“Friendly hotel with great beach locataion”
Reviewed 6 March 2009

Reina Isabel has a great location right on Canteras beach. Whilst it generally caters for older guests we were there with a young baby. Both staff and other guests were extremely friendly and welcoming. We had booked a sea view twin but were up graded to a sea view suite which was great. Only problem with baby was glass tables and split level in room. Room however was huge. We had two balconies facing slightly different ways so good for catching sun at different times. Breakfast offered a good selection of hot and cold food. Irish/UK style sausages. Las Palmas provides a unique combination of city and beach holiday - there are plenty of museums, shops, restaurants and also lovely golden sandy beach. We were there for carnival too which made it even more entertaining. I can't understand why more families don't go to Las Palmas instead of the southern resorts on the island which I thought were really tacky. Reina also has free parking which we availed of so we used our car to tour island as well as see Las Palmas.

This hotel was ideal for our week in Las Palmas. As independant travellers we like a centrally located hotel with every facility to hand. The food in the al le carte restaurant is first class with a wonderful view of the bay of Las Canteras. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a full variety of tastes being catered for. We found the staff very approachable and had no problems with service of food . There are limited number of sun bed around the pool in the eighth floor but they have an additional sun terrace and a private part of the beach with sun beds provided free of charge. It is advisable to have a sea view as the only passing traffic is pedestrian and thus limits the noise. We we there for carnival week and had no problem with noise at any time. An excellent hotel and we would be happy to return.

Booked through lastminute.com,Standard sea view room for 2,kingsize (or similar) requested on arrival allocated a twin.Hotel told us no doubles except in the suites, a maid was called who joined the two beds with the bed sheets. The Hotel was last renovated 1996 and 12 years on is in need of doing again, some of the decor is looking rather tatty and dated, the beds firm but saggy and the bathroom convenient enough for a 1960's design.
The hotels position couldn't be faulted - right on the beach, 5-10 mins from the bus station, many nearby shops of all types.
Breakfast again was hit and miss - really fresh orange juice, others from either tins or cartons, nice pastries and breads, fruit salad which was half fresh half tinned, there was a cook to prepare eggs but the scrambled in the hot plate was stale tasting even when just out the kitchen. We only had breakfast as plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walk.
All in all some very good points some not.

Booked this hotel after reading the good reviews on Trip Advisor. Found the hotel very comfortable, staff really helpful. Room faced the street, but didn't hear any traffic noise. Took our laptop and after initial problems logging on, was able to use it in the room, which was very useful. Terrific breakfast, only slight criticism was that at Dinner, dishes were not replenished very quickly and there was often a bit of a wait for basic items. Ideal position for exploring the town. Wonderful promenade to walk off the over eating! Would certainly stay in this hotel again. Booked through Sunshine Holidays, great deal.

  • Liked — Within easy walking distance of all amenities
  • Disliked — Slightly shabby rooms, very small TV in bedroom

The Reina Isabel is an excellent hotel in a prime position. It has a lovely beach a few short strides away,a beautiful prom which is used by many for all manner of purposes but is allways clean and litter free. The Hotel has a guest mix of many Nationalities but the holiday area in general is Spanish tourists and locals. It probably is about as near to real Spain as you can get in the Canaries. The City of Las Palmas is interesting and has a nice Cathedral,a lively market, plenty of shopping (not cheap for designer clothes)and many cafes/bars.The hotel rooms are good for Spain, the lobby and seafront bar are as good as you could possibly get.The rooftop pool and gym are of a very high standard and there is allways loungers. This is also the case on the beach, free loungers and parasol. We stayed on half board (great value)breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal you just had to avoid things that had stood for a while e.g pasta and veg in batter. There was plenty of fresh fish/meat straight off the grill. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly in all areas. The climate was great,25-30 in the day,20-24 at night.I would happily return to the Isabel at anytime of year.

Was here on business and the hotel was excellent. Got a good deal through Alpha Rooms. Everything about the room was of a high standard. The hotel was centrally located but noise was no problem. The hotel was right on the sea front. While the hotel was great, Las Palmas is not my sort of place. Fortunately I was here in business, so that didn't matter. If you do come here, then this is definitely a good hotel to stay in. Fantastic choice for breakfast.
