The hotel is good BUT there are a lot of old Germans and they don’t like children. I do not think there is much to do here all at all. The Hotels entertainment is in Spanish and German only and most of the staff do not speak English. As for Thomson they dump you here with only a phone number that dose not work, so dont think about booking any excursions.

Just arrived back from this lovely hotel, and felt compelled to write and tell you just how fantastic it was!

From the friendliness of the staff to the clean and resfull rooms, the location was just perfect, the food amazing, the bar staff - exceptional in every way!

This gem of a hotel is at the far end of the La Paz district of Puerto Cruz, with views to Teide and over the sea across the banana plantations - for location you couldnt go wrong.

I was lucky to persevere with booking this hotel as it only seemed to be available through limited agents, but maybe thats what made it special.

If you want a quiet, restfull holiday this is the one for you.

The only thing that may deter some people is the fact that it is on the outer edge of Puerto, but great excercise for th thighs if you make the walk to the town every day! About 1/2 hrs walk.

I loved it and I will go back.

If you go - dont miss Happy Hour in the bar - the drinks are great, and the staff even better.

Lastly, the hotel entertainer Sergio was brilliant too, funny, talanted and a good range of music and comedy!

Took our 2 teenage daughters and husband for 6 night quick break before the winter nights set in in Aberdeen - very good choice for us, perhaps a bit dull for 2 active teenagers on the night-life front only, but they enjoyed the facilities and food and pool. Hotel rate arranged over e-mail, and had to be 1/2 board.
Ditto the comments (in last few recent reviews) about the hotel, staff, spaciousness of hotel grounds, cleanliness of bedrooms/pools/gym. Very comprehensive guide to hotel and facilities in bedrooms - read it.
Buffet meals were of excellent quality and variety and we had no desire to eat out except once when we went to the Casa de Miranda in La Paz - well worth going to.
Lovely gardens and no ghetto blasters to take away the tranquility.
Our rooms were 132 and 134, not noisy at all despite overlooking the scrub ground and the church, whose bells do not start until 9am (monday to friday) and the occasional peal on 7pm on some days.
Complementary fruit baskets and wine in both rooms (teenagers included!) on arrival.
Hotel will arrange for cold breakfast if departure is before normal breakfast service starts.
Shuttle bus to Puerto very handy but does finish a little early, last journey back 5.45pm, but there are taxis if needed.
Parking, if you have a hire car, can be hit or miss in the local streets and the scary underground garage (for very small cars only) is 8 euros per day.
Useful library of books on 2nd floor if you are a quick reader.
North Airport - this does NOT open until 6am! so we had a cold 40 minute wait on Saturday morning in October - the summer hours may be different, but it is worth checking especially if you have small and tired children to travel with and an early flight out.
Would go back again - but not with teenagers. Lovely to find hotel that was not cheek by jowl as are the towerblocks styles are in the centre of Puerto, and has some character.

What can I say! Our first visit was in 2005 and we have just returned from our third.
From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed, welcomed and wanted!
Yes there are a high percentage of german guests, but there are quite a lot of spanish too.
The staff are friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble.
If you are looking for a busy, noisy holiday with sparkling night life, dont go there!
But if you are like us a busy couple of over 50's and want a relaxing holiday where the biggest decision you have to make is wether to have red or white with dinner, give it a try!

I stayed a the hotel for two weeks, booked with Thomson holidays UK. On the whole the hotel was close to excellent but I will go into more detail about different areas below.

Food
====

The food at the hotel was one of the selling points for the hotel. It was consistently excellent throughout my stay. The food choices at the resort were poor in my opinion so I was glad to be half-board. The buffet-style allowed me to eat healthy or not so healthy if I wanted. The evening had key areas - salads you made yourself, pre-made pasta type salads, vegetarian, pizza, fish, meat, dishes, roast + gravy, fruit, dessserts, bread, cheese. Breakfast was divided into cooked 'English breakfast', pancakes, hams, cheeses, croissants etc., fruit; smoothies/juices (freshly made).

Occasionally I found some of the food too salty but that is probably my taste. The service was pretty good, though sometimes you had to wait a while for your drink order to be taken which didn't really bother me. Choice of drinks not extensive. Only the local beer Cruzcampo and 'not mineral' water available.

Breakfast was very busy after about 9am so I tended to go about 8.15am.

Rooms
======

Fairly spacious rooms. Cleaned every day well. One of the biggest problems I had with the hotel was in this area though, My room was above the lobby bar (rooms 300-312). This meant it was very noisey from about 9pm to midnight. Normally this would not be a problem but my calves were tight from the walk into town so I stayed in a few nights. If you plan to go to bed at 10pm choose a different room! I did not ask to change as the hotel was fully booked but it only annoyed me a few times. Safe 2 euros a day. Mini-bar 7 euros deposit. Prices in mini-bar and for phone calls actually cheap which was surprising. Used mini-bar to put own water in as well and they didn't seem to mind. Bad points to the room - only really the noise;air-conditioning a little loud and only comes on when you put the room key in so room could get a warm if you were out all day; choice of English TV poor - only BBC World, CNN (out of tune) and True Movies (which was switched off randomly so you couldn't really watch a film).

Pool
====

Surprisingly quiet throughout the stay. Easy to find lounger and shade though wished pool was open after 8pm. Not too much seat reserving as you get given a towel by the hotel and have to return it by the end of your stay. Poolside bar is seperate area and food is all homemade so delicious. Salad bar 5 euros for one plate; other meals 6-13 euros. Could have done with more lunchtime choices in my opinion.

Location
=======

I knew it was out of town when I booked though the walk a pretty steep one. Never walked back though some people did. Not suitable for prams/disabled as ramps were too steep. Hotel bus came in handy and even got driver to say hello by the end! The bus leaves roughly on time. Get their early at popular times as it is only a small minibus and you may not get on. Taxis more expensive than Gran Canaria. About 4,50 euros to hotel and drivers not exactly consistent with fare. When I got the hotel to book it at night it was cheaper than in the day by about 1,50 euro.
Small shop by hotel opened 9am-2pm then 4pm-9pm weekdays when we were there though did not always open and a notice said only open in the morning later in the month. Biggish supermarket (though hot and scruffy) in la paz about 5 mins away and Spar about 10 mins. In all about 3 supermarkets in walking distance.

Tour Operator
===========

I am not that bothered about tour operator services however if you are someone who is Thomson have changed someat since I went on holiday when I was younger. There is NO REP at this hotel. Instead you get given a phone number you can ring. I wanted to book a Teide trip but didn't want to use hotel phone and the website didn't let you book from this part of the island so had to use an independent firm. The German TUI rep booked this for us. She was very helpful. Fllght delayed 6 hours on the way. Early on way back. Used taxi service instead of coach which was good as Thomson's coach was a minibus and it was 35 mins late on the way back as it forgot some hotels or something!

Other
====

Internet quite expensive - 1 euro for 10 mins. Almost all staff very helpful and it is them plus management keeping them on their toes that make the hotel so great. It is probably the most well-run hotel I have ever stayed at. Design of hotel meant not many rooms would be quiet enough for my liking - you either have to be above the lobby bar or the restaurant. If you are lucky you will get neither of these.
