Required a decent lodging with free parking and this hotel fit the bill. Initially wanted to book Hotel Leku as reviews of the view were very good there but it was booked out. Hotel Avenida fulfilled our requirements perfectly. The room was overlooking the car park but for €80 couldn't complain, I wasn't there for the room and the city was a short bus ride away. If you're able bodied, the walk to the town is pretty pleasant also.

Room Tip: I don't know if the rooms with a view charged more but I wouldn't be willing to pay more for...

in reality wished to stay in a pension or even one-star hotel in downtown, closed to everything but with their highest rates plus parking, expenses were high over expected... SS became very expensive in the last years...

Is located side perched on Mount Igeldo a little bit isolated, walking down to the beach and passing through a nice neighborhood (Ondarreta) takes 10 minutes; if walking all the way through the coastline (Ondarreta and La Concha beaches) reaching downtown, the city's old part, takes around 50 minutes, but 50 minutes of pleasant walking... lots of people walk there, jog or bike through that promenade... if dont't want to walk, the bus-stop is close to the hotel (bus number 16, fare 1,55 euros each way) or take a cab either way from or to the hotel costs less than 10 euros, not that bad...

Is a nice three star hotel, nice spacious rooms complete of everything needed, towels, toiletries, a minibar, efficient working wifi, safebox but have to say that they aren't immaculate clean, you know some little dust in corner areas, some little painting coming off from the walls not a major disturb... but the best is the view, most of the rooms have this splendid panoramic view of SS... very nice to sit down, relax and watch the sunrise or sunset from the room with a drink... they have also a pool (nice to use during summertime), a gym which we never used, the same for breakfast services... no restaurant in the hotel but just outside the hotel there is one restaurant.

Reception staff is helpful and efficient... informed them about the shutters from our window which didn't work and the toitlet dripping; was solved when we were back.

Our stay, during bank holidays but low season was good, I will think the same with the mid-season but the high season (July-August) I don't know how hot can be... found 2 (yes 2!!) tower fans inside the closet... definetely would avoid SS on those months...

For us the major plus was the parking... parking in SS can be very expensive for entire days and the parking inspectors in the streets are always around... not a place to stay if travelling with public transport, this is a very good place to stay if travelling with own vehicle...

we chose this hotel because it accepts dogs and is only 5 minutes walk [downhill] to the beach. Reception impressive and rooms are lovely, spacious and clean with an excellent shower. Downside is that there is nowhere just outside to take the dog late at night or first thing - there is a little patch of grass across the road - but great news that the nearest beach is dog friendly.
The hotel has no catering facilities so its a shame there is no tea and coffee in the room. There is an expensive restaurant next door which opens at 8.30pm or you can order in a pizza/beefburger. Found the staff very friendly. Charge for dog is E22 per night but we queried this as expensive and they revised it to E10.

Room Tip: ask for sea view

The room was specious and clean and it had a lovely view. I didn't like the fact that the heater goes on automatically and there's no way to turn it off. We had to keep our window open because it was way too hot for us. The staff was not overly friendly. In a residential area and a hike to town.

Hotel Avenida has a lot of good qualities. It was one of the more affordable hotels in a pricey location. It had a nice small pool and area to sunbathe. The room was large with a well sized bathroom and powerful shower. It is not in the centre of San Sebastian but I really liked that about it. It was an enjoyable walk down to the beach and the main centre and a fairly regular bus for when you are feeling lazy. The only bad thing about this was that the bus stopped at 10:30pm at night and considering San Sebastian only comes alive after 9pm we ended up taking taxis back to the hotel at night. The wifi was also excellent quality.

There were a few bad qualities. There was no air conditioning in our room, just a fan which blew hot air around. This caused the room to get quite warm at night and this was out of the hot season. I am unsure if every room had this problem but the noise level was unbearable in the mornings. It was possible to hear showers being turned on, people closing (but what felt like banging) doors, people walking and talking down the corridors. This woke me up every morning and left me quite tired. After eating so much in the food haven of San Sebastian, I attempted to work some of it in the hotel's gym. The gym had 3 machines, only one of which (the treadmill) that had power attached to it. The treadmill was unbelievably slippy and impossible to walk never mind run on.

I think I would stay in this hotel again but it would be only for the low price in a pricey location.

This was a great choice of hotel for us on our recent stay in San Sebastian. It is located on a steep slope overlooking the town and from some rooms (one of which was ours) it overlooks the beautiful bay. It is about 10 minutes walk to the beach down the hill and as there is a local bus (number 16) that runs along the seafront and right past the front door of the hotel perfect for the trip back up from the beach! That bus runs twice every hour and runs the whole way down to the "old town".(fixed fare Euro1.45)
The rooms were adequate though small but spotless with good en-suite facilities. The lobby, pool and general areas were clean, bright and attractive and there was a good sized carpark which is free for residents (pay parking in the town near other hotels could cost up to Euro24 per day).
The staff deserve a special mention for their helpfulness as I managed to leave the headlights of my car on overnight, resulting in a flat battery but the staff managed to get jump-leads and the maintenance guy brought his own car around to give me a jump start!! Thanks again and very much appreciated.
The only downside was that there was no restaurant or bar on the premises although for a few hours in the early evening they did have a waitress to serve a drink or tea/coffee in the lobby. Having said that the town itself is brilliant with hundreds of bars and restaurants and a fantastic vibrant but safe atmosphere and a good "party" feeling. We will definitely be back again to San Sebastian and to Hotel Avenida.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over town and bay.

Avenida was the perfect choice for us. Located about 20 minutes walking from lively old town, the hotel is midway up a surrounding hill in Donostia. The view is gorgeous. The bathroom, with nice amenities, is separated from the main living area by a hallway that leads to a spacious bedroom. The lobby is pretty but not too active -- seems a bit under utilized by guests for as pretty as it is. However, after an bustling evening in old town the peacefulness was appreciated. You can use Wi-Fi on your own device for free or, if necessary, you can use one of the hotel's PCs for a small fee per hour. We did not take the full breakfast -- only coffee for 1.20 Euro per cup -- but the offering looked pretty good and the room was comfortable for chatting. The hotel is really a gem as it is quiet, well priced and nicely kept. The pool is good size and tranquil. We will stay here again on our next trip to San Sebastian.
