Gran Hotel Turquesa Playa
Ranked #23 of 82 Hotels in Puerto de la Cruz

The hotel was excellent value for money - we stayed half-board. It was very clean, and we found the staff pleasant, helpful and hardworking. The (buffet) meals were copious, with a good selection, and the quality reasonable.

The room was somewhat dated, but quite adequate. We had a large balcony overlooking the pool, but didn't suffer any noise. The pool was a bit chilly - but it WAS December!

We didn't use many of the hotel facilities as we are hikers, and headed out every morning. This hotel is particularly good for this, as it is only a few minutes (flat) walk to the bus station, from whence you can catch a bus to virtually anywhere in Tenerife - including both airports, if you want to avoid expensive transfers.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool is quiet, and has better balconies than the exterior.

This is by far the worst hotel ever. Need I say more!!!!
My husband and I stayed here for 1 week, home today, YIPPEE....
Its a 2 star hotel, possibly.
The pool was freezing and the indoor pool was locked most of the time, open for an hour at 7am, but never at a time when you might like it, eg: when the sun goes down at 5pm.
The food was the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner, RECYCLED. Yeach.
The pillows are awful, more like a pillowcase covering fleece. Pure FLAT.
Very hard to sleep in this hotel, all the floors are tiled, so if somebody pushes a chair, trolley, bed, suitcase, door etc, you hear it in your room. So kiss goodbye to sleep from 5am onwards.
We asked for a double and got twin beds. Not great for a romantic holiday!!!.
The hotel is huge. You get the feeling they want your money but not you.
I wouldnt go back in a million years.
The only good thing about this hotel is its clean, the cleaning staff are fantastic.
I didnt find the reception staff helpful. Anything you pay for they give you, whats so great about that? If you dont pay and in advance, you will not receive.
I asked reception to book a table in a restaurant for me, they said 'no', I asked why, she said 'you are booked in to eat here'. You really wouldnt eat there more than 2 nights. I asked them to order a taxi once and they forgot!!
The Pool bar was closed in high season, why??
Only 1 restaurant open, again, why advertise more that they than 1 restaurant????
Would I go back? Not in a million years. I like to be looked after on my holidays, is that too much to expect??

Stayed here for 5 days on a quick winter break. Reception staff were first class and the breakfast/ restaurant quality were brilliant with a great variety.
The beds were dreadful and needed replacing. Had to use the mattress from the sofa to be able to get any sleep.
Great location with the bus station and the centre of the town close by.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment room instead.

We travelled on an all inclusive package - 7 nights from the UK and got it very cheap. It our first 'all inclusive' type holiday so we don't really know what to expect or to compare it to, all up we were happy though.

Location: The hotel is on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz, about 15-20min walk from the centre of town. This is a good thing as its away from the hustle and bustle, and there is also plenty of free car parking on the streets or overflow carparks around (do this rather than paying €18 a night for parking). It is walking distance from Loro Parque, Playa Jardin and Playa Punta Brava (a really nice beach if you like soft sand and waves). Puerto is nice, it is still a tourist town but it has character and isn't full of 'Proper British Pub Grub' type places.

Facillities: There are 3 or 4 swimming pools, gym, bar, games area, squash court. There is even a nightclub which was pretty sad - 3 people in there on Saturday night at 11pm. We only went down to take a look of course...! Its all OK but a little dated. The bar was quiet on most nights and didn't really have any atmosphere.

Rooms: The room was quite large and had everything we needed. Small and rather useless TV was the only drawback. Nice balcony with a good view. Maid service was excellent. Beds weren't super comfortable.

All Inclusive: As others have mentioned, the food was actually quite good, they have a good range at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we ate there most nights, only venturing out for one dinner at Casa Regulo (excellent and well worth it!). Given the money we paid this was excellent and we saved a lot by not eating out all the time. The all inclusive bar is the standard 'local drinks only', but there was quite a range and they give you decent serving sizes on the spirits. Drinks are cheap: €2-3 for most drinks, so look at the price for all inclusive vs full board and decide if its better value to just pay for the drinks instead.

Clientele: Mainly German and Spanish tourists, there were not many English speakers here. This was OK and its a good choice if you want to avoid 'Little Britain' in the South. Around 20% young families, 10% families with teenagers, 10% young couples, maybe 30% older couples/groups and 30% retirees. As its also a bit out of town its NOT the place to go if you want to meet people and party!

Service: The staff were generally friendly and helpful, a few difficulties with language but that helped force us to learn a little Spanish.

My boyfriend and i had a weeks holiday here from 22/09/11 and picked the hotel because of good reviews and the choice at hotel.
The hotel is in the north of the island behind the mountain so it takes a little which for the sun to come up in the mornings (we had rain and cloud fr the first 3 days tho)
there is only 1 restaraunt, not the choice of 3 which was very dissapointing, there is the pool bar in the day and an inside one all day and an evening sports bar that closes at 10 which was nice too. The food was gorgeous but dissapointing that only 1 place to eat when more was advertised. There is not a ice cream bar open either.
hotel rooms were cleaned daily and gorgeous, and the hotel was lovely, no complaints about that. all staff were really nice and even arranged a birthday cake and fizz for my boyfriends birthday.
the only other dissapointing thing was we were the only english people in the hotel and probably the only people under 40, which wasnt a problem, but there was no entertainment!! the only entertainment we had was 3 men singing and we had them twice in the week we were there. the entertainment lady walked around all day speaking to spanish people but avoided us like the plague. this was a shame as i would have liked to do some activities in the day/evenings.
Overall it was nice but i wouldnt return unless in a group or when i have retired!

Room Tip: we had a pool room no 418 which was lovely

We spend 10 days 12-22 of August ,with two children , we enjoyed are time , hotel nice and clean . We stayed in 1 bedroom apartment all incl, which was cleaned every day , food were good , friendly staff , kids enjoyed children's entertainment and spend all day by the little pool which was quiet most of the time and plenty sun bed available all the time. Good location , close to LORO PARQU (walking distance) and close to restaurant's , and city centre , strongly recommend very good for it's value.

This was definately a good value hotel. I stayed here with my husband and we had an All Inclusive board basis which offered very varied dishes on a daily basis. The staff were always very helpful and polite.
The rooms were quite basic but comfortable. The hotel very clean and within about 15 mins walk to the town centre.
Fantastic relaxing holiday. Would recommend for both families and couples though we stayed at the end of the season so probably less children around.
