Description: Sa Volta and La Cueva were two adjoining Tapas bars owned and run by the Nieto brothers. (I think their parents established them.) Sa Volta was TINY but they have now connected the two bars and they are packed out every night. The food is incredible. The service is excellent.

“Good tapas conveniently located ”
Reviewed 26 December 2013 via mobile

We headed into Palma for dinner -after reading all the reviews on this place we decided we had to check it out. We got a table immediately even though we didn't book but that was probably more to do with the fact it was Boxing Day (Dec 26th) than anything else. All things considering it was still pretty busy! The tapas is pretty reasonably priced from about 5eur up to about 16eur. After seeing the ox tail at the table beside us we decided to order the 'cheaper' dishes figuring they would be smaller. We ordered some garlic mushrooms, some peppers, whitebait & squid. All of the dishes were good...nothing super amazing but all more than acceptable. The squid was the most expensive at about 15eur, in saying that it was a very large serve! It was a meal on it's own. The wine was well priced, to avoid trying to decide which wine to order we just took the bottle that was on the table €15, a Rioja & quite nice!
To be perfectly honest I think the locals left this place a long time ago we did not hear one table speaking Spanish while we were here it was either German or English.
My only complaint would be we were charged for the 'bread' which was bought to our table as we arrived, a little petty I know but if I had a choice I would have declined the bread! Perhaps they assumed because I ordered aioli I would like bread...?
Having my first tapas experience here I have nowhere else to compare it to. The food was good the service, although a little brusk, was also good & the atmosphere inside was definitely good-how could you not enjoy your meal with a giant bull overseeing operations?!
For the two of us, the four dishes we ordered, the dessert we shared, a bottle of water & a bottle of wine it was just shy of €65, which we didn't think was too bad.

Many of the Tapas Bar's we 'normally' use were not Open it being late in the season , and we wondered in 'blind' - we were not disappointed.
Nice warm family atmosphere with a few locals eating , which we took to be a good sign.
We ordered 4 tapas to share , all of which were excellent and good sized portions.
Pop in you won't be disappointed

“Traditional tapas”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

Went to the restaurant after looking at reviews on trip adviser. It was just what we were looking for, traditional tapas. Waiters friendly and helpful by telling us we wouldn't need any more than four dishes between us both... Really tasty food too..

“The perfect tapas for the family.”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Each time we are in we make certain that we squeeze in a visit to this perfect tapas restaurant in the back streets of Palma. It is a restaurant rather than a bar an is ideal for larger parties and perfect for families. This family run establishment makes no claims to following the new trends in tapas. You will simply choose from a vast range of traditional tapas dishes cooked freshly each day. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed with a genuine welcome usually from the proprietor herself. If you order a glass of wine they may open a bottle and put it on your table charging you for what you drink. They assume taht you will want more than a glass and they are usually correct. This is the ideal spot for a reasonably priced lunch in Palma.

“Great tapas, wine, informal setting”
Reviewed 30 September 2013 via mobile

We wandered into this tapas bar by accident but were extremely glad that we did. There were many excellent tapas selections from which to choose and the waiters were very helpful in guiding our selections so we had a good variety without an excessive amount to eat. The local wine that we ordered, Quibia, was so good that we ordered a case after we returned to the US. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, an outstanding evening and great value!
