“Fantastic views of the harbour & cathedral !”
Reviewed 13 September 2008

This is a good 4star hotel which is quite a walk out of the city centre (15-20mins) but great location over-looking the harbour - make sure you pay the extra for a sea-view room.

A couple of excellent restaurants nearby - come out of the hotel and turn right and you come across"Piccola Italia" and then a bit further up the street is "Mediterraneo 1930".

The staff in the hotel were friendly and polite and agreed to let us keep our room til late on the day we left as we hadn't been able to get in it until 5.30pm on arrival day.

Good choice at breakfast including omlettes made to order.

This is a good hotel if you dont mind the walk into town.

I had read the reviews of this hotel on this website and so was expecting a great stay at this hotel - I was very disappointed.

The good things - the location (by day) is nice. The view over the harbour is spectacular and the lovely old town is only a 15 mintue walk. The rooms were fairly clean The pool area is very nice and spacious too for a city hotel

The bad things - this hotel is very very dated. I am sure it was lovely in 1977 but is it looks and smells very worn now. The air conditioning didnt work.

The location at night is a NIGHTMARE...you are situated on the busiest night club strip in the whole of Spain. The place is deceptively quiet and pleasant until 1am when the streets go crazy. It is like Picadilly Circus (only busier) until 630 am. Expect no sleep as it is sooo noisy (people shouting, singing, cars, hooting etc etc) and it reaches a crescendo at 6am when the clubs close. There is a night club under the hotel but luckily the music from this stops at 5am.

I realise you cant really blame the hotel itself for the fiesta outside on the streets but I would really not stay here if you are not planning on being one of the party people up until 6am. Much better to stay in the old town of Palma or better still Hotel Portixol which is fabulous.

  • Disliked — The dated decor and the street noise

My husband and I wanted little more than a place with a pool for relaxing and a good location to walk around, enjoying the beautiful island scenery; this hotel was perfect for our needs.

The location was very good- near lots of little cafes, clubs, restaurants, and looked out directly over the marina. The pool was very nice, with lots of chairs and a small bar. The staff was very helpful, giving us information about all sorts of things that rewarded them no concierge fees- bus schedules, beaches, and grocery stores- with no irritation.

Some of the other reviews commented on the "dated" furnishings; I have to agree a bit, but it was not an issue for us at all. We came to the island to see everything BUT the decor of our room (which was really not that bad).

Allways willing to learn with the experiences of fellow travelers I read reviews on this hotel before making the room reservation and then asked for one in a upper floor.
They gave me a room in the top floor of the hotel, the 8th, but... I had to sleep with the noises of ancient A/C devices! Well it's the same that run from a lion and than be eated by a leopard...
Fine pool, very clean rooms, WC and balcony.
Food only tried the beakfast buffet (at €20/person) because it was to much expensive.
The neighborhood is affected by the so called spannish "botellón" wich consist on teenagers drinking alcoolic drinks in the streets, gardens... and in this case it was funny see the police doing nothing with drunk young people near the most expensive yachts you can imagine in the Mallorca Marina.

Stayed for 5 nights 29/07/08 it was the most pleasant hotel with great staff. We will be back next year for a short break. Room 618 was perfect, what a view from our balcony. Palma is great. Try Bar Dia in the old town for Tapas. Small and local but the food was almost as good as the hotel breakfast. Champagne at 9.00am - tops.

Hotel is in nice location, though I wish it was just a little closer to the Old City. Very impressive lobby area and hallways. The rooms were adequate but clearly a shadow of their former selves. The furniture and decor could use some updating. We had a nice large bathroom, even complete with bidet. We did not have a seaview room but one rather on the side of the hotel which still had a decent partial sea view from the small but good sized balcony. We were above some nightclubs which kept going until 4 am but actually we were so tired from our travels that we slept very well anyway. The beds, despite being old, were still quite comfortable. Great mini bar.

All in all we had an enjoyable stay in Palma at this hotel. It's a big chain hotel on Palma port. Nice view of the port and cathedral in the distance. Only about 20 minute walk to old town. We found some great restaurants closeby in an area called Santa Catalina which like an on the up East Village (NY) (about 10 minutes walk from the hotel)

Breakfast in hotel was huge variety. Lobby area and bar were nice. On a downside the indoor swimming pool/sauna/spa which they advertise was not available (closed for renovation) and there is no wireless internet access( 8 euro minimum charge for connection with modem) Did not hear any noise from nightclubs but lots of traffic if you leave the window open!

We paid 108 euros per night for the room inc breakfast. We would stay here again.
