“The worst holiday ever - don't go there with your family !!!!”
Reviewed 26 January 2012

We've booked the hotel as it looked it has nice children facilities. We went there December-January 2012 and we were prepared that we will use inside pool, as the outside ones are not heated. We also wanted Kids Club for our 3.5 years old son.
The food was nice and the hotel staff was nice, especially at the restaurant. The room was nice, specioaus and clean, but ....
The hotel had children facilities, soft play and playground, but it was only us and maybe 2-3 more families with children. The rest were people over 60. The Kids Club was only 2 days a week, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Beacuse we arrived on Thursday afternoon and left Thursday morning, it was only 1 day for us. We stayed with our son, as he was under 4 and saw how this Kids Club looks like. It was one girl. Completely not prepared. She was late. When she came, there 2 other children. She gave them some colouring papers and left them unattended and went to get some chairs!!! Surely she shoudl preper that before. She left the children unlocked, close to the swimming pools, on the indoor playground with high climbing frame, where everyone has an access. The animation team, we saw there, was actually only one person!!! The eveing entertaiment was poor.
The indoor pool was only open for hotel guests only at certain time during a day. You need to wear swim hats, which looks to me as the owners (it's a separate compeny from the hotel) are too lazy to change the water often enough. The staff of the pool is very rude!!!
3 days before our leaving, there were a lots of woggles and everyone was using them. Day after (2 days before our leaving), there was only one and 1 lady was using it. We asked her, where did she get it from and she told us, there is a room and she said we can get it from there. Door where open and no information there was a private area, so my husband went there to get one woggle for our 3 years old son. When the lady from the reception of the pool saw that, she started to run to my husband and she was shouting. Instead of saying, sorry you are not allowed, it's priavte she was shouting and she was agressive, trying to take away a wobble from my husband by force. My husband gave it back, but we refused to wear swim hats, until the lady apologise to us (apparently it was the owner';s wife - feel sorry for him). They called the owner and he instead of showing some class and try to resolve the problem, started to insult my husband!!!! He called him a clown and big man with small brain!!!! He was also suggesting my husband was on drugs or he was drunk!!!! And all he wanted was an apology for a rude behaviour of the pool staff. The owner of the pool tried to scare us, that we will be kicked out of the hotel with 7 months old baby !!!! At the end, my hsuband just left the pool, becuse there was noone to have a proper discussion, we didn't get an apology and we were told, we are not allowed to use an indoor pool anymore. The manager of the hotel said, he will talk to the pool staff, but we didn't get any apology at all. Very dissapointng for a 4 star hotel!!!! If I were the hotel manager, I would think twice if I want to work with people like that, beacuse if the owner of the pool has no class (and runnig fitness, he is not fit at all), treats hotel guests very badly, it gives bad experience for the whole hotel!!!! And to be honest we should get a refund for the time we weren't able to use an idoor pool, as we paid for it !!!!!! Don't go there, if you want your children to avoid dissapoinment. Our son thought it was the worse holiday ever. We think, it was a waste of money!!!!

We booked here for 7 days for New Year's eve and were completely satisfied. What is the most important asset of this hotel are its employees. They are very friendly, helpful and even smiling. Somehow i don't agree with the last reviewer, concerning the "very well speaking of English" of the staff, because on most occasions i had to try to explain in little Spanish that i know and also gesticulate. Who knows, maybe i didn't meet the English speaking ones. Otherwise good food: quality and variety; very clean; very good location:close to the black sand beach (3min walk), central bus station (5min), town center (10-15min) - by the way Puerto is an absolutely astonishing town which stole our heart. Rooms not up to the general good image of the hotel, but still very good and not missing anything (except a softer bed maybe). We received an ocean view room without asking! Overall great hotel, which i would definately recommend and would hopefully return.

We had a great time staying at this hotel in September 2011. The room was beautiful, we received a room with see-view without booking it. The staff was very helpful and friendly speaking both English and German very well.
The food was excellent, great choice, loved the Pistachio ice cream and hot prunes as a desert and had it almost every evening. Prunes came in handy as we ate too much white bread.
The location is good, only a few minutes from the beach and great public transport links to the rest of the island.
We dont understand why people complain about too many Germans. Does this mean you go on holidays to interact with other hotel guests?

The hotel was excellent value for money - we stayed half-board. It was very clean, and we found the staff pleasant, helpful and hardworking. The (buffet) meals were copious, with a good selection, and the quality reasonable.

The room was somewhat dated, but quite adequate. We had a large balcony overlooking the pool, but didn't suffer any noise. The pool was a bit chilly - but it WAS December!

We didn't use many of the hotel facilities as we are hikers, and headed out every morning. This hotel is particularly good for this, as it is only a few minutes (flat) walk to the bus station, from whence you can catch a bus to virtually anywhere in Tenerife - including both airports, if you want to avoid expensive transfers.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool is quiet, and has better balconies than the exterior.

This is by far the worst hotel ever. Need I say more!!!!
My husband and I stayed here for 1 week, home today, YIPPEE....
Its a 2 star hotel, possibly.
The pool was freezing and the indoor pool was locked most of the time, open for an hour at 7am, but never at a time when you might like it, eg: when the sun goes down at 5pm.
The food was the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner, RECYCLED. Yeach.
The pillows are awful, more like a pillowcase covering fleece. Pure FLAT.
Very hard to sleep in this hotel, all the floors are tiled, so if somebody pushes a chair, trolley, bed, suitcase, door etc, you hear it in your room. So kiss goodbye to sleep from 5am onwards.
We asked for a double and got twin beds. Not great for a romantic holiday!!!.
The hotel is huge. You get the feeling they want your money but not you.
I wouldnt go back in a million years.
The only good thing about this hotel is its clean, the cleaning staff are fantastic.
I didnt find the reception staff helpful. Anything you pay for they give you, whats so great about that? If you dont pay and in advance, you will not receive.
I asked reception to book a table in a restaurant for me, they said 'no', I asked why, she said 'you are booked in to eat here'. You really wouldnt eat there more than 2 nights. I asked them to order a taxi once and they forgot!!
The Pool bar was closed in high season, why??
Only 1 restaurant open, again, why advertise more that they than 1 restaurant????
Would I go back? Not in a million years. I like to be looked after on my holidays, is that too much to expect??

Stayed here for 5 days on a quick winter break. Reception staff were first class and the breakfast/ restaurant quality were brilliant with a great variety.
The beds were dreadful and needed replacing. Had to use the mattress from the sofa to be able to get any sleep.
Great location with the bus station and the centre of the town close by.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment room instead.

We travelled on an all inclusive package - 7 nights from the UK and got it very cheap. It our first 'all inclusive' type holiday so we don't really know what to expect or to compare it to, all up we were happy though.

Location: The hotel is on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz, about 15-20min walk from the centre of town. This is a good thing as its away from the hustle and bustle, and there is also plenty of free car parking on the streets or overflow carparks around (do this rather than paying €18 a night for parking). It is walking distance from Loro Parque, Playa Jardin and Playa Punta Brava (a really nice beach if you like soft sand and waves). Puerto is nice, it is still a tourist town but it has character and isn't full of 'Proper British Pub Grub' type places.

Facillities: There are 3 or 4 swimming pools, gym, bar, games area, squash court. There is even a nightclub which was pretty sad - 3 people in there on Saturday night at 11pm. We only went down to take a look of course...! Its all OK but a little dated. The bar was quiet on most nights and didn't really have any atmosphere.

Rooms: The room was quite large and had everything we needed. Small and rather useless TV was the only drawback. Nice balcony with a good view. Maid service was excellent. Beds weren't super comfortable.

All Inclusive: As others have mentioned, the food was actually quite good, they have a good range at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we ate there most nights, only venturing out for one dinner at Casa Regulo (excellent and well worth it!). Given the money we paid this was excellent and we saved a lot by not eating out all the time. The all inclusive bar is the standard 'local drinks only', but there was quite a range and they give you decent serving sizes on the spirits. Drinks are cheap: €2-3 for most drinks, so look at the price for all inclusive vs full board and decide if its better value to just pay for the drinks instead.

Clientele: Mainly German and Spanish tourists, there were not many English speakers here. This was OK and its a good choice if you want to avoid 'Little Britain' in the South. Around 20% young families, 10% families with teenagers, 10% young couples, maybe 30% older couples/groups and 30% retirees. As its also a bit out of town its NOT the place to go if you want to meet people and party!

Service: The staff were generally friendly and helpful, a few difficulties with language but that helped force us to learn a little Spanish.
