“Beautiful sunset”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

Everyone seems to go there for sunset. It's absolutely gorgeous, and you'll shoot tens of photos. There are people who bring boom boxes with their music, though, which I could do without.

“Wonderful sunset”

After a full day on the beach, go straight for sunset to this lighthouse to end perfectly your day. However it is getting more and more crowded...

“Peace and quiet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2012

I love the faro at Berberia. It's at the southern tip of the island, accessible by the road that runs from Sant Francesc past the Es Cap bar and shop (the nearest place to get water and fruit!). The land is barren and rocky, desolate and mysterious. It apparently used to be wooded, but charcoal production in the early part of the last century decimated the land. There has been quite a lot of replanting over the past decade, so a few years from now it may become greener.

The lighthouse itself stands right at the end of the road, on its own. Apart from some graffiti (shame) it's in good shape, and a marvellous backdrop for photography. To the East, a short walk takes you to the ruin of the 18th century Torre des Garroveret. To the West you will find access to sea caves, the scene of hippy parties in the 60s.

I just enjoy walking around taking in the views, the wild plants, the man-made stone sculptures, the cliffs and sea-birds and the occasional yacht in the distance. With the right atmospheric conditions, often after September rains, you can see the mountains of Denia in the west at sunset. I'm told that the North African coast is sometimes visible to the south. But I've never had that chance.

At visit to Formentera would be incomplete without a trip to Cap de Berberia. enjoy.

“Desolate”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2012

At the end of a long narrow single track road this now automated lighthouse is in the most desolate part of the island. Very beautiful just rather sad that some p***s have decided to spray graffiti on the white walls. Unlike the lighthouse at La Mola there is no cafe. But on the way back take a left at the supermarket cross roads and this will lead you to a hotel and beach with a number of small bars.
