“Excellent again”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

Owning a small 5 star hotel in the UK we would not make a return visit had the first last year had it not been excellent
The management team at this hotel excels all expectations with its attention to detail and excellent staff training.
I cannot imagine how anyone can comment that the staff are unfriendly or favour paying guests - a load of rubbish !
The standard of cleanliness in the rooms and around the hotel is extremely high and the grounds and the pool area are of the standard of any top 5 star hotel - in fact better than some !
Food is still good and a varied choice- if anything is not there all one has to do is ask and it happens !
Hopefully the Group that owns the hotel will read the other reviews on this site and allow the Director and senior management the finances they need to improve the Wi-Fi and new sunbeds etc

This was our first trip to Tenerife - we took it as part of a two location holiday (after 4 days in Iceland!) - we did not want the night life which continues in the town for those that want it! We wanted peace, warm sun, friendly & helpful staff, magnificent views, all inclusive, bit of comfort, a swim if wanted - bit cold but great once in & as a result never crowded! - always able to get a good sun bed or chair with a view ( at the time of our holiday early/ mid October) - on the hotter days 'look down' on the local pair of Kestrels hovering & swooping as they hunt! The room was a bit spartan and we should have asked for a kettle as no tea / coffee in the room to start with. we needed another pillow each and it was supplied immediately. The staff were all very friendly & hard working - keen to please and responding to good manners & politeness in kind - as ever. We only went on one trip to Tiede which was amazing. We used the hotel bus a few times & it was always on time. A lot of people had cars and they were clearly useful for those that wanted to travel more. We arrived late at night & a salad was waiting for us - nothing was too much trouble. Generally the food was very good - great salads, plentiful & reasonable choices day to day - as good as / better than other all inclusives we have done The Hotel decor is dark / terracotta / in cool spanish style and once you get used to this the whole place was great. a couple of niggles with a slipping showerhead which I fixed with a small cable tie (doesn't everyone carry a couple of cable ties for emergencies when travelling?!) - all in all a great holiday and it did for us exactly what we wanted as above. Ps. €15 euro deposit for a towell was ok & it was refreshed on request. money back when we left. Wi/Fi - €5 Euros for 24 hours was fine for us with Ipad use - you only use the time when switched on so we had two or three hours a day every day for our €5 Euro and didn't use it all!

Room Tip: We were second floor with a mountain view which suited us well - but we were not in the room for lon...

I have recently returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel - my 3rd visit. My husband is from Puerto de la Cruz, so we are not exactly typical tourist visitors to the area. The hilltop location suits us, as we prefer not to be in the middle of town. The positives are that it is quieter & more peaceful, plus the panoramic views are stunning. On the other hand, if you don't have a car and are at the mercy of the hotel courtesy bus then it would be restrictive. The other bonus with the location is the sheer space the hotel has, both in terms of the grounds and the rooms.

Unfortunately the rooms themselves, whilst more like apartments, are in serious need of refurbishment and/or repairs. We asked for, and were given, a ground floor room - thanks are due to the reception staff for that. We loved the position of it, but sadly there were several problems with plumbing issues and also an off-putting musty smell in the room. The rooms also look somewhat tired and neglected, dated even. The first time we visited here was over 7 years ago and nothing seems to have been updated in the intervening years.

I commented in my previous review about unfriendly staff and lack of interaction. Thankfully this time around the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Special mention to Ede & Cesar in the restaurant, as well as chef Rodolfo whose cauliflower is to die for! In the bar, thanks go to Carlos & Gerardo for fast friendly service.

Sadly, another aspect with which I found fault last time still hasn't improved, namely the food. To make matters worse, for the first 10 days or so of our stay there was no microwave oven to heat up the lukewarm offerings from the so-called hot buffet. Thankfully one did eventually appear - better late than never! Yet again there seemed to have been no thought or planning involved with the menus. Whilst there was nearly always a selection of fish available, there were rarely any potatoes to accompany the fish. Funnily enough I don't actually want to eat french fries with everything! There seemed to be huge amounts of waste with the food at mealtimes, and I feel the lack of complementing dishes is part of the reason. Another gripe is no decent coffee at breakfast. There are only machines which produce something so awful I decided not to bother most days. Surely the hotel could manage to provide decent fresh coffee in the mornings?t On the plus side, there were occasional themed nights at dinner, and we particularly enjoyed the Canarias nights.

The evening entertainment isn't great either, but this is not really a priority for us.

Overall, this hotel still remains a favourite with us as it suits our purposes and, for now at least, its pros outweigh its cons. I do feel though that some investment in the infrastructure and better planning of meals (plus figuring out how to keep them decently hot!) would improve it massively. It has the potential, with its location, space and impressive public areas, to be so much better than it actually is. We will be back, I am sure, and live in hope that investments will be made.

Room Tip: We paid a supplement this time for a poolside room and feel it was worth the extra. Be aware if you...

This hotel is just fantastic!!! Visited between 4th to 11th September

> Food - plenty of hot and cold choice, tasty and loads of room to sit, never had a problem findind a seat. Soft drinks, beer, wine, water, various coffee and tea available. 9/10

> Staff - no problems speaking English, very freindly and always polite. 8/10

> Room - had a sea view which I'd say was the better choice rather than looking at motorway as Mt Teide was 90% of the time covered with cloud. Very spacious with a seperate bedroom and a large balcony. Bathroom spacious with a jacuzzi bath. Air conditioning in both the bedroom and living room, and actually blows out great cold air. Also a ceiling fan in the bedroom which is a added bonus. Cleaned everyday to a very good standard. 9/10

> Outside area/Pool - Two main pools, though one is a few minutes walk from the main hotel, also a childrens pool. Views are great from any of the pool areas, plenty of beds and never had a problem locating one. Main part of the day there is a life guard. Snack bar is very nice with a range of hot and cold food during the day. Soft drinks, beer, wine, water, various coffee and tea available. 8/10

> Location - would recommend a car so you can get about, the hotel is also on top of a hill. There is a free bus that runs four or five times a days between the hotel and Peurto Del La Cruz. Would recommend a trip up to the summit of Mt Teide, the views are literally breath taking. 8/10

> Weather - not seen this mentioned much in other reviews. Out of the seven days we only had maybe three half days of sun, the mountain tends to attract the cloud which sticks around. If you want guaranteed sun go to the south of the island. 4/10

Overall rating 7/10 and this is marked down purley on the weather and not the hotel.

Well now reading more reviews going back a few pages and I can see where I slipped up with this so called 4 star Hotel. Freezing cold pools even on the hotest days and you never see anyone in them also no pool towels unless you pay 15 euros deposit. I love being by the pool on all my Holidays but at this place was there for 10 minutes the whole time I was there. WIFI 5 euros a day with crap reception and do make sure you activate the code within 5 hours or it gets deactivated.
The phantom furniture removals that happen all through the night every night will have your sleep interupted every few hours. Head bar staff rude without any provacation because we were All inclusive he only wanted to serve paying guests and this is where you see the true colours of this hotel EVERYTHING is money orientated. The clouds that some mention are every day some days there is no sun at all. The Hotel is geared towards Germans with there rude ways and all the staff speak fluent Deutch ya. There English is not so good unless they want your money. Entertainment is non existant facilitys well there are none. Avoid like the Plague the most boring place in the world it should be called Gods waiting room. 4 Star(you couldnt make it up)

Just back from a week in Las Aguilas. All in all we had a lovely holiday.
The hotel does look like Alcatraz & can be seen for miles around, but I don't see this as a negative- its very striking. It is very clean and tidy throughout.

We went All Inclusive and have probably put on a lot of weight due to the lovely food! Every meal was delicious with plenty to choose from .
I am a veggie but I eat fish, so there was plenty of choice but non-fish eating veggies might struggle a bit as there was often meat in most of the dishes.
The salads were fresh and plentiful as was bread, cheese & fruit at every meal. The staff regularly replenished everything throughout meal times. I believe even the fussiest eater won't go hungry.

We stayed in a suite with a jacuzzi bath- it was lovely. plenty of room and it was very clean. The bed was spacious and comfortable- it was on the harder side which we both preferred. towels were changed as & when required and we had a view of Mt Teide which was beautiful.
I took the advice of one of the comments below & ran the jacuzzi bath when we first arrived. The water was a little off-colour but this sorted it out.

The staff were lovely- always friendly , greeting you when you passed. Bastion (prob spelt wrong!) who ran the kids club & animation team was fantastic. we have no children but regularly saw how he interacted with any children there- they all loved him. I think someone needs to buy him a new CD for the nightly kiddie disco though as the same one one night after night had me singing along!

we really enjoyed the evening entertainment- particularly the Spanish & Brazilian dancers & the dog show. yes its fairly family orientated but as a 30+ year old couple we enjoyed it.

A couple of points to note-
This hotel is probably more suitable when you hire a car as even walking to the seemingly close shopping centre was hard work!

There is no bank machine in the hotel- i think there is one in the petrol station at the bottom of the hill ( its really steep) but we were told it was out of order so had to go to the shopping centre for cash.

it often gets cloudy in the afternoon but its still really warm & pleasant.

if you want a kettle in the room- just ask at reception- it isn't there as standard.

one small negative is that the hotel has no iron which i found odd! my husband had brought linen trousers for dinner ( long trousers required for men) but we quickly realised jeans were fine.

There were mostly German couples/ families in the hotel but we liked mixing with different people, so found this to be a positive.

no issues at all with getting sun beds at the pool. a word of warning though- the pool is very cold but it certainly freshens you up when you've been sunbathing for a while!

All in all a really lovely relaxing break in a lovely hotel. We'd be happy to return.

This hotel reminds me of my visit to Alcatraz. It's set on its own mini mountain and is very impressive.
It's bright modern and spotlessly clean.
Although it's such a steep hill I wouldn't fancy even walking to the road.
Hire a car is best or use the free bus to the port.
The best thing is the food which was superb.
A couple of minor niggles.
1. No free WIFI -shame on you
2. You have to pay for picnic lunches if you have a day out. No fair if you've paid for all inclusive.

If you book this hotel you won't be disappointed but bare in mind that it's much cloudier on this side of the island than the South more touristy side.
