“A Grander Version of Abaco”

Owner description: With its church-like interior and bizarre fruit-themed decorating motif, this bar is easily one of the most unusual nightspots in the area: the wacky, surreal ambiance is well worth the pricey drinks.

“A Grander Version of Abaco”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2010

Noticed on Trip Advisor that people are getting confused between Abaco and Abacanto.
The original was Abaco near to the cathedral in the centre of Palma and Abacanto is on the outskirts of Palma in an industrial estate.
If you like Abaco then you will certainly like this larger and more surreal version based in a large senorial house with extensive grounds. Same expensive cocktail list (cheapest cocktail 15 euros) but still worth a visit. The venue is like a stage set, a cross between "Caligula" and "The Cook, The Thief, The Wife & Her Lover". Helen Mirren would definetly feel at home!

“You must drink the ambiance and then a cocktail”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2010

What a fabulous room....while in Palma one must take in this lovely mansion. Ive seen other reviewers critical of the prices but its a BIG cocktail and if you order a second they will carry you out of the place.

“What an experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2009

Yes, 15euro is expensive for one drink, with a total bill of 172 on drinks our jaws did drop - however it is a mythical place which cannot be described as a bar. It was only on leaving we noticed the 'prohobido' sign with a camera...... we can upload photos soon as long as we dont get sued.

The old stone pebble cobble floor sprinkled with yellow and red petals, the various little rooms, for seclusion for romantic couples (not us - rowdy hen weekend!) and a room with fresh fruit and veg scattered everywhere makes for a total one off venue!

A must see on a visit to palma!

“Worst cocktail ever”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2008

Been to Abaco yesterday....it was a very nice and cosy place, but the price you pay for a cocktail is not in line with the quality. The waiter was not one you expect from that kind of bars.... We ordered a simple daiquiri cocktail and it was so horrible we didn't even drink it! Just paid without any tip and went away!!!! So the place is nice to see, but if you like good cocktails, please go somewhere else.....

“background of birdsong and the sound of water - wonderful!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2008

Loved Abaco - very relaxing to sit on the terrace and listen to beautiful classical music with a background of birdsong and the sound of water. At 17 euros for a coffee, a beer and a bowl of olives, it was well worth it. I hope to return.
