We have stayed 11 times here but after the change of ownership in 2013 we wont be back. We could not believe the changes. They have ruined this beautiful hotel. The food is poor and the staff are overworked The old staff who are still there are fine but the new staff are unhelpful particularly the girls on reception. We were put in the most appalling room, despite the fact that it was our eleventh visit. All we could see from the balcony was a dark bush.It took the girls on reception 4 days to get us moved and all they kept saying was tomorrow. There used to be a caring family atmosphere where clients were treated with respect but no longer. They have changed the meal times which totally upskittled how we spend our evenings.

This is not a good hotel The young ladies on reception were pleasant, how ever the man who booked us in was not. The bedrooms are are very tired and dated with stained carpet on the floor and carpet part of the way up the walls! The dining room staff like the reception staff some were pleasant some were not. The choice of food was very limited and the choice of deserts was terrible. If you want to go on holiday and not have to worry about puting on any weight this is the place for you. There was no information given when we arrived, we were half board and usually the dining room staff take your room number get you to sign and your drinks are charged at the end of the week, not here you go to the dining room only to find you should have bought a ticket at the desk.

I stayed for eleven nights in mid January 2014. The hotel is fairly well appointed but the staff have been reduced to a minimum and are working very long hours and hence an ill tempered lot but if you make the effort to be polite and engage with them they are ok.
The hotel is about fifteen minutes walk from the town and adjacent to the Taoro Park. However the walk includes a climb of about 260 steps. The new management company ended the minibus service in the interests of economy along with various other services to the extent that people with money to spend we're unable to do so.
Fully inclusive guests are obliged to wear a wristband and are served their drinks in plastic cups. One lady was so annoyed that she bought her own glasses at the supermarket.
The hotel is cheap when it could just be inexpensive.
The buffet is canteen style in presentation and atmosphere. And cheap.
Having said all of this it represents good value for money and isn't a bad base for a holiday if you would like to enjoy the quiet locality and the company of lots of mainly German fellow guests.

Elegance Miramar Hotel
Where do you start,Reception the dress code of the majority of the staff here tells it's own story, jeans,Tee shirts,Smoking. Some of the staff on the reception are extremely unhelpful to the point of ignorance and arrogance.Mostly using the excuse that they do not understand English. The hotel has a virtual manager so unless you have a suitable pair of goggles forget trying to talk to him. They seem to find it enjoyable to make guests feel inferior. The rooms are quite good if a little dated and are cleaned every day.The cleaning,Dining room and Bar staff are mostly pleasant and efficient bearing in mind the pressure they are under from the new management. The restaurant is at busy times absolute chaos,1coffee machine was out of use for 6 days resulting in queues of over 20 people at times,on a regular basis no cups, saucers, plates, cereal bowls or soup bowls.Food has never been brilliant but was always adequate, but now could only rated has a 1star at most, there have been times where it has been I edible and always cold.Breakfast, roasted peppers Aubergines and carrots, fried eggs that that could be used as ice hockey pucks, tinned sausage.2 toasters 1takes 6 minutes the other 10 to toast a slice of bread, most of the food is cold within minutes of being put out overall very poor.If you are all inclusive you can not get a drink of any sort between 1pm+2.30pm as the pool bar is closed,no snacks or ice creams available at all,if you are all inclusive drinks are served in flimsy plastic glasses, hot drinks in polystyrene cups, even on all inclusive you have to buy bottled water.Heated pool no chance the water is freezing.Entertainment is on twice a week,1 night is an organist who plays and sings a few songs in Spanish, the other night is what only be described as a demented children's entertainer, who from 8.30 to 11pm plays a trumpet for around 10 minutes and the rest of the time stands behind an organ dancing and waving his arms to C.D's.The 1 redeeming feature is the views and surroundings they are stunning probably the best in Puerto, that appart this is now at stretch a 2 star hotel ,virtually everyone has said they would never visit again

Upon our arrival parts of the reception staff were smoking and continued to do so, while the rest of the receptionists worked as slowly as possible without being outright ridiculous. Their mastery of the English language turned out to be basic level at best, so after we got their attention communication was not easy, either. We were then informed that our room was in the tenth floor. Actually, the hotel doesn't have ten floors, it is Base, 5,6,7,8,9, and 10, but whatever. Unfortunately both elevators only go until the 9th floor and no help in getting our luggage upstairs was offered. Upon entering the room it was not yet finished, although it was past 5 pm and checkin-in begins at 4 pm. Our room had a splendid view, but unfortunately the door of the balcony didn't close. We were offered a subterrenean room instead, which we declined, and instead could convice the staff to give us free access to the room safe. (The only service we received in our stay) Another problem was, that the elevator was well heard in the room, and turned out to disturb our sleep. However, we found the quality of the beds to be okay. The food in the hotel was certainly not toxic, but also not something I would eat if any kind of restaurant within my reach by any means.

To sum this up: You get a splendid view and are generally in a good spot to explore Puerto de la Cruz, but don't expect any kind of service, and don't book any food except for breakfast.

Room Tip: Tenth floor rooms have a nice view, but you will have to use the stairs from 9th to 10th.

Just returned (Jan 2014) from a return trip to the Miramar. What a difference a year makes ! - new management (?) but unfortunately a deterioration. Surly staff; hire everything that moves (including a deposit on the remote control !). Even IF you do want to drink sub-standard wine (aimed at 'all inclusive' clients perhaps?) pool bar closed lunchtime and hotel bar closed pre-dinner (what !!). Long queues as only one (sub standard quality) hot drinks machine available at breakfast for 6/7 days of our stay. Food below par. On half-board we were treated like second class guests; even IF the staff did speak - which was rare, even for common courtesies. Desserts - banana fritters and jelly EVERYDAY !!! Won't be returning, though the views from the rooms are good; lawn; pool & pool toilets always clean and tidy.If you want entertainment and any kind of 'servoce' here, forget it, though lots to be found in resort.

I have stayed in hotels worldwide and would return to this hotel again, and again.
All I can say is the staff are helpful, the food is good, not excellent, but it is only a three star with three star prices.
The views are fantastic, All areas,, including bedrooms, are kept very clean.
There is no bus into town but the staff at reception will phone a taxi for you.and it is only a ten minute walk down the hill to the town.
I have already booked for a spring break here and will continue to come.
