Dining options: After-hours, Dinner, Reservations
Description: Sa Volta and La Cueva were two adjoining Tapas bars owned and run by the Nieto brothers. (I think their parents established them.) Sa Volta was TINY but they have now connected the two bars and they are packed out every night. The food is incredible. The service is excellent.

If you sit at the bar as we did the first time, and just eat little fried fish and a glass of wine, it's absolutely perfect, but when we went back for a sit down dinner it seemed more expensive and a bit of a tourist trap. But then, in the very centre of Palma it's to be expected. The food was fine, staff chatty, just not cheap and cheerful!

We did not have a booking but were invited to have a drink at the bar as there could be a table available within 20 minutes. There was a real buzz about the place and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were presented with a table after 5 minutes and we had started to order when the waiter advised us to stop ordering as he felt that 4 Tapas between 2 was more than enough, and he was right. The portions were sizeable and the quality excellent and all served with pleasantries and a smile even putting up with my fragmented Spanish language. A lovely experience and seemed so authentic.

In a very busy area of the old town and it looked to be busy all the time we tried it and loved it.
We had grilled sardines, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, Spanish sausages, and sangria.

This restaurant is in the most touristy part of Majorca and is full of tourists, but the quality is really good, the portions are large and the waiting staff are great. The rabbit was delicious and my octopus was the best I have had and I have had a few! Gets very busy so go early or late, but the staff are very patient and will seat you at the bar to wait. Wines not cheap, but the local one we had was lovely. We went back the following night as we enjoyed the place so much.
