San Sebastian you do not need it.

We stopped at Pension Bellas Artes as it was ranked number 1 on TA. Although the lady we met was very nice, it felt like a doctors office and the beds might fit two children at best. It was Sunday afternoon so it was a bit risky to go looking elsewhere, but we were happy we did. Pillar is an excellent host and the Pension Easo is very comfortable and a great deal for the price. Two blocks off the beach and 10 minutes walk from the old town. It is perfect. The location TA puts it isn't exactly correct, it is next to Mamma Pizza

The pension is great, clean and modern. The rooms are small but smartly furnished. The safe is 1 euro, each time you open it. But you just don't need it, the staff is great.

There is only one major disappointment: there are several pubs and disco's in the surroundings. The Spanish go out really late, so there was screaming and shooting all night long on Friday and Saturdaynight. We were really happy on Sunday; much less noise, only some talking till 3 AM.

One more thing: the parking is really expensive: €18 a day!
