Owner description: A beautiful stretch of beach framed by posh five star hotels.

Decided fancy early dinner by the beach so headed down here, accepting it was out of season but that normally means that only better eating places open.
What a spot! Miles and miles of beach, looked clean but the whole place was tacky, loads of tourist shops and tired looking bars, the majority German - had to search for English translations After walking for miles plumped for a very German looking bar just off the front, on basis of "when in Rome" and decided to try some German food - but it was not to be! After being totally ignored for fifteen minutes got up and left
Found another restaurant which was not German and very nice indeed, with reasonably priced tasty food, impressive service and a wonderful view of sunset
Shame where restaurant is because we will never return!

We visited Chopin's summer home in Villademosa, Spain by booking majorcaexcursioni.com and had a wonderful tour, Our guide was Esteban who was most knowledgeable. We also went to the old city of Palma and toured what was once the Jewish Quarter. I highly recommend this company

Returned from the Island Escape 'the Best of the Med' cruise on the 29th October, fantastic taster cruise, food very good, loved the variety, the beachcomber restaurant was open 24 hours, entertainment good though we spent most of our evenings in the champions bar with folk we had met up with. Our favourite spot was the sail away bar during the day, but this closed by about 10.00 p.m. Pool area and bar not so good. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, cannot fault anything about this holiday other than the trips which were so and so,I was very disappointed with the boat trip to St Tropez, didn't do what it said on the tin, it cost £48 for a 4 hour trip to sail on nothing better than a tug, and then be dumped on a harbour in which you had to dodge dog poo there and in the town, Yachts were something out of this this world though. Other than that a fantastic time was had by all. Will certainly do a cruise again

Having just returned from an enjoyable 2 weeks in the Med on the Island Escape, this is an honest review of the ship and the holiday experience.

Yes, the cabins are small but adequate, with sufficient hanging and drawer space. Cases with soft tops can be stored under the beds. The shower room is a reasonable size and also well fitted with shelves etc. and the bath towels were of good quality. On the downside, the cabins are dated but scrupulously clean and the cabin staff are excellent, cleaning cabins twice daily.

Public areas were better than we expected and, again, very clean. The food in the Island Restaurant was of good quality, always hot and plenty of choice, even for vegetarians. The waiters were hard working and mostly keen to make the holiday memorable. Whilst the quoted dress code is anything goes, the majority of people opted for smart casual which suited the ambiance of the restaurant and most people felt that this should be the rule. We did eat in the Beachcomber where the food was just as good, but in more basic eating style. The all inclusive package offered a good selection of drinks with a variety cocktails included.

The entertainment was better than expected with lots of choice. The shows in the theatre were good, with dancing on deck 12 to live music and music in the other bars. There is a reasonable library of books that you can borrow and many other on board activities.

The itinerary provided a good choice of ports and there was always information, maps etc. available if you wanted to do your own thing.

We found this to be a friendly and relaxed holiday and we would certainly go on the Island Escape again.

We joined the ship in Palma, Mallorca, and was pleasently surprised by the ship, although on reflection at the end of the cruise have to say she is beginning to show her age now(built in 1981), and must surely be ready for retirement.
Once on board and checked in we made our way to our cabin, and WOW!!!!! oops on opening the doorwere a little let down by the size, not at all what we were expecting. Small, and not very inviting. The W.C./shower room was barely adequate, when you were showering you were constantly being attacked by the shower curtain, trying to wrap itself round you, so annoying.
Getting past the initial dissappointment the room was clean and well looked after by our first class house keeper Arthr.
Overall the ship, the crew, the food, the entertainment, even the ports of call were all up to and exceded expection.
Only one resturant was formal, the others were very informal and buffet style, and as before the food was plentyful and excelent quality.
One fly in the ointment was , as with all Thomson cruises is they are all inclusive, well myself and my partner dont drink, and we had access to all the soft drinks we could handle, but when i asked for a non-alcoholic beer, i was informed that i would be charged for it. This seems a bit mean, because for all intents and porpose non-alcoholic beer is no more than a soft drink.
As i reported in a previous review my camera was stolen on the stay part of our holiday, and for me made the cruise part a bit of a let down as i'm a keen photographer of ships, which i missed out on this time.
We probably will go on another cruise in the future, but it wont be on this ship, as there are many more much newer and more luxurious ships to pick from
