“Nice hotel-very friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014

Stayed for 2 weeks Sept/Oct 2013. Nice clean hotel. We asked for a quiet room not over the bar and on a high floor. They were very good and gave us exactly what we asked for. We had a partial sea view and a great view of Mount Tiede which was a bonus. The only problem was the cockerels in the ravine next to us. They started crowing really loudly anytime from 4am. This isn't the hotels fault there is nothing they can do about it but on hindsight we would ask for a room facing inward toward the pool. The bar doesn't stay open in to the early hours so it wouldn't keep you awake. Also be aware that there is no air-con. The hotel were very helpful though. We asked if there was a fan we could rent for the fortnight, but they provided a really good powerful one for free and it was in the room within half an hour. We couldn't fault the hotel itself. We had a hire car for the whole time we were there and it was a bonus that the hotel has parking-you have to pay for it but it was worth it as it's impossible to find a space otherwise. We didn't hang around the bar much as we prefer to go in to the resort when we stay anywhere but we did drink there twice. The prices were really reasonable.

Room Tip: If you want a good nights sleep don't get a room on the outside of the west block(mount tiede si...

Indeed our apartments do not have air conditioning but if they have a ceiling fan in each bedroom and of course we provide a fan if necessary.

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again to our apartments for your next holiday.

Casablanca has a quiet and undisturbed environment for all guests, because the entire pool, bar and recreation area is surrounded by Casablanca's buildings.
The whole area is characterized by quality, which is a consequence of the ongoing maintenance.
All rooms have a high standard with an alright cleaning, is well furnished and well maintained.
An big and cozy dining and bar area with good service.
All in all - a quality resort where guests really get value for money.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony with a view to the pool area is recomended

We returned a week ago from holidays at the Casablanca Apartments. Great accomodation, very clean, friendly and secure. The staff ist multilingual and helpful, we have gotten support to EVERY question we asked. The kitchen of our studio was extremely well equipped with juice maker, toaster, coffee maker, sandwich maker, kettle, microwave and oven/hob. For us was Casablance the perfect location for our hikking tours.

Room Tip: We had a studio on the west side which had everything to enjoy our stay.

Excellent apartments.
We stayed in a one bedroom unit which was well equipped, roomy and very clean.
Staff were always helpful and friendly.
Good supermarkets a few minutes walk away, and plenty of bars and places to eat nearby.
The pool was a bit small but that didn't spoil our stay in any way.
Would definitely return.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

SUMMARY
We have just returned from a great week at the Casablanca Apartments in Tenerife. We chose the Casablanca Apartments based purely on the reviews from Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. However, the apartments may not be for everyone and like with all things, tastes and holiday requirements are all very different.

THE LOCATION
The apartments are set up on the hillside above the main area of Puerto de la Cruz. In fact it is in a great location as it is in between both Puerto de la Cruz and La Paz. This may however not suit everyone as the walk up to and from the apartments from the main resort area and the sea front is either via a set of 125 steps or up a steep and windy road. This wasn’t an issue for us at all as we do a lot of walking but for those who are a little concerned, the steps are in stages so you can take your time, rest and admire the gorgeous views. After all, you’re on holiday and there’s no rush! Although we didn’t use them, there are loads of taxis around in case you want to take the less strenuous option. From other reviews, I believe these to be quite cheap too. To get to La Paz, you cross the road and go up some more steps (not as many) and up a gorgeous little avenue.
There is a Mercadona supermarket in the commercial centre at the bottom of the steps and a Hiperdino supermarket just a bit further along into town (literally another 3-5 minute walk). Both are large and you can get everything that you need. There is also a small supermarket next to the hotel but we didn’t use it. At the bottom of the steps there is also a bakery/café which sells fresh bread and pastries. There is a gym underneath the hotel (see later). The promenade and sea front is about a 3-5 minute walk from the bottom of the steps.

THE APARTMENTS
The apartment blocks are large and are set around a small pool area. They are well looked after and seemed to have been newly painted in white. The wooden windows and balustrades make for a lovely, pretty combination. There is a mix of timeshare, long and short term residents of all different nationalities (mainly German, Scandinavian and British).
We stayed in room 10104 which was a studio although it had a separate kitchen and bathroom. It was large and very clean. Block 10 is actually nearest to the bar area and our room was actually directly above it. I can see this being an issue with noise and entertainment in high season but for our stay, we had no issues. The balcony overlooked the pool area but was only slightly in the sun in the morning around 9.00am.
The room itself had everything that you could need including a TV (deposit of Eur20 for the remote control), dining table in/out and 2 sofa chairs. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with all the usual crockery as well as a toaster, coffee maker, sandwich maker, kettle, microwave and oven/hob. There was also dish wash liquid which was very useful. The beds were also super comfy.
The bathroom was fully tiled and although the colour (peach/beige) made it look quite dated, it was in excellent condition and very clean.
The cleaners were very thorough and even left us a load of extra coat hangers on day 1 which was much appreciated. They came in everyday apart from Thursday and Sunday and changed towels as we desired. I actually liked the fact that they didn’t change them automatically as some hotels change them even if you leave them hanging up….. I liked the fact that there was adherence to the environmental policy.

THE POOL
The apartments didn’t seem to be that full so we didn’t have a problem getting sun beds especially as we are early risers. We had plenty of choice at 9.30am in the morning although on the very sunny days, some people did struggle in the afternoon. I can imagine that in high season that there are big issues with getting a bed. There are signs around saying that beds cannot be reserved and we honestly didn’t see any of this. Again, I don’t know what it would be like when it is busier. The pool and pool area is only small and the design of the apartments means that the sun provides quite a bit of shade at certain times of the day. In general though, there was sun between 9am and 5pm although you’d have to move around the pool to get the full day’s sun.
Pool towels are also available for hire for a deposit.

THE BAR / RECEPTION
There is an inside and outside bar area where food is also served. We didn’t try it but plenty of people were having breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Our pick-up wasn’t until 15.25 and we had to check out by 12.00. This was well catered for as there are changing rooms with showers available in which allows you to make the most of the last day. You can also use a towel from reception. There is also a secure luggage room where you can leave your cases. This was another example of well thought-out customer service.

ACTIVITIES
There are 3 pool tables outside, Wi-Fi access (free in the bar area but Eur5 for one device per room per week although you can swap between devices). There is entertainment on each night. There is also a bowling green which seemed to be very popular. There’s also a large downstairs area with a library. Tennis courts from the hotel next door are available for hire (including rackets) at Eur12 per hour.

THE STAFF
We have stayed in some fabulous hotels over the years and we can honestly say that the staff at the Casablanca had one of the most friendliest and helpful of teams. EVERYONE at the Casablanca was extremely friendly and helpful. They were always very very pleasant, always said hello and were always very helpful.

OTHER
There is no gym in the apartments but there is a gym (called Casablanca) underneath the hotel. It was Euro 19 per week. Mario who is one of the guys that runs it is excellent – very very helpful and friendly. There is a good choice of machines, a free weights sections, spin bikes, cardio machines studio and there are loads of classes on.

THE RESORT
Puerto de la Cruz is a gorgeous resort and we loved meandering through the picturesque streets. There are loads of lovely bars and restaurants and the resort has a more “local than tourist” feel about it.
La Paz is a smaller resort but doesn’t have a sea front. There is a little street with shops, restaurants and bars although we didn’t try any.
We also walked along the coast to Bollullo Beach (from La Paz) which sadly was quite disappointing. It was a nice walk along the cliff edge and through the banana plantations. The beach is small and is approached from a set of steep sets. There is a café (Bar Carisa) at the bottom and although the views were lovely, the guy serving in the café was unhelpful and miserable.
Going the other way, we headed from Puerto de la Cruz down the sea front to Jardin Beach where we stopped off for a very pleasant coffee looking out towards the sea at La Muralla.
We still remain unconvinced on the black sandy beaches and they take a bit of getting used to.

OVERALL
We had a great time in Tenerife; we couldn’t fault the apartments not least for their cleanliness and super friendly and efficient staff. These two areas really cannot be faulted. The resort is lovely and we ate in some gorgeous restaurants.
Would we recommend them….. well, it depends on what you are looking for! The location isn’t for everyone (the steps) and the apartments and pool may get very crowded in the high season (there is a large lido area on the sea front so if you do want sun all day and are prepared to walk down the steps, this is the place to go). For us and for the time of year that we went, we would recommend them but we have to say that it’s worth thinking twice about staying there if you’re planning on going at a busier time, you want to sunbathe by the pool every day and walking is an issue. If these aren’t an issue, the location is great (between 2 lovely resorts with a great choice of bars and restaurants), the apartments are immaculate and you’ll be hard pressed to find a whole team as friendly and as welcoming as the team at Casablanca.

Room Tip: Avoid lower level, block 10 if you want peace and quiet as it is just above the bar area.
