“Great city break hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2012

Just back from a 3 night stay at the Gran Melia Victoria and I absolutely loved it, the hotel itself is beautiful but it's the staff that really make it special. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone and you're made to feel like you've been going for years.

My room overlooked the main entrance but my parents had a beautiful room at the front of the hotel with a view of the harbour, I'd recommend it, it's lovely to sit on the balcony as the sun goes own. The rooms are well equipped and the turn down service is a nice touch. Both rooms were spotless, the beds comfortable with ample towels in the bathroom. The room overlooking the harbour was a little noisy at 4am ish when the nightclub next door kicks out, this did disturb my dads sleep a bit.

The pool area is really nice, the guy that mans the pool is brilliant, he works non stop all day making sure everyone is comfortable. Waiters and waitresses going round all day taking drinks orders too. There is quite a lot of road noise round the pool as the hole faces on to a busy road.

The food at breakfast, and at the pool side restaurant is fantastic, expensive but really good. I recommend the fish tempura basket at the pool resteraunt! Didn't eat dinner at the hotel but I was told by other family staying that it was excellent.

Great for a long weekend but I think any longer than that and the noise would probably get to you a little. I would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask to be as far away from the Titos side as possible

I pride myself on picking good hotels and was fooled into booking here by the website. The entrance is rather grand but as soon as you start to look in detail the cracks start to show. The room was spacious but not up to the expected standard of a five star hotel. My wife dropped a piece of jewellery and was shocked at the dust and dirt behind the bed side locker. The shower was short of pathetic with a drizzle of water. Breakfast was mean and we were hurried along by an over enthusiastic staff member wanting to clear tables. Next time we visit Palma we will choose somewhere more central.

The Gran Melia Victoria hotel offers a very beautiful, welcoming stay Palma. It's situated on the harbour and takes about 20 minutes by foot to go into the heart of the old town. The rooms are spacious and we even got upgraded to one with a balcony. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful.

The only slightly negative comments that I have are that the food and parking was quite pricy. 17€ a day for a parking space is a bit of a joke but luckily we were able to find parking for free just round the corner.

I have just returned from a four day break with my two daughters to celebrate the the end of their uni exams.. We booked the Gran Melia at the last minute and got quite a good deal and on arrival we were offered a free upgrade to a room with a full view of the marina. From the moment we arrived we felt very relaxed and loved the hotel although there were a few small issues. We were impressed by the warm welcome we recieved from the receptionist but the following day she seemed decidedly grumpy. The gym is advertised on the website ( one of the reasons we chose the hotel ) but it consisted of a cross trainer, treadmill and a multi gym. Very dissapointing for my fitness fanatic daughters. The rooms could have been cleaned with more efficiency and the pressure in the shower was poor. Not really what you expect from a 5* hotel The pool area is lovely and very clean. The drinks and food at the poolside are expensive and not very imaginative. The standard of the food for breakfast was also lacking in quality and choice . Palma is a truly wonderful city and we will return but will probably look for a hotel that is closer to the old town.

This was our second visit to this hotel, so we knew what to expect, and were not disappointed. The employees make you feel extremely welcome, and are very accommodating. The rooms are large, clean and traditional. Our bathroom was huge! As to location - well, it's a reasonable walk into the city centre - about half hour - but it was good to have the lovely swimming pool and facilities to crash out at the end of the day. Very enjoyable visit!

Stayed along the Palma front before, and decided to try the Victoria. Staff, service was fantastic, but for a five star hotel, some of the facilities were very poor. There is NO GYM, apart from three pieces of equipment in an exposed room at the pool. The pool beds are bizarre, no umbrellas, and instead a covering over half the beds, so there's musical beds happening all day. The other major drawback is that it is in the main night club area, so, most nights you can be kept awake by revellers, particularly at chucking out time, six am. We wouldn't use this hotel again, but will go back to Valperisso, slightly further away, but worth the extra distance/price

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2012

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights with my husband at the beginning of June.
We booked a sea view room and the room was spacious with a fantastic
view of the marina. When I booked the room I requested a late check out
as we had a late evening flight but was told this couldn't be arranged until
we arrived. On arrival we were told it couldn't be confirmed until the day of
departure, On departure day we were told the hotel was fully booked and
had to vacate room at 12.00 noon however they did let us use a courtsey
room to shower. I checked on my Ipad while we were at the hotel and sea
view rooms were available so my feeling was that the hotel simply couldn't be
bothered to accomodate us although we were happy to pay an additional
charge. This is not what you expect from a five star hotel. Elsewhere we
felt there seemed to be a lack of staff, particularly at the pool and everything
all seemed rather dated and tired. We also felt the hotel would benefit from a shuttle
bus into Palma as it is a 40 minute walk into the old town. If I were returning to Palma
I would choose a hotel in the old town close to shops etc this hotel is not special enough
to put up with the location.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms definetly worth the extra cost.
