Playa illetes and playa llevant are the best beaches in formentera.
Formentera , is a remaining european paradise, not easy to get there and very expensive, Is perfect for those who have a iate, and want a cristal clear sea, without leaving europe

We were visiting Ibiza with the family, we decided to visit Formentera for a day (5 Oct). The boat left at 10am and cost us 19 euros each return and we didn't have to pay for the children (bonus) We arrived about 1045 and it was beautiful cruise over to the island. When we got off the ferry we were a little lost and had a wander round and had no idea how to the beaches we had had advertised when sold the ferry ticket. So we went to the taxi rank and pointed to a picture on a leaflet we had and the taxi took us there, the taxi was 14 euro s.

When we arrived we not disappointed, it was paradise and had breathtaking views, it was like something of a postcard. It was fairly quite on the beach, which was perfect for us and the kids. The water was warm and perfect for the children to paddle in as you had to go quite far out to get to waist level.

On the way home we walked up the road to find a bus stop and that cost 3 euros to get back to port and stopped next to were the boat left us. Kicked ourself for walking past this in the first place, but we'll know now for next time!

The ferry left at 5pm.

I am just back from a week in Ibiza with my partner and spent a day in Formentera. The place is stunning.

We got a return ferry ticket to the island for 19 Euros each with the ferry taking around 45 minutes to get here. I believe that quicker ferrys are available but i am not sure on price, we got these tickets on the beach right in front of our hotel.

On getting to Formentera we hired bicycles from a shop just outside the harbour, the bikes were the most basic kind the shop had but were ideal and only cost 6 Euros each for the whole day, excellent value. The bikes come with a chain to secure when you are on the beach and baskets to keep your things in. An 18 Euro deposit was taken by the shop but given back on returning the bikes.

We explored the islands beaches by bike and stopped of at Playa de ses Illetes first of all. This beach is amazing, white sands and beautifully clear, calm waters. The water is very shallow and you have to walk out quite far to get water above your waist. Here we stopped off for a drink at a small beach bar due to the heat. We also decided to share a small pizza. For two Diet Cokes and a margarita pizza it cost us 20 Euros!!! So take some spending money with you. On returning to the harbour there are supermarkets where you can get cheaper supplies if need be.

Our next stop off was Playa de Llevant. This side of the island is a bit different. Instead of calm waters you have lovely waves hitting the beach that myself and partner had a great time playing about in, again the water doesnt get too deep too quick.

All in all a fantastic day out exploring the island by bicycle which i would highly recommend.

this beach is one of the most amazing place I have ever been. But when you are on holiday, what you evaluate is if you’re living a positive experience or not. Unfortunately, there everything was so hurting that I would not like to go there again. In playa de ses Illetes, prices are just crazy! It is unbelievable for me that we almost had to give up to having lunch!! Indeed, in playa de ses illetes there are 3 bar-restaurants, and in all of them you have to pay 20-25 euros for a salad (you can imagine the prices for the other dishes..)!!!! the most economic food were sandwiches (that one that are already prepared, and that you will never never nver choose to eat, if you can choose.. and for 8 euros!) or pizza (frozen and small, for 12 euros. I finally tasted a little peace, and it’s better to not describe it).
The most hurting thing is that they simply treat you as a wallet, not as a person.
I’m sure that, on holiday, everything would like to take some rest, to relax him/herself, and to not have the impression that everyone want to trick him/her. Staying in Playa de ses Illetes was really to hurting for me, that’s why I cannot recommend this place, even if it is really wonderful.. that’s a shame..
