I have been to this hotel many times to chill out and recharge! And it never fails to do that! I love the pool area it's so relaxing! And the surrounding gardens are so lovely! The staff are so friendly nothing is too much trouble! I love the spa area with all the different pools! Infact there is nothing I don't like about this hotel!

We had two glorious weeks in August at the Hotel Botanico.

We have stayed in many hotels worldwide and to be honest our expectations before this trip were
modest but how wrong can you be!
The moment we arrived we were immediately struck by the very friendly and helpful staff and this continued throughout our stay.

The rooms are not on the large side but very clean and well maintained.
The view we had facing the swimming pool and mountain was breathtaking and being a family of four we had interconnecting rooms which was a bonus with two boys aged 12 and 15 years.

The swimming pool is well managed by George the lifeguard who works extremely hard while also making time to deal with the guests various requests. There are plenty of sun beds available any time of the day and we were glad the hotel also has a seperate adult only spa pool as this gives people the chance for some peace and quite should they prefer.

The breakfast in the hotel had a good selection of food which was very fresh and well presented.
We often ate lunch by the poolside and again this was nice with options of tapas and freshly made sandwiches etc - perfect for a light meal.
We didn't eat dinner in the hotel as there are so many restaurants in the area.
The favourite for us was Oliva which is around the corner opposite the Botanic Garden.
This restaurant is run by a Scottish lady and they serve Morrocan,German and Spanish dishes.
It has to be said that we ate there half of the time.

We hired a car and went up to Mount Teide which was a fantastic scenic drive
and we also visited a pretty historic town called Oratava which is 10 minutes away by car.
We also visited Loro Parque and Siam park which were both good days out for the kids.

The weather in this part of the island is slightly cooler that the south which worked well for us as we like to play tennis and the facilties here are more than adequate with two floodlit courts.
They also offer free tennis coaching for guest once a week.

This hotel is a good example of the staff from the cleaners to the managers being proud of the services they provide and normally we wouldn't return to the same hotel but we are sure this will be one of the few exceptions that we make.

Located within beautifully landscaped gardens, this traditional hotel offers exceptional customer service. From the moment you arrive you arrive greeted with a smile and friendly, well trained staff.
All the staff on reception where very helpful, the bell hop who escorts you to the room creates an initial good impression and this was the case with all the staff throughout the holiday, from the restaurant staff, Spa Garden staff, maids, pool boys, nothing is too much trouble for them. I suppose you could sum it up by saying this hotel provides great hospitality with staff going the extra mile in customer service..

The setting is about 20 mins walk downhill out of Puerto de la Cruz, does provide an aura of tranquillity; and exclusivity, the grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained.
Sweeping round two wings of the hotel is the main garden area, with access from the bar hall & breakfast area, this is where the main swimming pool is located (there is also a small children’s pool in this area). There are plenty of sun beds & umbrellas set either round the pools or in the gardens.
Another feature of this garden area is the two koi carp pools linked by a waterfall and it’s from here where guests come to feed the fish from the bridge in the morning after breakfast – a very relaxing start to the day.

The Oriental Spa Garden set on the opposite side of the hotel, open from 8.00 till 8.00 and only available to guests over 16. This is really one of the best features of the hotel, if you just want to chill & relax in quiet surroundings this is place to come. You must come down to the Spa in your bathrobe & slippers. Once passing through the reception area, you walk past koi carp pools and the well equipped gym down to two grand thai carved doors which open to another reception area where staff will provide you with two towels and you can make you way to either the outside pool area or the treatment rooms and indoor pool area.
There are two outdoor pools both heated, one is just a swimming pool, and the second has a number of Jacuzzi beds, there is a separate Jacuzzi located in cave area just behind the swimming pool. The Spa offers a thermal water circuit programme using the various steam rooms, sauna, ice room and the Jacuzzi’s. A variety of treatment programmes are available.
Lemon tea is provided in the Spa.

Free wifi is provided throughout hotel, with good reception everywhere.

The air conditioned rooms are traditional in style, comfortable, with plenty of storage space, mini bar, safe and TV with a variety if channels including BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 & news channels. The beds are on the firm side but linen is changed every day (if you want it) and an evening turndown is provided. On the balcony are two chairs & a table, if you like to enjoy a pre dinner drink and catch the late afternoon/ early evening sunshine book a sea view room, these rooms over look the putting green and towards the sea in the distance.

The marble bathrooms feature a shower over the bath, twin sinks, magnifying shaving mirror, hairdryer, bidet, plenty of good quality towels, bathrobes & slippers and a good supply of toiletries.

As you would expect from a hotel of this standard, breakfast offers a great choice, fresh fruit cereals, yogurts, cakes & pastries, cold buffet including an area where special dietary requirements are met – gluten free breads & cakes, diet marmalade etc. A chef staffs the hot breakfast area, making omelettes, fresh fried eggs, pancakes etc and ensuring the self service hot selection is well stocked. You can eat either outside on the terrace over looking the pool & gardens or inside.
As you arrive for breakfast you are provided with a single page newspaper in a variety of languages giving you the news headlines & the activities and programme of events occurring in the hotel, whilst we were there these ranged from cocktail making to flower arranging in the bar hall, aqua aerobics & stretching exercises’ in the Spa Garden & gym and the evening entertainment in the Bar Hall.

We ate in the Oriental Restaurant, which was OK, but not exceptional, the service was very good, food was fine but we felt lacking a bit in Thai style presentation – perhaps this may just be a personal thing.

The hotel also provides a courtesy bus is down into Puerto de la Cruz during the weekdays and Saturday morning. Taxis are also available into town only about 4 euro’s.

Fresh flower arrangements are located throughout the hotel, and there is even a fresh rose placed in your bathroom- again small touches but these do add to general aura and style of the hotel.

There is a large supermarket well stocked set in the Cupola Centre about 5 mins walk from the hotel (turn right out of the hotel drive) and a variety of small shops, bars and restaurants close by, however don’t expect to find many upmarket places to eat close by the hotel.

We also visited Loro Parque and had a great day out, again beautiful gardens, good attractions (Orca whale show, sea lions, dolphins, penguin area, as well as parrot show) white tigers, otters, etc. The park is incredibly clean & tidy, and well managed but buy your tickets from the hotel reception to avoid queuing at the venue and take a taxi it’s only about 6 euro’s.
Top tip – go later in the day – the park is open until about 18.30, the coaches for visitors from the southern resorts seemed to depart around 16.00ish
It is easier to the see the shows later in the day, we went to the Orca show at 15.15 and it was half empty as opposed to the 13.15 show where they were queuing for seats.

So in summary, a great luxury hotel in a beautiful setting offering exceptional levels of customer service, recommended if you want to chill and relax.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room if you want to catch the late afternoon/evening sunshine

Fantastic experience here just for three-four days. I've stayed at hundreds of hotels/resorts and this is easily in the top five overall. The room was simple but elegant, the facilities were top-class, the food was fantastic (breakfast!), staff were the best I've seen in any hotel or restaurant or anything. You could easily spend a week without leaving the hotel -- or not, since Puerto de la Cruz is a nice walk down the hill. Highly, highly recommended.

We really liked this hotel. It has class and all the amenities you wish for. However the foremost asset of this great hotel is the people. They always had a smile, a nice comment or other gesture in orderto make you feel welcome. Our children also enjoyed the stay!

The hotel is well worth a visit! You will come back I am sure.

Bill Clinton and Placido Domingo - not to say various Royal families - evidently share great taste.

Hotel Botanico combines great facilities (outdoor pools, tennis courts, putting green) with a team that go the extra mile and genuinely enjoy being part of it. The hotel attracts a healthy mix of young families and seniors from across Europe and beyond.

Breakfast is served indoors and outdoors, offering something for everyone. We particularly enjoyed Il Pappagallo - well managed (Suzanne), with first class food and service. For those looking for a change of scene in the evenings, Magnolia (across the road) is a compelling alternative - try the fillet steak stuffed with prawns and avocado. For something a little different, Mamma Rosa (in town) is worth a visit. For (delightful) coffee and cake, El Aderno is a couple of minutes walk down the hill and - for us - proved a regular fixture.

The reading room is a nice spot to lose yourself in the Daily Telegraph or a book from the burgeoning collection (ordered in Spanish, German and English).

Visits to La Orotava and, farther afield, up Mt Teide were most rewarding.

Special mention must go to Steph and colleagues at the Botanico Kinder Aventura, who arrange action-packed trips/VIP access to Loro Parque for some of the smaller guests.

The 10 glorious days passed much too quickly - the perfect backdrop for our daughter's fifth birthday.

We spent ten days here recently and have already booked to go back in the new year. There really is nothing new I can add to previous reviewers comments. For us this hotel is sheer perfection. Work being fairly demanding, I absolutely need to have a totally calm, peaceful and relaxing time on holiday. The Botanico delivers and then just keeps on delivering! The staff are utterly charming. The spa is sensational, being a quite separate, very large area to one side of the hotel, for over 16's only set in stunning, oriental themed gardens. We loved having breakfast outside by the pool, and afterwards strolling through the beautiful gardens, over the wooden bridge in the middle of the lake, watching the koi carp and the black swans compete for food. There is a complimentary bus into the centre of Puerto, but we walked both ways usually and that took us roughly 20 minutes. Yes it is quite steep on the way back! Our room had a panoramic view over red tiled roof tops to the sea and was a lovely spot to sit and watch the sun go down .Thank you to everyone at The Botanico for making this place so very special. Hasta la proxima vez!
