We had an amazing experience having dinner here from beginning to end here. The food was delicious and creative, and their was so much fun in the presentation of each course that it gave a whole new meaning to the term "dinner theatre," - i.e. my husband's prawn starter was served on a glass plate set atop a video screen of ocean waves which had turned into flames by the end of the course. My main of pigeon was served with "feathers" made of potato starch that transformed the dish into a work of art.
Since one of us did not want the tasting menu, it was not possible for only one of us to get it, so our server suggested that we each order half courses, thereby doubling the number of courses we ordered. We each had two half-portion starters, two mains, etc. But there was so much food that I wondered what the whole portions were like. It was a wonderful compromise that resulted in being able to taste much of Arzak's menu that evening.
The service was absolutely impeccable, which is exactly what it should have been. As we were leaving, we were handed a custom-printed menu of everything we had ordered to take with us.
At the end of our meal, we had the great pleasure of meeting Elena Arzak, thereby adding to an already unforgettable evening.
