“Luxury, peace and quiet and privacy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 September 2011

We have just visited this hotel for the second time in two years and were even more impressed with it this time. They have upgraded the Spa and now have day beds and a massage table on the roof terrace. You should stay at this hotel if you are the kind of person who makes their own entertainment and just wants and bit of peace and quiet and privacy in their down time. It is not a traditional 'five star hotel' as referred to by other Trip Advisor reviewers - it is less formulaic and is more on a par with 'Small Luxury Hotels of the World'. You will get pretty much complete privacy here and can come and go as you please, get a drink from the bar when you please and just chill out. A hassle free beautiful environment backed up with a real effort from the staff to make your stay as perfect as possible. I would definitely recommend it if you like understated luxury and just want to focus on the people you are with rather than other guests.

This is a unique and high quality holiday experience. We stayed 9 nights in August. Location is ideal; walking distance to many attractions, venues, restaurants and public transportation. The front desk staff are excellent recommending dining and giving directions to major attractions and historical sites. They are helpful and courteous at all times.

The hotel itself has the old world feel; of an old Spanish manor house; and many of the previous reviewers are accurate in their descriptions of the Monet kitchen; tea time and other benefits of the hotel. The roof top terrace is one of the major benefits; for relaxation and a spectacular view.

The Rick's cafe; breakfast room is pleasant. The breakfast is extensive. If you have the breakfast included; the very cheerful and skilled lady in charge quickly learns your preferences and the experience of breakfast becomes an event in itself. She is one of the best assets of the hotel.

Bottom line is if one is looking for a unique, old world experience in a relaxing and stress free environment; this may be the hotel for you. If you are expecting luxury; you may want to look else where.

The bed linen was not changed until after the fifth night; and that only because it was directly requested. The carpet in the room has needed cleaning for a very very long time. The mini safe did not work properly. The air conditioning leaked water onto the floor in front of the door for the first three days. The bath linen is getting thread bare and tattered; noticeably frayed and thin; I've seen better in cheap motels. Some of the pillow cases have holes; not one one but both sides. The bath linens and supplies are replaced inconsistently; some times they are and sometimes they are not. The robes are in a similar condition to the bath linens; one of which had yellow stains of unknown origin and the other was missing the belt loops. Loose wires hanging out of the wall in the bathroom with a missing electrical fixture. Two staff members assured us on four separate occasions a breakfast snack would be supplied over night due to our early departure in the morning; it never arrived. So if you are prepared to overlook the short comings and missteps this could be the hotel for you; but do not expect a 5 star experience.

We did meet some wonderful people while were there; the other guests at times were engaging and enchanting. All in all a very positive stay.

Dear Guest,

First of all we would like to apologize for not giving you the proper response faster.

We really appreciate your comments; they encourage us to keep improving our services and correct our flaws. We strongly believe it is our duty to meet our customers’ expectations and it’s obvious we have not succeeded this time.

We are glad to inform you we have changed our laundry supplier, because we realized they served us linen and towels which were not from our hotel, with a lower quality and poorly washed. As we are a small business we are unable to manage it personally. Fortunately, thanks to complaints like yours we were able to find it out and take measures. We deeply regret that you were negatively affected and we apologize for that.

Regarding your breakfast request, we enormously regret not having managed it effectively. This complaint made us think about the effectiveness of out procedure and, once discussed with the staff, we have implemented a new control system to avoid " "improper forgetfulness".

We remain at your disposal for any request you may have. With big humility we ask you to excuse our mistakes and accept a sincere gratitude for helping us to improve day by day.

In any case, we are extremely glad you globally had a nice time with us and we hope to see you really soon!

Best regards,
Sonia Marzo

Second time we have stayed here. It is perfectly placed for getting around the old town . The roof terrace agrden overlooks the Cathedral. The staff are amongst the best we have have experienced. Nothing is too much trouble. It is simply a wonderful little hotel to escape to. I cannot recommend it highly enough

We recently stayed in this lovely hotel, although as its title suggests it is really a beautifully renovated palace. It is small: only 12 rooms but the reception areas are beautiful, with a dining room, a sitting room, a courtyard and a roof terrace with beautiful views. There is another room used for breakfast and evening meals and they have an honesty book for other snacks. There is complimentary tea/coffee and cake between 4-6pm and sherry from 1930-2130 every day which is very thoughtful.

The hotel is ideally situated near the cathedral in old Palma and everything is within easy walking distance. The old train to Soller is about a 10-15 minute walk away (with two three year olds). There are some nice restaurants nearby and we had a lovely meal at a local tapas restaurant within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel

However what is very special about the hotel is the service which is discrete, kind, friendly and faultless. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff, without exception, were very keen to be helpful at all times. It is as if this was your own home and you are free to use it as you would like, whether it is surfing the net (free internet access on their computer), lazing in the sun or wandering around this very fine hotel admiring the beautiful art work.

It is not a package hotel and that is a blessing. It is a one-off discrete and charming place to stay and a wonderful opportunity to live in great splendour. If I have any issues, it would be that the swimming pool is too cold! It is small which is in keeping with the rest of the hotel but it is not possible to enjoy it at the temperature set. Sorry! Also, there is only BBC world news on offer on the TV and it would be good to be offered more choice for those who wish to keep up with British news.

However it was just lovely and we fully plan to return soon.

Not a 5 star hotel. We have traveled a lot and lived at many nice hotels, but this has not the standard of a 5 star - more a 4 star hotel. Great location, nice staff, autentic, hostoical, good promise - but it is not enough. The honesty-bar is not a 5 star quality. It is not enough staff for a 5 star hotel. Therefore you have to wait and be pactient. There a twelve rooms, but when it is just one in the small reception and one to clean, things take time. In a 5 star hotel I like to be spoiled, so the idea of "feele like home" in the way this hotel has chosen that you help yourself, is not what we are used to. The roof- terrace is big and has a great vieuw and has comfortable sunbeds etc. The reception had a great recommendation for restaurants, and that is a plus and also expected. We will probably not come back here. It is a shame, but they have to change the concept. It is expensive, especially considering that ii is not breakfast included. The gym is the smallest and porrest I have seen.

We are sorry to disagree, but "feel like home" is our philosophy. We assume it may not like to everyone, but that's what makes us unique. As our motto says we are "the hotel that's just not a hotel". We obviously intend to always give a quality personalized service to each customer and we apologize in case we weren't able to bring it to you while you stayed with us.

Regarding our gym, it is small but well stocked: VibroPower, Steps, Exercise bike, Weights and Wii Sports Plus.

In any case, we are extremely glad you globally had a nice time with us

Best regards,

We stayed in this Hotel recently after looking for somewhere special to celebrate a birthday whilst already on the Island. The Hotel is superbly located right in the heart of the Historic Quarter of Palma, close to the Cathedral. It is tucked away (get directions for arriving as the one way system can be a bit tricky!) and very tasteful. The room we requested was large and comfortable with a wonderful bathroom equipped with a large Jacuzzi bath and luxury shower. However, the large TV in the area the children were to sleep in didnt work and was not fixed while we were there. Sleep was not great as the pillows were so very hard and there was noise from the street outside on the saturday night. The service in the breakfast room was a little lacking as there appeared to be only one member of staff, who was very pleasant but clearly rushed off her feet! Wonderful views from the roof terrace
