This is a lovely little day trip out if you're staying in Menorca and want something a bit different to do. The National Park is easy to find, and has a small visitor centre where you can get a map and look at the guides. There are 3 walks, 2 you can do from the visitor centre, and one from Es Grau (the small coastal town a short drive away). None are very long (he said 20 and 30 minutes but it took us longer) but if you're not used to dry heat, they are long enough! The ground is rocky so not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs (we carried our baby in a carrier), except the path from Es Grau, which is also shaded.

There's a good range of wildlife which is easy to spot. We saw an egret colony, 4 kinds of fish, various ducks, different kinds of grasshoppers, a couple of lizards, a black rabbit, and best of all, a tortoise! There are pretty trees, flowers and cacti as well.

Take plenty of water and your binoculars and enjoy a nice trip out.

A small, relatively quiet and very pretty fishing village just North of Mahon. It has a lovely, sandy beach that is very safe for children, and on the other side of the village a rocky cliff walk out towards the sea. You can also get a boat trip to the nearby island. A couple of good restaurants, (Es Molls and Tamarinds), both of which have lovely relaxing views over the bay. Unless you are a total nature freak, don't bother to visit the nearby nature reserve. The Albufera is practically dried up.

The sand on this beach didn't seem very clean, smell from the nearby river was not nice. Nothing really on this beach. Not the prettiest of bays on the island, wouldn't bother to return here.

Visited this area as part of a Secrets of Menorca tour and wondered why we bothered. It was raining when we walked round the reserve to be told it was not the right time to see birds etc as most birds were migratory and it was the wrong time of year to see birds!

We went for a late dinner at Can Bernadet on 9 September 2013. This was the last day of the Mahon Festes so our preferred dining venue Bar Es Moll (excellent!!!) was closed as were many other restaurants in the Mahon area.

The festes holiday meant that not many fishing vessels had gone out over the weekend and there was a shortage of fresh seafood. Our waiter at Can Bernadet helpfully confirmed this when offering us the menu.

Unfortunately what was brought to the table was barely edible. However, being hungry, and needing to hurry to get to the fireworks in Mahon, we decided to attempt it. I left half my scorpion fish (28Euros), it was rubbery and slimey and had possible been cooked sometime earlier that evening. The calamari rings had similarly been overcooked or possibly reheated. The steak, egg and chips would have embarassed any greasy spoon.

When our waiter enquired we informed him that we were disappointed, but rather than investigate, offer apologies or make a suggestion of an alternative dish he implied that we were the problem.

It is likely that many have had good experiences at Can Bernadet, Perhaps we were there on a bad day.
