“Hotel good, resort disappointing.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2014

Hotel as good as last year and food much better. The room we were allocated on arrival was very small and difficult to move between end of bed and furniture. A very helpful Mathilde on reception offered us a sea view room which was perfect and had plenty of space. The hotel is kept very clean, the room cleaned every day and a pleasure to return to after a day out. The restaurant gets congested at times and you just have to be patient. Staff are helpful and efficient but not many smiles from the waiters. Food choice at breakfast and dinner is extensive, and choices kept well topped up. Drinks are ordered and brought to the table quickly. We were perfectly happy with the hotel but this was our 4th visit to Puerto de la Cruz and probably our last. The promenade which is difficult to negotiate at busy times was made even more difficult by wire fencing dividing it. They were supposed to be renovating it but very little work was being done. We saw 2 people tear their clothes on the fencing as it was difficult to pass in places. Apparently the work should have been finished in January but had hardly started in March. Rubbish has become a problem on the front. The bins are too small and should be emptied during the day. At the weekend they weren't emptied at all and there was litter everywhere and bins overflowing. It is impossible to relax and enjoy a rest or drink anywhere without being continually pestered by African sellers. Nobody seems to buy from them and they are more persistent than ever. They hide their goods quickly when the police appear but are back to annoying people as soon as they've gone.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms ending in 02 they are too small

Visited this hotel at the end of march. Hotel has a great location on the promenade but be warned if you want a relaxing, quiet hotel do not stay here. We asked for a high floor room as had been warned of the noise however a room at the back of hotel with lovely view of mountain and pool area means opposite the disco and very little sleep. Sat night the noise continued until 7am. Not acceptable !! Hotel needs to improve the patio doors as it felt we were in the disco. Food was ok and foyer needs improvement as not very welcoming. Staff on the whole friendly but sure there must be nicer places to stay in puerto de la cruz which we did enjoy as a resort. Not a 4 star hotel. Have stayed in nicer 3 stars

Hotel in the main square of Puerto De La Cruz rooms and bed comfortable. Hotel requires TLC in many areas, food was the worst I ever came across and we have been all over Europe many times, entertainment some nights OK
drinks can be expensive if you like your liquid go all inclusive,if like us we went out most nights for food and drinks and we where full board.
I would not use this hotel again we have been many times to the Casablanca apartments and intend to return next to these apartments they are just fabulous

Room Tip: poolside rooms are better they have the sun on them all day

We had a lovely room on the 9th Floor with a huge balcony and sea view. Thankfully we were at the end of the corridor, as shoes ended to squeak on the tiles. The reception staff were very helpful. There is no parking, if you have a hire car you can drop off the suitcases almost right at the door, and then head off to park a good 10 mins walk away where there is free parking near the Port. There was a reasonable variety of food for breakfast, but no boiling water for making tea [only warm water] and the drinking water was lukewarm, came from the same machine as the Juices, so presumably they were at the same Temperature.

Room Tip: Corner rooms have larger balconies. The 2 rooms without balconies that I viewed were quite small.

Hard to review this hotel. Nothing particularly wrong but totally lacking any attraction. The ground floor reception area is dark and unprepossessing, there is nothing welcoming about it. Lifts are cramped in a corner and are always busy. Staff are polite and helpful but lack warmth, very much going through the motions. The rooms are a fair size and clean enough but the beds are hard and the TV is ancient - I haven't seen one so bulky for years. We had a room overlooking the pool & Mt Teide, with a vertigo inducing balcony that sloped outwards. Noise every night from a nightclub across the road until 5.30am even with the two double glazed balcony doors and blackout curtain. I complained at reception at about 2.30am and the receptionist called the police but nothing improved. Not the hotel's fault but not what I was expecting especially at the beginning of February.
Area outside the restaurant again very drab. Restaurant itself is ok but somehow the food is not appetising. There is plenty of choice but nothing that says "eat me; I'm delicious" You don't starve but it's not a treat.
I think the hotel is being run in a very cost-efficient manner and everything is being squeezed, maintenance, staff, food ingredients - everything is at the minimum level they can get away with and it shows.

We wanted to go back to Puerto de la Cruz as had a brilliant time last year. Decided to go for a hotel in the town this year rather than on the hill. After reading various reviews on Trip Adviser we decided this was the hotel for us. Very glad we made that decision. We arrived around 9pm and received an excellent welcome at reception, they all speak good English, which is a relief to a typical Brit abroad. It might have been late, but they made sure we had all the information we needed and pointed us towards the restaurant where they were still serving. We dumped our cases in our room and went to the restaurant. The food is good and plentiful. There was quite a large selection from snacks to a good hot meal. The restaurant staff were very friendly and made sure we had a drink and knew where to go. Breakfast was also good. You can have just about anything you want, including a great section where they cook eggs etc to order.
Now onto the room. The room was large and clean. We had a balcony overlooking the pool which got the sun for most of the day. The room was cleaned every day and they changed the sheets and towels once during the week. My only moan about the room was the bed. It was so hard it was like sleeping on a slab of concrete. Still, on the plus side it did mean that we were up and ready quite a bit earlier in the day, a lie in would have caused complete back melt down. The bathroom was clean but could do with a bit of fresh grout. Very impressed with the shower and water pressure. The walls are a bit thin and we did hear next door have a bit of a disagreement one morning. The door to the balcony was treble glazed and once it was shut any outside noise vanished. The view from my bed was Mount Teide (if it wasn't covered with cloud). Room 706 by the way.
The pool area was lovely. Lots of sunbeds and a bar where you could get drinks. The grounds were very well looked after with lots of flower beds, trees and a lovely fountain. There is also a covered area with comfy seats and sofas where you can go relax in the sun or shade. It has one of the lovely wooden balconies they are so famous for in Tenerife.
All in all a very pleasant stay and would certainly stay there again, but may take an airbed to save my poor aching back.
One other thing, we were there during Carnival, which was fabulous. The whole town parties on down for the week containing Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. So colourful and the atmosphere was superb - if you like to people watch, and have a great relaxing time, get yourself booked into this lovely hotel for Carnival week.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 706 on the 7th floor. Great view of the pool and Mount Teide. Got the sun for mo...

We visited this Hotel about 9 years ago and liked it then and we have not changed our mind, nothing too much trouble for the very friendly staff. Very good position on the sea front. We were on the seventh floor looking out to sea, yes the sea can sound very loud but what a fantastic view.
Being on the seventh floor, instead of the lifts, we used the stairs some of the time.
The food was very good and the breakfast selection was excellent.
Our beds were very comfortable and think this Hotel is very good value for money. We will definitely return to this Hotel.
