This hotel is so nice that I don't even know where to put all my superlatives.
We arrived very late in kind of an emergency because the hotel we were supposed to stay at had closed their doors the same day. This was in high season so our hopes were pretty low on getting a room at his über trendy hotel. But the receptionist was so nice and friendly and gave us a handicap room at the hotel that they had reserved for later. The morning after Javier, the manager, put us in what they call a standard room. Well let me tell you this, there is nothing standard at hotel Blanco and definitely not their rooms. The room was so chic, spacious and clean with a huge balcony. All the details tell you that there is much effort put in the design of this place. Wood and linen gives the room just the warmth that I miss at other minimalistic design hotels. We had a room facing the woods and this was perfect for us at is was so quiet. The last day they gave us a day room as we had a late check out and this was a superior room. These rooms have a roof terrace with amazing views - my guess is that you can see a breathtaking sunset from there. The cleaning staff is incredible - they are around all day and they will do whatever they can to make your stay comfortable. Very observant to the little things.
The breakfast is more than you need. Gabriel the chef makes the most delicious french croissants and they have all kinds of bread. My husband has gluten intolerance and they made him special bread every day. The chef even gave him his recipe before we left! Maria will make sure you have all you need - she is just so lovely. Just ask her about football to get her going.
The pool area is very clean and stylish. The pool is of saltwater which for me is a big pro. The bar is open all day and they mix heavenly drinks. Maria's coconut smoothie will never be forgotten og neither Andrio's mojito. He said he makes the best mojito on the island and I guess he is right. Try the frozen one too - heavenly. They have sun all day long at the pool and spending a day there is just what you need to relax.
The manager Javier is nothing like what you usually meet at a design hotel of this standard. He does everything he can to help you and you can see him around the hotel all day. You can tell he knows that the human factor is just as important as a stylish vibe. He can give all the advice you will ever need on the island; renting cars or bicycles, beaches, restaurants, the best sunset spots and so on and so on. Just ask, and you will get help.
This hotel has 4 stars but for me it is very close to a 5 star resort. There is no hotel like this on the island and it has a really good location. You walk to the beach in Es Pujols (which is one of the nicest one the island) in just 5 minutes. The center in Es Pujols - well you are basically in the middle of it. On top of this you get good value for money here, Formentera is in general quite expensive. (And yes I am norwegian)
Nothing to think about - just go there. We will definitely be back, Formentera is a treasure of an island and for me Blanco is a treasure too.
Warm regards and big hug from Jeanette a.k.a DJ Sollie and Jørgen.
