“Best restaurant on La Palma!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014 via mobile

Went here from Los Cancajos. Get the airport bus and walk down from the terminal onto the road, away from Los Cancajos. Restaurant is down the road on the left. Seafood here is great, packed with locals when we came on a sunday. Had an english menu, phew! V helpful staff. Well worth a visit even if you don't have a car. Look out for the cockerel.

“Excellent for what it is - a quirky no frills restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2014

We have already visited this restaurant three times and will go again before we leave La Palma. The menu is small but is all cooked fresh. The service is quick and efficient. The staff work hard and although don't speak English (why should they) try their best. The menu is in English as well as German and Spanish. The Cameron (shrimps) are excellent as are the mojo and aioli which we can't resist. The fish of the day varies to when you are there and we have had parrot fish amongst others. We have seen other people served sea bream. The local white wine is of good quality. The portions are large and we found a media portion of potato (delicious) and shrimps is ample for two of us. The planes do go over but they are a few a day and add to the atmosphere. Love this place. Excellent value for money.

“Unusual Restuarant , Brilliant fish”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2013

We were staying at The Hacienda Abajo in Tazacorte. However the fish there and at the Port did not reach expectations. Fortunately the receptionist advised me about the Casa Goyo.
Right underneath the flight path ( you can nearly touch the undercarriage) it was a selection of small rooms and a few outside tables, which can be breezy.
The bar was full of locals and the was a tame cockerel wandering about.
The starters of Shrimp ( the real tiny tasty ones) & small whole calamari was superb.
The fish was fresh & cooked to perfection. To top it all they even had Alborino to wash it down with & at 15 euros was a bargain.
Service is very speedy , which might take you by surprise
Highly recommended: provided you like local & unpretentious

“Not fancy, but the food is good and cheap”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2013

The restaurant is very near the aiport. Planes fly in 50 meters above your head. Luckily the are not too many planes arriving at that airport.
You eat in small simple huts or rooms. Not a nice atmosphere, but somehow funny.
Food is very good and prices are unbeaten.
We had fish and calamaris.
Went there 2 times during our 2 week stay.

“A dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

Having lived on La Palma for some years, visiting family are wont to have a mental list of their favourite restaurants .. so far. At the moment, Casa Goyo is pretty much at the top of that list.
Maybe it's the ambiance that is the big influence. After all, it is hardly normal to eat is a wooden shack that looks as if it started out life as a tree house. Yes, it's that basic - but it works.
Or perhaps it's the fact that planes come in to La Palma airport practically over your head - hardly something that one would normally seek of a restaurant but somehow, it all comes together magnificently and eating there feels like you are on a bit of an adventure.
The food's not bad either. The first time we went to eat there, we asked for the menu but the waitress explained (in Spanish) that there wasn't a menu as it depended what fish had been caught that day. Feeling quite wary that we may be taken for a ride with the price, we continued to press to see something written down. In anser to our request, the chef appeared with a large knife. OK, we were won over.
Casa Goyo is the place for simple, fresh, well-presented, first rate fish cooked by people who really know what they are doing and all at a fair price.
If you're not sure what to have, just leave it to your waitress - they are used to tourists who are not too sure what to expect. Other than that - ask for salad to start, followed by fish of the day, papas arrugados (wrinkly potatoes Canarian style. Enjoy!
