This was my second stay at Las Aguilas and although we loved the hotel last time and this was the reason for our return, I don't think we will return again. When we arrived the receptionist offered us a different room when he saw that I was there with my daughter to a room with twin beds and not a kingsize bed. I asked if the room would be ready and he said it was. We went to the room and on first inspection it looked very clean, and as I already knew was spacious with stunning views and a lovely jacuzzi corner bath. At the end of the day I looked forward to a nice bath only to find 'hairs' and toe nail clippings in the bathroom. I was not impressed I have to say. I cleaned the bath myself with what I could. We were deciding on whether to stay an extra night, but that made the decision for us! That and the fact that the beds were cold with only one blanket and when we asked for another blanket they were very surprised!!! At this time of year a duvet would be better!

I am sure our experience was a one off and the hotel in general is a lovely hotel. Just a shame for us as we live in the south of Tenerife and love staying in Puerto for a weekend.

Room Tip: Higher up you are the better the views

stayed at the Aguilas for a week over xmas. The views are brill, food was good with a lot on offer. Hot meals sometimes were warm but there was a microwave if you wanted to heat it,
the hotel is set on top of a hill with views all around to savour.
The room we had was huge with sitting area with settee and a chair , TV anmd coffee table, also in the room was a full table and chairs , fridge and cooker. another room was a huge bathroom with whirl pool bath. then you had a huge bedroom. All in all we would go back here , it was a taxi into town ( 6 euros ) ot there was a free hotel bus back and to at set times.

Room Tip: you either face mount Tedie or over look the town. both views are stunning.

Situated on a hill overlooking Puerto de la Cruz, the Orotava Vally and Mount Teide this hotel could not be situated in a better place for peace tranquility and views to die for! From checking in at reception, to the staff in the restaurant and bar and every member I came across you could not have wished to meet nicer more pleasant people! The food in the restaurant was of a very good standard with a good choice and the evening entertainment was also of a good standard. The rooms were very spacious, very clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable. On the whole there is nothing at all that you could fault with the hotel and would not hesitatge to return!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms do not get the sun in the winter so although the views are amazing you are not necess...

I booked this hotel though 'On the Beach' (and would fully recommend using them too!) having read reviews on tripadvisor. Accomodation was clean, very spacious and comfortable. I booked half board but on arrival could have upgraded to inclusive for 15 euros per day (worthwhile if you plan to spend time in the bar in the evening, even if only having a couple of drinks!). I like my food so was a bit concerned by some of the comments on the reviews I'd read but I thought the food was of very good quality and variety for the size of the hotel and the number of people being catered for. This was my first experience of holidaying as a lone traveller and I found the hotel staff to be very friendly, attentative, efficient and provided services to an excellent standard. View from my room was Orotova valley and mountains down to the sea (bit of everything) and fab both by day and night. I like walking and felt safe using the path from the hotel down into the town (the hotel receptionist said it takes about an hour but I did it in 30 minutes downhill and 40 minutes on the uphill return!). Overall a very good experience.

This hotel is huge. The rooms are very big - they have a double bedroom, a lounge/kitchen area and a luxurious bathroom. We were there with a group of students on a field trip. The hotel was very accommodating. Food was excellent (except the packed lunches we requested) - plenty of choice with a full buffet breakfast and dinner. Only drawback was that drinks (not even tap water) were included. Location is great - away from the super touristy town of Tenerife. Plenty to do in Puerto de la Cruz. Not far to drive up to the volcano summit either. We will certainly look to staying here again.

We stayed in the hotel in November 2012, a family with two very young children on an all-inclusive deal.

Bar
There are 2 bars available for you to use – generally during the day there is a terrace bar, and in the evening a second bar. The service is generally friendly, and the quality of the drinks is generally very good. The beer is Amstel, and while the spirits are not generally brands you would know, they are full-strength, good quality and good measures, if you are not on all inclusive, you can buy ‘better’ brands. This is not the sort of all inclusive where you can drink all day and not feel the alcohol.

All inclusive.
The hotel has a mix of guests, and most probably are on B&B or half board. They certainly seemed to get slightly more attentive service than the AI guests, but not hugely. As an AI guest you help yourself to drinks in the restaurant, while others are served, but it’s no hardship. The snacks during the day are a bit dodgy – although the lunch in the restaurant is good. You can upgrade your stay for EU20 from B&B, EU15 from half board (Per person per day) for a minimum of 3 days.

Rooms
The rooms are spacious and clean, in good repair. There is a TV – with 3 English news channels (Sky News, BBC world news and CNBC), but the rest are in Spanish or German (Why they can’t just have one news program and 2 general programs, I don’t know). There are two wings to the hotel. One side of one wing overlooks a busy motorway and retail centre, with an occasional disco going till 4am. These seem to be the standard rooms. If you pay for a mountain view you get the other side of this wing, which doesn’t overlook the motorway, but looks towards a hillside with houses on it. Sea view looks out over the town and the sea – the nicest side.
The rooms have a small kitchen area, but there are no facilities such as pots and pans, and no tea making facilities, although as we have a baby we asked for, and got, a kettle. They have a good sized fridge.
The bathroom have Jacuzzi baths, which are good, if slow to fill, but the shower over the bath is not fantastic.

WiFi
There are computers in reception EU1 for 15 mins, or for EU2 an hour (That’s total use time, so you can just use a few minutes each time) you can access the WiFi, however the signal seems to only work in reception. There are longer packages available.

Food
Meals are all buffet service. The food is plentiful and there is a good choice. There are the usual odd combinations and ‘different’ food (Anything that looks like a hash brown at breakfast will probably taste of fish!) but overall it’s good. I would comment that by the end of a week you will probably want to try somewhere else for variety, but there is a different selection every day.
Entertainment
Each evening there is a show, which varies from poor to good, but generally is fine. The bar was not that busy during our stay, with many people going early to bed, but there was still a good atmosphere.
The ‘Animation’ team seems very low key. There are some activities throughout the day, but there didn’t seem a big take-up of activities. I’m not sure there was a children’s club (It was November, but the hotel was apparently full), but our children are too young for this, so there may have been something on offer.

Swimming Pools
There is a free-form pool at the front of the hotel, that is apparently heated – apparently.. It doesn’t seem to get a lot of sun, and the sun loungers are often shaded. There is a second pool some way away, accessed by steps, which seems to get the sun most of the day.
The kids pool is set in a sand pit, and is a small pool 45cm deep, and very cold. For our daughter it was too deep to be a paddling pool, and too cold to swim in. There are some slides and ‘springers’ around the pool.
Both the second pool and the kids pool are a fair way from the terrace bar.

Location
The hotel is situated on a hill over the town. It is a good location in some ways – being a bit higher it is cooler than the town, and there are some good views, but it is a long way to any attractions. There is a shuttle bus, than runs during the day (Not after 6pm), but I would suggest a car is the best idea – and we found hiring one was cheaper for a week than a transfer. Driving is easy in Tenerife, although the hotel can be a bit tricky to get to (Our Tom Tom with Europe maps was a godsend)

Reception
The reception team are OK. Their English is passable, but sometimes if you have more than one questioned they disappear after answering one question – a bit odd!

Cultural Mix
When we were here, the guests were mainly Spanish & German, with a few other nationalities. There were not many Brits, which in itself isn’t a big issue, but English was less well spoken by the staff than you may find in other resorts.

Overview
The hotel is a good quality hotel in a nice resort. It is not central to the town, but does have a daytime shuttle bus and reasonable car parking. You will enjoy your stay, in this clean, spacious hotel.
