Owner description: With its church-like interior and bizarre fruit-themed decorating motif, this bar is easily one of the most unusual nightspots in the area: the wacky, surreal ambiance is well worth the pricey drinks.

“Highlight of my weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 November 2007

The Abaco Bar is everything the guide books promise, and more. My jaw dropped when we walked through the door. This is not just a place to drop off for a drink, it is An Experience. Linger for an hour over a cocktail, preferably with someone you love. Yes, the drinks are expensive but so worth it. The place is a totally OTT romantic stage set but great fun. You just have to give yourself up to the place and absorb the atmosphere. Dress up. This place deserves more than jeans and trainers.

We went out of season, and early in the evening, which is probably the best time if you want a quiet drink. But word has obviously spread because lots of people were treating it like a tourist attraction - wandering in for a look around and not buying a drink. How mean is that?

“Get in, have a look, and get out.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2007

Yes, it's what i suggest you to do. The place is interesting only under the aesthetic point of view. So it's enough to get in, have a look around (and you are allow to do that) and say goodnight.
Prices are absurd: 15 euro for any drink, the music is classical, the birds are in jail.

“Romantic abaco...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2007

Hi. We spent a few days in the fab Hotel Tres in december wondering where the opera music was coming from. Finally we found the amazing abaco bar, and the couple of hours in the candlelit garden on a starry winter evening with my loved one will always stay in my mind as one of the best experiences I have had. Palma in december without the crowds was amazing.

“read this review first”

If you wish to be astonished it would be better that you stumble across Abaco by accident, as we did. For this reason I strongly recommend that you don't read any of the more detailed reviews.

Just go there.

If Salvador Dali had been interested in cocktail bar design this is what he would have come up with.

Abaco is in the old town, just around the corner from the Hotel Tres.

The entrance is a simple large wooden door set in a blank wall. A rather solemn gent in a suit stands outside.

We weren't sure if it was ok to enter - all rather reminiscent of the "anarchist theatre- not for everyone" in Herman Hesse's Steppenwolf.

Only the witless will be disappointed.
