Booked a weeks holiday at the apartments, then started reading over some reviews and wondered if we should have changed our accommodation but we decided to see what like when we arrived.

We were given (no 35) and found the apartment very spacious, bathroom really big and clean, stepped out on to our terrace and the pool right in front of us. Normally we like to have an top floor apartment (don't like beasties coming in) but as no lifts this would have been impossible with a 10 month old. As it turned out, most people with babies/small children were put in the ground floor ones. We were very lucky, there was an elderly couple above us and we didn't know they were there until 2 days before we left and they had been there for over a week, no high heels at 1am or loud music. We were also lucky in that the rooms on either side of us had no people in them for the whole week.

When we heard the entertainment/music the first night, being a light sleeper, I thought - late night - but as the bedroom was to the back - we never heard anything. Most nights it finished at 11pm and we sat on our terrace and watched what went on. Simon who run the entertainment was really good and was not offended if you did not join in and would always stop and speak, thumbs up to him.

The only complaints we had , was that we had to go and ask reception if we could have clean towels on the 5th day and the maid did bring them very proptly to us but no beds were changed and no cleaning was done and you had to take your rubbish bags to the bins (which are situated next to the bus stop) we had to keep our plastic bags from the supermarket to use in the household bin as they did not provide spare bags. Also beware, don't put 4 euros in the tv slot as it runs all night and runs out best put in 1euro and remember not to leave on standby

The reception staff were very nice and helpful and because our pick-up time was not until 14.45 we asked if we could keep our room on longer (vacant time is 11.00am) with having the baby this we were allowed to do and did not charge us as the room was not getting used again that day, normal cost is 5euros per hour.

The spar supermarket across the road is handy but is bit pricey but handy to pop to if you run out. Walk down the road to the statue go along to the left past the fun-fair past the "TOP SUPERMARKET" and past the Lacoste shop go round the corner and across the road to the "ASDA" this is the cheapest. The fresh bread was half the price to the spar shop it also sells cold meat and cheese which they cut while you wait even cans of juice were cheaper.

We visited the Haiti restaurant three times, the two waiters were very nice and coped well with a very busy restaurant, they even went to the shop and bought the baby a little teddy, try their lasagne. The first chinese restaurant round the corner from the Haiti was very good and again the staff were friendly, although it was baby who got all the attention!

We went into town on the bus and because the stop was beside the hotel you get picked up and dropped off there really handy. Although you can walk it, it takes about an hour, wear comfy shoes!

Did find it expensive (but not Spain's fault) to go shopping and perfume at the airport was cheaper back home.

The Aparthotel was nice. Typical „British” with Bingo and Shows at night, for me this is too cheesy, but for sure many people like it, esp. for families it seemed to be good. The personal was nice, always helpful. It has a smaller area for families with small kinds/babies (also pool). At the stay we had was very heavy rainfall, very unusual for Menorca, and the water came into the apartment via the balcony. In general I would recommend it if you don’t want to spend too much time in the Hotel itself.

We originally should have been staying at the Cabo Banos apartments, The apartment was lovely and the views over the sea spectacular!!!! However, we had requested a top floor apartment, as we like to lie in, and usually people above walking around in heels wake us up. Also the cleaners made such a racket, from 7am. So we asked to be moved to a high floor. They couldnt move us till 2 days later, so we asked at the "sister" hotel Los Lentiscos. They did put us up. we had no choice of room as there was only 1 top floor apt. It was smelly but apart from that the apartment was very clean. There wasnt any entertainment at the Cabo Banos, but there was at Los Lentiscos, so that was a bonus. The staff bent over backwards to help. We loved it very much, (apart from the smell, which was ok if you left the windows open permanently, other than that we had a great time and would definately go again.) Loved the area too, though quite quiet its ideal for anyone wanting a relaxed holiday

Our planned trip to Greece was cancelled due to the flights being cancelled, so we had to find a holiday that fitted in with the time of work that we had booked and were a bit dubious about going to a 'family' resort (we are in our 40's- no kids).

However from day one we were delighted . We had a ground floor apartment overlooking the pool. The bathroom was large, immaculate, with a bath and decent shower. The bedroom clean and comfortable, the living area/kitchen spacious. There was a large fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster and a two-ring cooker all of which worked very well. The living area had a big dining table and a sofabed.

The large pool was cleaned every day and there were plenty of free sunbeds and parasols. The resident poolside entertainer -Simon- was a joy. Entertainment was fairly low-key- quiz in the morning- a bit of water volleyball in the afternoon for the kids- quiz and games in the evening- but it was never loud or obtrusive and stopped at 11pm ensuring a good nights sleep for us oldies!!

The brochure did advertise a gym but this was never open (probably due to the heat!!) and the onsite supermarket was very pooly stocked- but we were there at the end of season. There is a very nice supermarket just across the road though.

The apartments are situated about 2 minutes walk, on the flat from the numerous bars and restaurants all of which were pleasant. Sa Calderetta and Daisy's were particularly good.

There are several small and beautiful beaches all within 5-10 minutes walk. Calan Forcat was superb, A small sandy cove, but a walkway has been paved around the bottom of the cliff with lots of places to sunbathe. The water here was wonderful- crystal clear, filled with fish and as flat as a pancake- fabulous for swimming and snorkelling - we could have stayed there for ever.

The no 61 bus stops right outside the apartments and a 15 min trip for E1.45 takes you to Cuitadella, where connecting buses can be taken to various resorts, The busses are clean, reguar and air-conditioned which was most welcome in 34* of heat!! Cuitadella is a nice place to look around and has a very nice sandy beach. Also worth a Trip is San Tomas beach.

The only downside - no aircon. It was 34* during our stay which made the nights a bit uncomfortable. There was a large fan in the bedroom and with a bit of careful positioning we got through it. :-0

We did hope to hire a car - however the cheapest one were E60 a day which we felt was a bit of a rip off (E49 for 3 days in Greece!), but this is the fault of the recession and not the resort.

Loved it- would definately return.

The apartments were better than I expected, the bathrooms were clean no mould anywhere it was a shower curtain rather than a glass slide but the curtain looked new, the apartments were plenty big enough for 2 adults, a little cramped if you had children and the couch bed was only for young children. Biggest problem was no air conditioning unfortunately the weather was bad and rained every day at some point but this meant we could sleep at night, our first day had been hot and was very difficult to sleep at night on this basis alone I would not go back, it would be terrible for young children.

The complex is basic and 70's features all you can see is concrete buildings and floors around the pool area, loud music played everyday if you are trying to relax reading itsdifficult, some of the music played was 'freedom come freedom go and knock three times on the ceiling' I remember my parents lisening to that and there nearly 80 now.

Sunbeds didnt have the usual blue cushions/mats that you put on top, so you end up with an aching back and so ribs, people were going out at 07:30 to put towels on and thats before we new if it was going to rain. There was not enough sunbeds people were lying on the concrete floor and the people in the ground floor apartments were taking the beds in there balcony areas.

The resort was only a few hundred metres away for familes with young children there was plenty going on with huge bouncy castles, play areas and a water park for children under 12 I would guess.

Restaurants not very good and pricey, food not as good as pub meals at home and more expensive. Only found one restaurant that we could recommend and thats Es Forn
the food was very good and prices ranged from £5 - £70 most meals for main course around £12, 3 course meal around £30 - £40 every were for 2 people.

Would recommend Jimmy Hills bars, lovely comfy chairs and free entertainment starts at 10pm with tribute boy and girl bands and they even do a disney evening.

We paid for a cheap holiday and that was what we got with the accommodation but the restaurants are expensive for what they offer.

I would go back to menorca another resort and maybe in a villa.

Hi

Got back last Saturday from a 2 week holiday at the Los Lentiscos. The overall resort was a little quiet for me - wouldn't have been bad for a 1 week stay but little quiet for 2. There are some nice restaurants to choose from, we had a lot of meals in Los Delfines and I would certainly recommend this one.

There's not really much in the way of bars though. Jimmy Hills I would certainly recommend although I found this a little hard to find at first (go out of reception, walk up to roundabout and go straight across, Los Delfines on right hand side and the Es Forn restaurant was on the left. Just after the Es Forn restaurant is the Es Forn Shopping Centre, if you turn left here and walk through the back of the shopping centre past the bouncy castle and go karts, walk out of the back of the shopping centre and just to your right is a little ice cream stall, just as you walk past this look up to your right and there are two small doors with a sign over the tope of them saying The Square - you'll find Jimmy Hills through those doors.) There's always free entertainment on here just after 10pm and before that there's televisions on the walls with sport and the like on. They have the most amazingly comfy chairs, plus they sell Fosters and John Smiths, and the entertainment's pretty good too.

The apartments themselves are just what you need - we asked for a ground floor with a pool view and were literally a stones throw away from the pool (no 35). I've brought a plan home with me and I'm hoping to scan it in and post it as a picture. The apartments have sofa with pull out bed, twin beds in bedroom, kettle, toaster, hob, microwave and relatively big fridge/freezer. Apartments also come with a portable fan but to be honest you have to be on top of it for it to make any difference. The first week of our holiday it was so hot it was unreal. We brought an oscillating fan away with us and to be honest we were still roasting with this. Apparently you can loan extra fans if you need them from the supermarket just outside the reception (for a charge). Also, the supermarket that's just a bit further up the road (in the round shaped building with Tesco sign on the front of it) is a lot cheaper for your general groceries than the supermarket just outside the reception. Supermarket on site wasn't up too much very little in there.

Unfortunately the maid service is what let these apartments down for me - we had maid service 3 times over the 14 days we were there - the first time on maybe 4th or 5th day of stay. On the maid's 1st and 3rd visit they emptied the bin, left fresh towels and a loo roll. On the 2nd visit they did the same and changed the bedding. Most self catering holidays I have been on the maids have cleaned the rooms every 2 or 3 days, making up the beds, mopping floors and cleaning bathroom - none of this here. Your feet obviously get quite dirty walking across the floor to the pool and back and after the 1st week of our holiday bottom of the bath tub was looking a little grubby but it still didn't get cleaned. People we met at the apartments had complained to reception on their 5th day as they hadn't had a maid in their apartments - after this the maids regularly came in leaving 2 spare loo rolls, fresh towels and mopping floors.

The apartments were a good mix of British and Spanish and on the whole most of the Spanish were quite pleasant. I did find that the younger generation weren't as welcoming, they had a tendancy to look at you as if you shouldn't be there and I occasionally got a filthy glare. There were always plenty of sun beds around the pool and no need to fight for them in a morning (despite the fact that the Spanish were quite obviously coming in off the street to use the pool - the motor bike helmets they brought with them gave the game away).

Managed to find one of the coves at the back of the Los Lentiscos which was quite small and we had been told that the jellyfish were raging - I'm not a beach kind of a person - don't like the sand getting stuck all over my suntan lotion so didn't bother going back.

Simon the entertainer was a really nice guy. During the day there would be a quiz at about 11ish, water volleyball at 3.15 and maybe water armageddon at 4.15. He regularly got dragged into the pool and drowned by the kids (and adults). He was always a good sport. Happy hour at the bar between 12 and 1pm and then 8 and 9pm every day. Evening entertainment started at 10ish. During our first week the evening entertainment could have been better - to be honest we did mostly quizzes as there weren't a great deal of people around the pool bar. Simon's night off is a Wednesday so no entertainment on this day and that's when we found Jimmy Hill's bar. We enjoyed Challenge Cheeky, Endurance and Simon's Cabaret night. The parrot show was also good too, but be warned they take your photo with the parrots and then start writing out a receipt for the 10 Euros they expect you to pay for it there and then.

All in all it wasn't a bad holiday but I wouldn't go back for 2 weeks - could be tempted for 1 week maybe.

I'm sorry if this review seems a little bit negative I'm quite laid back and don't expect too much from a holiday and was hoping to be able to put a really good review up when I came back but I've been as honest as I can. Hope the review helps.

Have just spent 2 weeks here and would definitely return. Booked through Thomas Cook which proved excellent value for money. Requested ground floor overlooking the pool and got it!There are 2 pools and we got the smaller but quieter one.Entertainment takes place around the larger pool that you see in most of the photos.Would agree you get what you pay for but having read reviews we knew what to expect. Rooms are basic but perfectly adequate for a family of 4. Towels were changed regularly but I did have to ask the maid to change our bed linen after 6 days but she was happy to do so(I would recommend taking a phrase book though if you need to do this!) Had a portable fan provided in the room, but as temps. were hitting the low 40's we found that you could hire fans from the Spar supermarket opposite for 2 euros a day and 20 euro deposit.
-Colin was our Thomas Cook rep. He was excellent. Our daughter cut her foot and he called the doctor for us, arranged a cab to the medical centre and called in for the next few days to see how she was.
-Simon was in charge of the entertainment programme. He too was great and worked so hard. But he's not in your face and it's your choice as to whether you join in or not.
The best things for us was that there were Spanish families staying, on what seemed short breaks and no-one put towels on sunbeds until they sat on them! The Apartments are situated at the top of the resort so it is quieter but 2 minutes walk and you are in the centre of all the shops and restaurants. The credit crunch was noticable as the complex was certainly not full and lots of the restaurants were doing deals like free drinks and set meals- 3 courses for between 9 and 14 euros.
