Just returned from a 3 night stay with my daughter at this hotel. It is in a lovely position with fantastic views over the marina. Our room was spacious, the beds are superbly comfortable and we had beautiful views from our balcony of the boats and the cathedral. The breakfasts are excellent and the bus stops are nearby with regular buses into the city and the beaches. Also we took a bus directly from the airport to the hotel. Don't miss the ice cream shop a few yards from the hotel they are superb and only 80cents!

Room Tip: Splash out on a sea view room it really is worth it!!

I've been staying at the 'Palas' for years now and have known it since I was very young. I always try to get a few days there each year. The staff are great and the rooms are large and extremely comfortable. It's a great base for exploring Palma and the Island. It has a feeling of grandeur, yet the atmosphere is predominantly relaxed - you can really kick your shoes off there. If you stay, have breakfast! The selection and quality is second to none. I'm looking forward to returning next year.

An amazing hotel! Our experience at the hotel was mostly positive with only some negative points!

Positives: there is a bus which takes you from the airport to just 200m away from the hotel (bus number 1) and only costs 2,50euros one-way; the hotel is very big, with beautiful lounge areas (piano, a beautiful staircase, tapas restaurant, etc); the hotel staff could speak English very well and would help us if we needed any clarifications about something; the rooms were VERY spacious and clean, big bathroom, and a small balcony; the breakfast area was beautiful, the terrace overlooks the Bay of Palma (beautiful sight in the morning or late afternoon), and the breakfast was more than anything anyone could ask for, it was just a lovely way to start our days! The pool was next to the breakfast area and also has a bar there -> after a tiring day in Palma, relaxing at the pool area with a nice cocktail, and the beautiful view of Palma Bay, the cathedral and the yachts is just a nice way to end your afternoon. Finally, the hotel is next to, and very close to numerous restaurants, bars, cafes, and clubs, and also approximately 20-25 minutes away from the Cathedral (by foot), and only a short walking distance to bus-stops which take you to Palma city center, Magalluf, and other beautiful areas of Mallorca.

Negatives: even though the hotel is beautiful, it is - nevertheless - old, and at times this point was evident! Our balcony door would not always lock (and same thing happened to a couple we were traveling together who had to ask for it to be fixed) which does not make you feel very safe especially since our rooms were next to the street behind the hotel. Secondly, the bathroom ceilings were broken and you could see inside the ceilings. Thirdly, internet was free only in the lounge areas but even so, the username and password given to us did not work, therefore for three whole days we could not use the internet at all, and it only worked the day we were living. Finally, this is not really a negative but just a matter of misunderstanding, but as we were three couples traveling together, one of the couple paid for all the three rooms upon arrival in the hotel. On the day of the check-out, the couple who paid upon arrival were able to check-out just fine, but when we (the other two couples) went to check-out they asked us to pay 360euros per room as their system did not show that our rooms were paid. The member of the staff understood English, but not as good so as to clarify the misunderstanding immediately and he insisted that we did not pay anything. Anyway, the issue was okay after 5-10 minutes, but my point is that even if you pay in advance, keep all receipts until you check-out, in order to avoid any possible misunderstanding!

Overall, we had an amazing stay in this beautiful hotel in Palma. The positives are much more than the negative ones, so i would definitely recommend it to other travelers!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms in the third floor that are not sea-view rooms. Our rooms were next to the street behind...

I stayed here for two nights with my 12 year old son and it suited us perfectly! Excellent customer service with a high level of efficiency. The room was large and faced the beautiful harbour. It was extremely comfortable and the beds were huge with comfy pillows (a pillow menu was available if the pillow didn't suit...ideal for someone with a tricky back). The actual hotel was quiet on a night but there was noise from the busy road, however this didn't really disturb my sleep and I'm a light sleeper! We didn't use the pool until 2-3 and always found a sunbed. People did go out very early to 'book' their beds and many were left empty for hours! They have room for more sunbeds and should supply these when the hotel is particularly busy. The mini bar and food was very reasonable. We managed to walk everywhere and explored the old town which I would recommend. I will definitely return.

Room Tip: Try a higher floor and a sea view. Ask for a free upgrade!

There is something very special about this hotel. It's down to the space and the staff. The large spaces, such as the foyer and the sun terrace, bring an air of openness and relaxation. The breakfast room is huge, as is the choice of food (although I would like improved sausages and mushrooms! English type!). The view from the front is huge, all over the marina and the cathedral.

The No1 bus from the airport for E3 takes you virtually straight to the hotel. Taxis would cost over E20.

An up-date in decor is planned. They can change the carpet and the curtains but please don't change the beds. Ours was a huge 7 foot, tall and firm. and great pillows.

The staff can;t do enough for you. Within seconds of sitting-down for breakfast, your waiter is there with flasks of hot coffee and hot milk, or lemon tea.

This 2012 August the hotel was full - 620 guests! That tells you how popular this place is. Very liked by Scandinavians. There was a problem with sun-beds but 20 extra ones were brought in.

The lunch-time food is delicious; in the outside pool-side cafe; you can observe it made, very cleanly and efficiently. Having lunch outside under a canopy over-viewing the Bay of Palma is the height of luxury.

Highly recommended. Perhaps not for children as there is no beach; but they can enjoy the ample-size pool.

The air-conditioning in the bedroom is just right; cooling but not cold; and quiet. BBC and Sky TV available. Refrigerator in the room; use it for your own-bought bottles of Kas Lemon etc which you can purchase cheaply from a shop some two hundred yards to the left of the hotel facing seawards.

The best cafe we found to walk to close by is the Italian about 150 yards to the left. The sea bass and cod is excellent, and the home-made pasta ( recommend the carbonara).

We fly Ryonair from Liverpool; cheap. Take single cases each, inside the regulation size/weight; simple. They are never late. Lots of walking in Palma airport; take a case with a pulling handle.

Will be returning.

PS The south coast of Majorca is best because it receives a cooling sea breeze from the sea.

Room Tip: Insist on a full-sea-view room. It costs more but it's worth it. You can sit on the balcony fo...

We expected bad service for such a big hotel but the staff were great and full of personality.
A (slow) 15 minute stroll to town centre or a quick bus ride to some nice beaches. We also stayed pool-side for a whole day on check-out and they let us use the showers before our late flight out.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms were booked out so we got a castle-view. The great thing was that we got more sun tim...

Hotel was great for a week - delicious breakfast with a wonderful range of food and they will make omelette for you etc - they even offer guests cava or rioja for breakfast sometimes which we found funny (especially the Russian man on the table next to us who took the rioja at breakfast)! We got a very cheap deal so couldn't get one of the seaview rooms but the view along the side of the hotel (an old derelict swimming pool -pity) didn't bother us as we could still see the sea from our balcony with the yachts and the sun was always out and we were out exploring or eating most of the time! I can imagine some people might be a bit bothered by some nightclub noise nearby (World Cup was on when we were there so the football crowd was loud but they would have been anywhere in Palma the same) however, Spa was lovely and offered a range of great massages and wonderful swimming pool, jacuzzi and - wonderful perfume in the spa and relaxing music though there is an extra charge for the spa access so beware. Outdoor swimming pool and poolside bar at the front of the bar was great too and included in hotel general price. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms nice. I would recommend changing the sofas in the bedrooms though - they were old and had lost their springs.
