Definitely a must-see if you are going to Lanzarote. We went on a coach trip - fantastic views, you really get a feel for what it was like there after the eruption, the landscape has been looked after very well. Great demonstrations and a very interesting trip! A MUST SEE !!!!!!!!!

“Take a bus trip, not your own car”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

Definitely not to be missed, but better if you take an early morning bus trip as this means you are not queueing in your car for ages.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

Booked trip through our hotel (last minute tours - half a day south 20 euro adult 10 euro child up to 11 years - not too bad price and only paid deposit in hotel and balance on bus)
English speaking tour guide (Germa) very good and her commentry was enjoyable and interesting without being boring
Visited camels first - theres extra charge to ride 12 euro per camel but well woth it and 5 euro a picture or take your own if you can - camel guide did for us which was surprising.
Then back on bus to go to top of volcano for look at heat sources/grill etc.. bit rushed but enough to see experiments as very busy.
Then back on bus and taken through craters - amazing to see and experience even if looking through a bus window as you can't walk around. You go really high up and look down at camels and realise how far up the bus has climbed. Pictures we have are great. Then on to vineyard for very quick wine tasting. Got picked up at 9.30 am and were back at 2pm so not too long on bus for kids to get too bored looking at scenery :-)

“Can't go to Lanzarote and not go here”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

No trip to Lanzarote is complete without a trip to Timanfaya. Hotels do coach trips, but if you can, go by car or taxi and get here super early before the crowds as it does get very busy. Excellent for kids. They do food, it's not too bad and they cook meat over the volcano. Coffee is pretty good as far as a tourist location goes. I went as a small kid and later with my husband, it represents my memories of Lanzarote. DO NOT pass up the chance to take the coach ride around the national park. This is an absolute must. It is like the landscape of mars, or even better. You see things you never would and you are not allowed to drive around the park on your own. I believe you can do an accompanied walk, again not allowed on your own, but never tried.

“Must see when visiting the Island”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

We hired a car and drove to the main volcanic area. I would recommend either setting out early or later in the day to avoid the lengthy traffic queues if travelling by car - coaches just drive straight through. The main tour is on bus on a very windy road. I do get coach sick and it was a bit swirly for me but not too long so doable. The landscape is amazing and certainly worth the visit. Amazing views and following the visit to the volcano we went to El Golfo and Hervideros which are also amazing to see.
