The city is awsome, good gastronomy and a great nightlife and the Pension Aldemar is beautiful, for sure the best place to stay in San Sebastian, very good located near all the cool places. Very clean and organized. And the staff are the best, very helpfully and friendly. I would definetly come back and recomend this place.

Room Tip: All the rooms are really good.

The rooms are very modern and the location could not be beaten; right next to the old town and also very close to the ocean promenade and biking trail. Joshua the person who runs the place could not have been nicer and more helpful. The only caveat is that the rooms do not have air conditioning; it wasn't a problem for us because we were there in the fall, but keep in mid when booking during warmer months.

What a great little place to stay. The staff--Josu and Conche- were amazing. The location is excellent and close to all the action of the historical city and walking distance to the beaches. My husband and I walked all the way to the palace and to the beaches in the evening. Our room was clean and cozy. Who stays in their room when they are in San Sebastián anyway! Thank you Conche and Josu for taking care of us on this spectacular trip thru Basque Country. We look forward to seeing you both again next year.

Room Tip: Ask for the room the faces the Main Street for a great view of the city.

This pension is acceptable, yet in general hotels in San Sebastian are not value for money. Unless you have a specific desire or reason to stay in San Sebastian, recommend staying outside the city, or somewhere equally as nice, such as Santander.

We stayed at Pension Aldamar for 4 nights. Pros & Cons:

Cons:
There were 3 of us in the room, which was a very tight squeeze. 3 twin beds plus probably 6 inches of space on either side. No air conditioning, which is fine, but they provided us with a fan which was nice. Plus there is a small balcony and you can leave the doors open for a nice breeze from the ocean. Shower leaked a bit. Internet is free but slow.

Pros:
1) the wonderful woman at the front desk (and i'm sure Josu, although I didn't interact with him) and
2) the AMAZING location to the beaches (situated between the surfers beach and la concha), all the fabulous pintxos bars in the old city, and close to the city center with all its fabulous shops. Everything is walkable in San Sebastian, especially at this Pension! It is also close to the bus stop which takes you anywhere.

If you are one or two people this is great. Three people who don't plan on spending a lot of time in your room is fine too. We were happy with our stay! I also recommend using San Sebastian Food for a pintxos tour, the Old City can be confusing and the business is located right down the block, also on Aldamar.

Our stay here was lovely. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and location was perfect, right there in old town and a few blocks from the beach. The staff were polite and from the moment we walked in, the place had a good feel about it. The room was on the smaller side, but not too small for two people. We would stay here again. Good value for money. :)

Room Tip: The tapas in old town are fantastic, but if you are there for more than a few days, go over the brid...

Although the rooms are very comfortable the hotel itself is more like a hostel and at 99 Euro a night a pretty expensive one. When we checked in the guy on reception was very friendly and happy to give us advice on what to see and do in San Sebastian.

We stayed in room one which is right next to the reception area, unfortunately the lady working on reception in the morning had a really loud voice and that was all I could hear from 7am!

Overall a nice place to stay but overpriced.

Room Tip: Stay away from the rooms near the reception area as these are very noisy

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. It has been a pleasure to host you. Since the managment group changed last year, we are trying to improve our service and renovating the Pensión. We made several changes last year, and we are working on isolating more our rooms . All this modifications takes us some time but I confirm you that we are working hard on it.

Thank you for your review and we hope you had an amazing time in San Sebastian! If you need any information or help next time we will be glad to host you again!

Best,

Josu
