An amazing food experience that I recommend 100%. The bonito with melon and jackfruit was probably the best thing I have ever eaten in my life! Only two minor disappointments, which did not change my 5/5 rating: the bread was good but not excellent, and the sommelier was a bit blunt and clearly vey busy. I like wine, I am not an expert so I enjoy when people take time to walk me through what I am going to drink.

To set the context, My wife and I went here with very expectations. We had just watched the chef's table episode and were very excited for the food, service, and overall dining experience.

The biggest issue we had was the service. The waiter who took our order was extremely brief with his explanations of the tasting menu items and the other waitresses who served the food did not take the time to explain the courses as they served them.

Additionally the waiter who took our order said "our tasting menu is very flexible and you can change how you like". I decided to change the main meat course of Pigeon to the ribeye, because I love ribeye. When I changed the course and asked the waiter if he thought the ribeye was great, his response was "whatever- I don't know why you're changing the menu".

The other line I heard him say to all tables was, "if you don't like the food, please let us know and we'll switch it out". A great and very respectable comment from a top restaurant. However, he followed that comment to us with, ".... But you won't not like the food, ok". After leaving us with that, he never returned to our table again.

Overall, the food and presentation was great as expected. However, it was mind-blowing above some of the other pintxos spots that we tried around the old town.

Therefore, for the rude, poor service couple with the good, but know mind-blowing food and massive price tag: I would say to stay away from Arzak or come with much lower than 3 Michelin star expectations.

Group of three visited on Thursday night.
Good welcome and shown straight to table.
Very relaxed atmosphere Maitre d introduced himself and organised a pre dinner drink Lovely prosecco
He explained the menus and when we decided on the tasting menu he explained the various dishes.
One of party does not eat shellfish and he proposed various options . When dishes were agreed he finished by saying to the table 'If there is anything you do not like tell us. It is important to
Arzak that you enjoy your meal '
That was the tone of the night. Exceptional customer care.
The sommelier brought the wine list and inquired our preferences. Asked if we would like to try local wines and recommended a red and white which were both very good at a very reasonable cost.
The meal started with amuse bouche and they set the standard of what was to come.
Prawn groza and the marinated sardine were outstanding.
Prawn with krill was beautiful.
Grilled monkfish was very good and the lamb was the best I ever tasted.
The dessert was a chocolate truffle. Devine
A really great experience
Outstanding food
Superb staff who worked hard to ensure you enjoyed yourself.
A wonderful night Cannot wait to return

It took us a while to make a reservation. They were too slow to reply our emails.
We chose a la carte. They offered us to taste a half serving. They also had a book with wines ,they served and the price was very moderate. Everything was delicious. But.... being a regular in michelin star restaurants I can hardly prove difference in food in a 1 star restaurant or 3 stars one. The bills are nearly the same.

Creative food and an extremely enjoyable dinner service. Very personal service is provided by Helena (Arzak's daughter) who is clearly very involved in a day to day basis with this restaurant.

My only constructive comment for development would be that I think the use of old 'ipad's' as a back drop to the meat / fish course is a little passé.

Thank you again for a wonderful evening and I hope that you continue to go from strength to strength.
