“Excellently sited for the port and very good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

We stayed at this hotel in June 2013 when it had just opened and have just returned in May this year because it is such excellent value. We also recommended it to friends who have stayed there. It's not glitzy and could do with some updating but this is far outweighed by it's position so close to the port and the village of Portals Nous plus the cost. Our room was large and very clean as was the bathroom and we had a lovely balcony with a view overlooking the port. The staff very welcoming and eager to please. The pool area isn't huge but there's lots of space between sunbeds - something you won't find in the larger hotels! We booked bed and breakfast as we like to eat out in different restaurants and the breakfast was fine.Overall we thoroughly enjoyed both holidays and this hotel is tremendously good value for the money. Highly recommended as long as you're not expecting 5* luxury - and if you are you'll pay 3 times the price!!

Room Tip: Request a high floor with a sea view, you'll be glad you did

Wasn't sure what to find after reading previous reviews but our experience was all good. We stayed for 4 nights at the beginning of May. We were offered a sea view room for a 10euro supplement per night which we took and had a very large room with nice furnishings and a large balcony (with the sea views). Bathroom was a good size and all was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We were B&B only so cannot comment on lunch or dinner. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean in all areas and our room was cleaned VERY well every day. We found ALL the staff friendly and helpful without exception. Pool area is not huge for a large hotel but perfectly adequate. To be fair the whole resort and the hotel was very quiet due to the time of year but we had a lovely stay and would like to thank all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. Would definitely use the hotel again.

Not sure where to start..we walked into the gloomy "hollow sounding" reception area and the the young man and woman behind the desk chatted away and didn't even look up. My husband said good evening and she replied ...no smile ...no greeting.. But she offered us an upgrade for 10 euros a night we said yes.. 4 stairs with thread bare carpet led us past a dark and dusty bar area .. No lights on .. No staff absolutely no atmosphere .. The bar stayed the same for ten days .. Never opened.. At the lift a couple who were waiting told us that because the lift breaks down frequently we should only go in twos..they had been stuck in it earlier in the week. The room I'd have a nice view of the port but that's the only good thing.. The furniture was old and shabby.. Toiletries.. One sachet of cheap shampoo .. 4 tissues in cellophane .. A disposable razor and plastic comb .. 2 cans of pop and two small bottles of water in fridge. Hardly a mini bar ??? Two flat pillows on the bed.. First night the noisy are con ( which you had no control over) other than off and on ) leaked water all over the floor into the standard lamp and armchair.. Breakfast .. Terrible.. Hygiene levels zero the miserable omelette maker wore one latex glove on the hand he used to pick up the food.. Check out his mobile and handle his filthy tea towel.. Fruit juice and hot drinks from a machine .. The type that mixes flavoured powder with water.. Slop tray underneath overflowing... Condiments on about 6 tables .. It was hunt the salt every morning.. Finding a teaspoon was a challenge,, the only 2 flustered breakfast staff were orally disorganised.. Headless chickens springs to mind .. Though they were sweaty and trying there best..pastries and bread were dished out on a first come first gets them basis. Breakfast finished at 10 but at 9.30 you had the choice of leftovers.. Pool. And garden area shabby and run down.. Pool Towels rented out at 3 euros a day ???? It was only bearable because we don't eat much at breakfast and we didn't use the hotel other than to shower or sleep .. Oh and on our last night we asked miss miserable behind reception for a wake up call at 6 .. She wrote it down but we weren't convinced..luckily I woke up because the call never happened and we could easily have missed our flight.. If you like a 2 star hotel with no atmosphere, dark and dingy surroundings and you aren't bothered about slumming it a bit .. This is the right hotel for you.. Our friends checked out after the first night and went to a genuine 4 star.. We were tempted but as there wouldn't have Ben a refund and we weren't spending time there we would stick it out.. Don't be fooled by the reviews or photos .. Never going back ..
Ps.. The lovely little 63 year old lady who did her best to clean the rooms from 8 in the morning till 6 at night for a pittance was lovely .. We noticed two brand new ferraris parked at the front of the hotel quite often.. They definitely didn't belong to the staff or guests.. Maybe they belonged to the owners???

Room Tip: If you want four star don't stay here. Defiantly don't have dinner, we saw how bad it was a...

I don't know why people write so much rubbish on this site! The hotel was lovely, clean, spacious and well equipped and More importantly aircon. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, had clean towels and bed was made everyday and cleaners were always about. Fantastic location right near restaurants and the habour. Views from the hotel were lovely overlooking the sea. Great location. Had breakfast every day which is buffet style and everything you could want. Pool also beautiful and nice bar and music played there. Recommend te sangria there. Had 1 week there and will visit it again soon! Perfect hotel!

We travelled as a party of 7 ladies for our annual long weekend trip. Having booked this hotel from some artist impression photos and before any recent trip advisor reviews, we were concerned about what to find.
On arrival we were pleased to discover the hotel was nowhere near as bad as expected. Check in was quick and friendly. We were offered sea view rooms at an extra 10 euros a night. On inspection we decided to upgrade as these rooms are much better and the views are excellent.
We had 4 rooms in all - all of mixed quality. Some had some form of refurbishment whilst others were more tired and looked like no refurbishment had taken place at all.None of the rooms looked anything the like the pictures we saw before we booked. 2 of the ladies had problems with the wardrobe door falling off suddenly without warning and a missing leg from the bureau which was dangerous. This was resolved after a couple of calls to reception.
Cleanliness in the rooms was mixed. Our room looked clean on the surface but there was a lot of dust in corners on closer inspection.
We used the pool once on the first day. It appeared clean but on the second day the sun beds had been left in the same place as the day before and there was no sign that the patio areas had been washed down.
Breakfast was ok for a few days stay but probably not varied enough if you are staying for any length of time. We didn't eat there in the evening.

The staff at the hotel we found to be very good. All were very friendly and very helpful. The restaurant staff in particular were excellent. They all work very hard and try their best to make you feel welcome.
The hotel location is very good. It is halfway up the hill from the marina and the views are excellent.
Overall this hotel is probably more like 3 star. However, it has potential and could be really nice with some additional investment and some fine tuning.

Room Tip: It's worth paying extra for sea view

Stayed in the hotel from 20th to 25th August 2013. We had a lovely stay in a clean and friendly hotel. Room was clean, tidy and well air conditioned. The view from the balcony was stunning over looking the harbour. Our room was cleaned eveyday with fresh towels. Had a mini bar in our room with refreshing bottles of water and cans of Fanta, useful shower items in the bathroom such as combs, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razor, shower gel, hand soap and shampoo. All staff greeted us daily with a polite hello and receptionists were helpful and polite. Swimming pool was great, it was clean and a perfect size for all to use. It is a bout a 10 to 15 minute walk to the beach with a small collection of shops and resturants near by. Only negatives are in the evenings there is no entertainment and as Portals Nous is a small village we did struggle to find things to do after we had dinner. It appears to be a quiet hotel which we felt needed an atomosphere as it appeared to us that even though there is a large sized bar area no one was drinking at it the whole week we were there?! We visited Majorca a couple of years ago and the hotel we stayed at treated us to singing, dancing and a quiz or 2 every night and that is what this hotel needs!

We stayed from 18th August for one week. On arrival we were asked if we wanted an upgrade and we said didn't.The first room we were given was quite dreary and view was not good. We paid seventy euros for sea view. Much brighter and bigger room. View was lovely. Furniture on balcony rather odd. Old style glass coffee table with 2 dining room chairs. The room service was extremely good. We had our room cleaned every day and towels always changed on request. The air conditioning in the room was excellent. The main shower flooded the whole bathroom due to a bad seal on the shower screen we used the bath shower after this happened. We found all the staff in the hotel to be friendly. The pool area is nice enough and a relaxing area. Again the pool side furnishings could be better and more welcoming. Drinks were reasonable. We did not eat at all in hotel. So could not comment. The bar area was always empty. We paid £350 pp including flights for the week had we paid more we may have been disappointed. As with other reviews I would agree that hotel is not what you would expect from a four star. The hotel is in a good location and overall we enjoyed our stay.
