Valle San Lorenzo
Five out of Five in its Class
Stupid comment really, as what class is it in? Well so far, in a class of its own.
We come from Jersey, so, the justifiable obsession with fish that most people have when coming on holiday to Tenerife or Spain does not hold true for us as we have loads at home.
I have long been looking for a carnivore's heaven and thought I was out of luck.
However this restaurant fits the bill perfectly. A simple Traditional Spanish Grill!
Off the beaten track up in the hills above Los Cristianos in Valle de San Lorenzo. Set down off the main road. We were greeted by the manager in the car park who kindly ordered us to park in a private area to protect our 'over the top' hire car.
Inside, basic tables for four, and an eclectic collection of ephemera hanging from the roof.
No menu - the manager simply recited the starters and mains - in English which was a bonus.
We chose two starters of black pudding and fresh goats cheese with loads of 'odds and sods dips', which were made primarily of garlic.
Main courses of half a chicken and a rack of pig ribs with chips.
The meats are simply grilled over charcoal.
A bottle of good quality local wine and a couple of espressos.
Total bill = €35!
Yes thirty five euros for two persons including an excellent wine.
The black pudding was awesome, cinnamon and pine nuts and black pudding stuff.
Ribs were covered in meat and not over cooked
The chicken succulent, again cooked just enough to be decent.
At almost double the price it would have been worth it.
Thanks to Bill and Sarah-Jane Bailey of Casa del Limonero Arona for the recommendation.
