We booked this holiday wanting a luxury break before Christmas. We arrived and shown to our room or should we say (cave) we were in a ground floor room that was dark with no sea view! We had requested a first floor room with a view. We were told that the hotel was full. So we made the decision we would go with it!
The food was very disappointing! First night the sole we wanted there was only one portion left! My husband took the pollock I had sole, it was cold, and full of bones, breakfast was no better, the lack of choice was surprising! The cereal was very limited and poor quality. Hot food was eggs, fried sometimes scrambled and very crisp bacon! The eggs were always pre cooked and stacked in a covered hot plate! You couldn't find a soft egg even if you arrived before the 8.30 start! Not what we expected from a small 5 star hotel. For the size of hotel they could have easily cooked eggs to order! Dinner didn't improve! Still cold and poor quality produce. I did complain to the English chef after we had the worst meal! We wanted duck, they had run out, again! The alternative lamb chops. They arrived, cold with white uncooked fat, but even worse it was served with the orange/ cinnamon sauce, it was dreadful. I did tell the chef that the meal was awful, like every meal I had eaten! He was embarrassed quite rightly so! I must say that the temperature improved after the complaint. But the quality of food certainly didn't. The staff in the hotel were just amazing! But they were stretched, when the hotel was full, they had to serve at the bar and serve dinner! They did their best and all worked very hard! Nothing was too much trouble!
The pool was not heated as advertised, the jacuzzi empty throughout our 10 day stay, and the sun beds were so uncomfortable! The pads are thin and the beds old with splinters! Some with wonky wheels. The hotel is just not managed! There should be a manager their every day! We didn't see any managers during our stay! The hotel is isolated and if you don't hire a car a long walk into Arrecife. The hotel bikes were in demand and pretty old. Despite our negative comments we enjoyed our holiday! This hotel could be perfect but they are cutting corners, the quality of the food needs to be improved, and fresh produce used, more choice for breakfast and dinner! Our comments are meant to be constructive criticism! Janice & Peter Barnfather, Milton Keynes, bucks uk.

Room Tip: If you don't want a cave, go for the first floor rooms. The lightest cave was our room, number 1...

You don't need a view when you stay at a place like this! The staff, accomodations, food, etc. are excellent. From the moment I arrived until check out was very pleasant. I purchased a few bottles of wine that were available and manager offered to place them in my room as a convenience. They even accomodated us to eat on our veranda outside of our room (which I must admit is non-standard, however, we asked and they delivered). Our meal was impecable; not even a hint of a criticsm. Upon our early check out (0600) manager offered to prepare a fresh serving of coffee.

Rooms, pool area, bar area, restaurant, all is excellent. HIghly recommend this location.

Quiet and well appointed with attentive smiling staff who are friendly and helpful to a fault.
Pleasantly located only 12 mins walk ( or 5 on a bike provided by the hotel)to Arrecife, this attractively designed hotel occupies a convenient location, handy for the airport and close to some pleasant beaches.
The pool area with private sheltered lounging areas are a delight and there is an easy going feel to the whole hotel conducive for a relaxing holiday.
As a stressless winter venue it takes some beating....

My girlfriend and I spent a week here from the 29th September and it exceeded our expectations. From the time we arrived we immediatley started switching off and the hotel and service was A+. Every afternoon we went for a bike ride down the coast to Playa Honda which was 15 mins away and Carmen which was about 40 mins. I found the location great also for going for runs along the promenade and did this every morning. All the staff were fantastic including Daniel who couldnt have been any more helpful. We will definitley be returing for another visit !

My wife and I spent a week here from 30th August 2013 on a package with Inspired Luxury Escapes. The deal was for half board in a suite with a private hot tub on the terrace. We were welcomed by Julia who throughout our stay was wonderful and always had a smile. As were all the staff to be fair even including the cleaners. Daniel was also a delight and nothing was too much trouble.
The Hotel has just 14 Bedrooms and is immaculate throughout, very stylishly furnished and gives the feel of a large villa rather than a hotel which was important to us as we don't like the massive resort style hotels. What we hadn't expected was to be the only ones staying in the hotel for half the week! We were a bit unsure about that at first but by the time some other guests did arrive we almost resented the intrusion!!
Our suite was beautiful with a large seperate lounge. big dressing room with masses of wardrobe space. a twin basin batroom and seperate loo and a large Bedroom with a terrace off. There were patio doors from the lounge into a semi circle shaped garden enclosed by a high wall giving total seclusion, this housed the hot tub ( ideal for chilling out with a drink under the stars). The hotels dining room, lounge, bar etc were great. We had all our meals in a covered but open sided terrace next to the pool. Having read other reviews about the quality of the food we went expecting to eat out in the evenings, but I think the critisims are unfair. We had some lovely evening meals, freshly cooked and very nicely presented, there was just one where a chicken breast was overdone. Yes they did only have a choice of two starters, two main courses and three deserts, but we had no complaints. For breakfast there was always a plate of fresh fruit and cold meats on out table when we sat down and then all the usual cold things were available and they would cook you just about anything you wanted. Another feature we liked was the bikes you could just borrow whenever you liked, no need to book them or pay a deposit and we had a great time cycling along the wide promenade which streches for miles.
This is a great adult only hotel, ideal if you are looking for peace and quiet and personal discreet service. There is not an English Pub in sight! We would thoroughly recommend it

Room Tip: If you can, go for a suite with a hot tub

Hotel is delightful, tastefully decorated with helpful staff. During our weeks stay there were only ever 6 guests staying and so very quiet, relaxing and exactly the break we wanted.
Breakfast was very good although the first days was the best with our own platter of fruit and basket of breads, plus a pot of coffee. Afterwards it was help yourself to these from the buffet. Not a problem but why not be consistent and why from then on only a cup of coffee and no pot offered.
The most disappointing thing for us and the other guests staying was the quality of the evening meal. It was dreadful, especially the first 3 nights of our stay. It might be a 5 star hotel but the food barely reaches 3 star. We did complain and it seems the chef changed and the food improved a little but really this is not acceptable for the standard of hotel. Presentation, taste and quality of ingredients were just awful. Perhaps using this delightful hideaway only on a B&B basis would be best.

Room Tip: We booked a suite but later were told it was unavailable but the room given to us was not huge but a...

Like most other reviewers, we found it absolutely great. The staff are wonderful, and the peace is amazing. The staff don't bother you, but they seem to magically appear whenever needed - They are all very friendly and helpful. I still can't figure out how it can be so peaceful when it's about 5 minutes drive from the airport, but it is! The hotel seems to run perfectly well without an on-site manager. Apparently the manager visits once every couple of weeks. We believe we had a sighting of the manager, and I've included a photo as proof that the manager really does exist.

READ BELOW REGARDING TRAVEL FROM AIRPORT!

Again, like many reviewers, we found the food disappointing, varying from quite literally inedible (one night only) to perfectly OK but not outstanding. It's odd because the rest of the experience is very definitely 5 stars by any international standards. However, I find that food in the Canaries is generally mediocre compared to mainland Europe, and I would have to admit that the Villa Vik's food is better than most Canarian food.

TRAVEL FROM THE AIRPORT. The cost of a taxi from the airport is stupidly high. It's literally a 5 to 10 minute journey, which is why we hired a car. The cost of the car hire for a week was less than the cost of a taxi to and from the airport (and you do really need a car if you want to explore this strangely beautiful island). There is a catch, though. It took us 2 hours to do the 5 minute journey from the airport because the directions given are totally inadequate. Also the people of Lanzarote, whilst incredibly helpful and friendly, have no idea whatsoever how to give foreigners directions (even in Spanish). Even the police couldn't help us. And don't expect your satnav to help. Our TomTom had a nervous breakdown trying to find the hotel. So here is the message. Leave the airport heading towards Arrecife. When you get to a petrol station on your right on the motorway (before Arrecife), drive INTO the petrol station. Bizarrely, you then drive through the petrol station, but instead of going back onto the motorway, as you leave the petrol station, you immediately turn RIGHT and then LEFT (NOT onto the motorway). Then turn right again and the hotel is down that road, on your left. The journey time from the petrol station to the hotel is less than 1 minute. If you are driving for any longer than that, then you are lost. Try very hard not to go into Arrecife, as the one way system is horribly convoluted, and you will probably remain in the one way system for the next few days!

I've included a couple of photos of the exit from the petrol station in the hope that they will help

Room Tip: Everyone we spoke to thought their rooms were great. We stayed in an upstairs room overlooking the...

Dear customer,

Thank you very much for your kind comments, and for taking the time for sharing your experience with everybody.

Really your explanation about location of the hotel is great, thank you, we are sure this will be very useful for our future guests. We know it is difficult to find the hotel if you do not know the island.

We hope to welcome you in a next opportunity in our hotel.
