Agroturismo Maddiola
Certificate of Excellence

We stayed two nights in September 2013 and this B&B is wonderful. Great people, a beautiful location, excellent breakfast, pleasant room---could not ask for anything better. We loved being high above the ocean and removed from San Sebastian with just an easy drive down to the town.

Ce B&B est merveilleux. L'emplacement, la chambre et le petit-déjeuner sont parfaits.

We stayed at Maddiola during late July 2013. We arrived late and tired from a long car trip and the first thing that hit us was the quiet and the amazing views. After a quick call to the owner (it was lunchtime), she drove up in 5 mins and we were immediately welcomed with kindness. During our three day stay, we felt like we were staying with a family we had known for years, the husband and wife who run the place are incredibly knowledgeable about the area, about great restaurants, attractions and the unique basque culture. They gave us 3 different restaurants we should go to, and each one was amazing - just where the locals go! They organised table bookings and hired paragliding for us too. Their daughter speaks great English, and as our Spanish is pretty average, she was a gem at helping us out. The passion these people have for what they do and their own culture transmits through everything they do. The rooms are cute and the breakfast is ample, fresh, homemade and great to start the day.I cannot sing their praises enough, well done Maddiola! A very special place.

Beautiful rural setting with breathtaking views over the bay. Run by a friendly couple who are very helpful and speak Spanish and French. Rooms are delightful with a balcony.
Breakfast taken overlooking bay and all homemade including cake and the best yogurt ever.
About a 10 minute drive from San Sebastián but well worth it for the surroundings and tranquility.
Enjoyed the Alpacas and their German sheep dogs. A great find.

Took us quite some time to find a special place like this, but it lived up to most of its expectations.

This hotel / b&b's unique selling points are Location, Character and Friendly service. Car definitely required. Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were a definite plus for us.

Breakfast was superb and very reasonably priced, including freshly squeezed orange juice.

Minor weaknesses: some noise issues between apartments & sleep comfort (mattresses). However, overall the positive points overwhelm this minor points and we would definitely return.

We'll come back again. The staff is very kind and helpful. They give very good tips to go around the city.
The views are breath taking. We also loved the alpacas, baby goats and the two german shepherd.
You'll need a car to get there.

We had a difficult time finding this lovely B and B, as Sat Nav tried to take us the off road way! Make sure you get the instructions off their website that takes you the accessible way!
We arrived in torrential rain, but the warm and friendly welcome soon made us forget the trouble we had gone through finding them. The rooms were warm and comfortable. Our room was not overlooking the sea but had a lovely big open but roofed outside area. The view from the front rooms and the breakfast area is stunning and out over the vast ocean. Being in an elevated position the views even in the rain were stunning.
The breakfast was excellent with homemade yoghurt and cake and plenty of fresh fruit. There was unlimited, tea, coffee and hot chocolate available throughout our stay, and the selection of teas was the best I have seen in a while, catering for all tastes! A really nice touch.
They also have a very nice looking spa area, but we were not there long enough to make use of them this time.
A very pleasant stay.

We stayed here for three nights in mid-September, 2012. It was a fantastic experience in every way! The views are outstanding, the grounds are impeccable, the spa is a nice amenity, and the hosts are very accomodating. Although the husband and wife don't speak English, their English speaking children were very helpful. What a nice family!!

As a group of five, and we stayed in an apartment on the second floor. It was spacious and very clean. The breakfast each morning was wonderful, and consisted of fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee cake, fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, and baggette and jams. If we could export a coffee machine like they have back to our house, it would be terrific. It was superb coffee con leche!

This was a perfect location for us to use as a home base as we took day trips throughout the area, including into France. (You should have a car if you stay here.) We didn't realize it when we booked it, but this is along the route of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. We drove a few kilometers to the west and then hiked the Camino route for a a couple of hours down to the town of Orio. The views on this hike were spectacular, as well.

Although we live on a ranch with plenty of critters, our college aged children still had a great time with the farm animals!

The beautiful pictures on the Maddiola website give you a peak into the this wonderful place. We're so glad we didn't stay in the city of San Sebastian. What a shame to have missed these accomodations, and what a value it is!
