“Awesome waves!”
Reviewed 26 December 2013

Bollullo beach is a secluded black sand beach in a cove. It's a bit of a walk, as others have said, but it's worth it. The sea is powerful here, so not for swimming, but the waves are magnificent! The cafe sells drinks and snacks. The toilets are primitive, but are better than nothing!

“Worth the walk”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

very long walk to get there - not great in the heat. however, the beach was lovely and much better than others we visited in the area. 1 bar serving food and drinks but the toilet was horrendous - take some hand gel and your own tissues. i would also recommend taking your own food and drink and just getting the odd bits from the bar. its not over priced but could get expensive getting everything from there and there is nowhere else you can go.

the sand was lovely, black and sparkly. there was a life guard on duty and the water was fab although the waves were quite big.

overall, it was well worth the trek there and back.

“Of the beat path track beach”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

A nice beach with a soft and dark sand but sea is there rough good for surfers. So one must be careful while swimming, the currents or waves can be too strong. Unfortunately the beach is about one hour walk from Puerto de la Cruz downtown but still worth of walking so far away. This is the beach where you can meet the locals. There is also nice café. The access by car is not easy, the road is tiny. Private parking is just 1,50€.

“Lovely black beach”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

An interesting walk along the coast/banana plantations takes you to Bollullo, where there as a great cafe with typical canarian meal of the day. When you approach the beach don't look over the wall - where it seems half of Tenerife have thrown their rubbish. Go down to the beach and watch the waves crashing in - wonderful

“A beach , but not for the fainthearted.”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

Bollullo is about 20minutes 'walk' from La Paz through the banana plantation, down the baranco, up again, past the restaurante and down to the first beach there the bar provides cold beer and generous sandwiches. The sand is Black and Hot, the surf can be dangerous, but the situation warrants the effort. If you are really adventurous carry on another 10 minutes through the bushes and down one of the crumbling 'paths' to the eastern beach, quieter than the first, but if you've forgotten your bikini/trunks you'll blend in with those who didn't bother to bring them in the first place.
