“Very charming boutique hotel”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

Beautifully refurbished old XIII century house in the middle of the historic town of Palma, with very large rooms with modern bathrooms and comfortable beds.

All staff including the restaurant staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant and our short stay very relaxing. In the evening we had the tasting menu in the outside patio and every dish was delicious and their selection of wines good.

I just have one observation to make and that is that the old refurbished doors to the rooms look lovely, but every time a guest opens their room with their traditional key, the noise reverberates throughout the corridor and into the bedrooms.

Just back from a weekend stay at the Can Cera Hotel. What a wonderful experience. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building in the middle of the old town, perfectly located for exploring. The staff at this hotel are amazing, they couldn't do enough for us and really went out of there way to ensure our stay was perfect. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and once again staff were fantastic. If you're looking for a little bit of luxury then this is definitely the place to stay.

This hotel is located in the heart of the old town, the rooms are lovely, breakfast was plentiful all hot food was cooked to order, the gastro dining that we tried one evening was fantastic. We booked the Spa, which ended our day wonderfully the staff were all so attentive and professional would definitely go back.

Ok, so I was proposing anyway, but, without any rose-tinted glasses, it was genuinely excellent.
We had the suite (there's only one full suite, the old nobleman's quarters) and it was lovely, the perfect blend of antiquity and luxury.
The service was informal but respectful and the hotel is located in the best, oldest part of Palma. We were given a full tour of the 17th Century property and encouraged to use the various beautiful lounges throughout the building at our leisure. This was emphasised as our departing flight was on the Sunday evening and we spent the entire day, after we checked out, either in the private spa or recovering in the top floor lounge, ordering service from the restaurant.
Can't recommend enough and very pleased we will be forced to return at some point to romantically re-visit the place we got engaged.
Plus, we were there in Feb and got incredible value for money.
You definitely won't regret it.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely, but go out of season and get the suite.

The Can Cera is perfectly located in the "Old Centre" of Palma de Mallorca, as long as you don't have a car (parking is currently 30+ euros a night). A really old building internally converted to a modern state of the art Boutique Hotel, we were in room 7 on the second floor (thats strange). A huge room, comfortable bed, with far too many pillows and an odd layout. The wardrobe (with a free safe big enough to take a large laptop) is down a flight of very high narrow steps, uncomfortable to negotiate if like me you have a "dodgy" knee. Once on this lower level there is a massive bathroom, with a bath, separate shower WC and bidet.
Slippers, bathrobes and the "full set" of toiletries are provided, and without doubt these facilities combined with the most friendly and helpful staff we have ever encountered made this an exceptional stay in a wonderful city.

Room Tip: Don't bring a car and certainly don't rent one from the Hotel, far better deal can be had lo...

We were looking for a very special hotel to escape to in Palma, having left our toddler with her grandparents, and Can Cera didn't let us down. A beautifully converted old townhouse in the heart of the old city, it is luxurious, tasteful and charming. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the communal spaces (which seem to outnumber the bedrooms!) are a great place to relax with a book - or just soak in what it must have felt like to be a wealthy Palma nobleman. The staff are very friendly and it's walking distance to everything. Don't miss it!

Can Cera is perfectly located in a small 150 meter street right between two beautiful churches (Sta Eulalia and Sta Fransisc) in the heart of Palma. Can be reached easily from the airport by taxi (€19 one way) or by bus and a short walk (linea 1, busstop Porta del Camp , €3 each person, one way).

The hotel is a former 17th century tipical Mallorquin house, with a inside patio and big, very clean and spacious rooms. We stayed in an impressively high ceiling room, a junior suite. Being located in the front of the hotel and on the top 2nd floor, the rooms are the most light in the hotel. A quick look in other rooms told us all rooms are spacious, very clean and with own charactiristics. Room 5 eg had its own little terrace on the inside of the building.

Staff help is impressive. Beaches, tapas, going round the island or city, transport: the best insiders tips!

Renting a bike to explore the city and surroundings/beaches is good fun. 'Lock and Go' at the Plaza España bus station offer bikes at just €6 a day, other rentals more or less double that price.

The Soller train (which is leaving from Plaza España) offers nice views in Tramontana mountains, and visiting Soller and Port de Soller is worthwile. Returning by bus (€2,50 one way) is a convenient and fast alternative.

Allthough Palma is not known for city trip destination, it's highly recommended for a weekend stayover.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
At over 700 years old, Can Cera has one of the longest histories in Palma. The building dates back to before 1232 when Jaume I conquered the island with Catalan and Aragonese troops. Located inside the ancient city walls close to the Cathedral, Can Cera is in the very heart of the Old City, between the Plaza de Santa Eulalia and the Plaza de San Francisco. Over the years, Can Cera’s many owners have made alterations to the original building. The most important of these were done in the 17th Century, when –as in many of the surrounding houses– Italian Renaissance architects inspired the creation of the celebrated patios, giving the houses their singularly attractive, yet austere, character. Inside, the house is significant and rich with well-proportioned rooms, high ceilings of sculptured plasterwork, balconies and above all, palatial adornments. Today, Can Cera, has been thoroughly renovated and equipped as a first class Hotel. The traditional Majorcan patio, with its majestic arches, exuberant Kentia and other lush plants, leads to the Reception area and the Can Cera Restaurant. A marble stairway leads up to a surprising space: a comfortable and welcoming Home with its original layout intact. Period furniture and contemporary paintings abound. ... more   less
