We stayed at Pension Alameda for 2 nights in October.
We took the train from Madrid (easy 4 hr ride through amazing desert and then the hills), and easily walked 15 mins to the pension. Just hit the doorbell and they'll buzz you up. There is a lift but its easiest to put 1 person in with the luggage as it's small (but open so not bad for the claustrophobic).
After 3 months traveling in Europe this was such a welcome change! The service was lovely and very welcoming. They couldn't do enough for us, explaining where everything was on the map and recommending places to eat and drink.
The room was perfect - we had a large room with a balcony overlooking the plaza. There's a washing line, a fridge (with free bottled water), a couch, a nice TV with plenty of channels, lots of cupboard space, big bathroom with nice shower, free wifi (get receipt with password from reception).
Location - perfect. In the old town so close to shops, bars, pinxtos, casino, ice cream but still so quiet. Also easy walk to both beaches (surfing beach with 2 inch waves haha, and the famous la concha beach).
We absolutely loved San Sebastian and this accommodation made it even more enjoyable. When we go back I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
PS. Take the funicular up the mountain/hill for amazing views!!More
