“Value for money”
Reviewed 20 October 2011

My fiancee and I booked a week here via Teletext/ Lowcostholidays. The only issue we have had with the holiday is a dispute, which is ongoing with Teletext and Lowcostholidays, in that the price advertised on Teletext was 15% cheaper than the actual price at the time of booking and for a day after booking too! Each blames the other and have seem to forgotten the humble holidaymaker who has been disadvantaged. The Advertising Standards Authority are now investigating the issue on our behalf, as potentially a number of Tenerife holidays offered by the pair of them were being misrepresented on Teletext for at least 4 days. So treat the prices being displayed by Teletext/ Lowcostholidays as indicative only, and don't be surprised if when you phone up the price has suddenly 'just gone up'!!

In terms of the holiday itself, we booked a hire car for the week via HolidayAutos, who subbed it out to Avis - a nice VW Polo, which we collected at the airport - no hassle at all, and the same cost as the price of the transfer.

We arrived at about 10pm after a 1 1/4 hr drive. Easy to find and the hotel had plated up some cold meets, cheese and fruit in the restaurant for us, as they stop serving dinner at 9.15pm out of season.

The hotel itself is very big and a little in need of modernisation, but the rooms are big, lovely bathrooms and nice sized balconies. We had a room on the 5th floor overlooking the mountains, which was great. Beware the rooms on the ground and first few floors, as the Hotel Semparis will obstruct your sea views if of that side of the hotel, and the balconies won't be very private if you're on the mountain side on those levels.

The food was great. We were all inclusive. Large selection of hot and cold food in the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beakfast had freshly prepared omlettes and pancakes, as well as all the usual cereals, fresh fruits, cheese, salami, hot beakfast items, breads, yoghurt, etc. At dinner, there was also something freshly prepared too e.g. chicken or tuna steaks. Otherwise for lunch and dinner, there was always a big choice of salads, cold meat and fish, hot dishes, such as paella, fish, pork, turkey, pasta and vegetables. No-one went hungry!

Drinkswise, the beer is the Spanish beer, Estrella - one of my favourites. Botttles Estrella in the restaurant, otherwise on draught elsewhere in the hotel. The wines are fairly cheap, but drinkable. Soft drinks in the restaurant are bottled e.g. Pepsi, Pepsi Lite, etc. and are on syphon otherwise. All the usual spirits are freely available, albeit not the premium brand labels.

The Interpalace is opposite the Bonanza and Canarife Palace, and you have access to all 3 of them. The Bonanza bar at the front of the hotel is the nicest, especially if you get tired of the plastic cups from the pool bars and fancy a drink out of a glass!

There's a gym in the Bonanza, but not much there - a bike, some free weights, no treadmill, no rower. We took tennis racquets and played once a day, either at 8am or 6pm for an hour.

The resort is pretty quiet, with some shops and restaurants a few minutes walk away. Puerto de la Cruz is about 15 minutes walk downhill. Bit of a trek back up, but fine if you're reasonably fit. Worth a visit - it's a beautiful port with loads to do. We went on our last night instead of staying in for dinner, as we were getting bloated by food, and instead found some really cheap Spanish tapas bars round by the part of the port where the fishing boats are kept - not so glamourous but nice tapas at 3 euros a dish.

Weatherwise was great, but it's definitely cooler there than at the southern end of the island. For a day and a half we had very thick cloud, 21 degrees and no sun, so jumped in the car and headed down to a quiet part of Playas de las Americas for some 28 degree sun and heat.

If you have a car, take a drive up to El Teide - not for the faint-hearted and take some warm clothes in case you want to go up the cable car at 25 euros each, as the temperature at the summit drops to freezing temperature.

All in all, a decent, value for money, typical Spanish style holiday. Quiet resort with a mix of Spanish, Germans and English. As usual, some of the Spanish hotel staff could do with trying to crack a smile now and again, and that's even after speaking in Spanish with them. If you want something very luxurious, this isn't it - this is equivalent to a large 3 star hotel in the UK. But if you're on a budget like we were, and are after decent food, and a nice quiet beak in the sun (albeit beware of the cloud), then this is it.

My friend and I have just returned from a long weekend at the Interpalace. We arrived at 12pm and were greeted with a warm welcome, we were given a sea view room and all I can say is OMG!

The food was fabulous plenty of choice, the spirits were on a help yourself basis.

The staff were extremely friendly and would highly recommend this hotel for a chillin few days, would definately return.

Puerto Del A Cruz is a quiet resort, if you're looking for something lively then you need to go to the south, the sun shined for the 3 days and we have fab tans.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview

Me and my husband spent 11 nights in this hotel, all inclusive. The building itself isn't a new building, and neither is the furniture. When we arrived there, in was 11 o'clock in the night. Of course, the dinner was over, but we weren't hungry anyways. We got down to the pool bar and had a glass of juice and got back to our room. The room was big enough, and the bathroom was clean. That was all that counted for us. We had two twin beds. One of them got a broken leg. Next morning when we complained to the reception about our problem, they were very prompt. After we had finished our morning walk and got back to our room, the broken bed was on the hallway. The had replaced it.
In the restaurant, the waiters are very nice. They always say their usual "gracias", even if they don't have anything to thank for. The food was good, and various.
The view form our balcony was incredible. Sea view, with a large view over the coast.
The hotel is a little far from the nearest beach (20 minutes of walking). But this beach is not a good one. We used to take the bus (about 1 hour 30 minutes) to Los Cristianos, where there was an incredible beach. One round trip from Puerto de la Cruz to Los Cristianos is about 34 EUR for two persons(that is if you buy some kind of a bus ticket from the newspaper stand. It costs 12 EUR/direction and you pay the difference of 5 EUR/direction in the bus. Otherwise, you pay 50 EUR/a round trip).
Things you might not wanna miss in Tenerife: Loro Parque (it's in Puerto de la Cruz, take a cab from the hotel to the park - around 5.30 EUR), Siam Park(aquatic park, lots of slides, lots of fun) and of course, a boat trip, for those who have a good stomach. :)

Bye bye you all!

We arrived at the Blue Sea Resort as the 3 sister hotels are known (interpalace, canarife & bonanza) at 9.45pm, actually believing we had booked to stay in the canarife through low cost hols, but were allocated a room in the interpalace, which on visuals only is definately the worst of the 3. In fact I am really quite surprised how it has a 4 star rating.

On arrival we were greeted well at reception and told that Dinner was just finishing so we could go downstairs and get starting on the all inclusive help yourself. Very good service. We had some food and drink (the waiters must be told to go easy on the drinks as at Dinner you can't help yourself and they certainly don't encourage additional drinks) and then were shown to our room which was fine, modern bathroom and good sized room, with a reasonable view over to the Bonanza.

Me & my partner spent all of our time apart from eating and sleeping at the Bonanza as that is where the entertainment is and has the better facilities, the interpalace pool area is pretty mediocre and we were surprised anyone went there to be honest.

Dinner is the best meal of the day, good selection of food and beer and wine when you can get the waiters attention. Breakfast is poor. Sausages either the little continental variety or bigger low quality style, bacon full of fat, but again some variety with yoghurts, jelly, melon, avoid the fruit juice, very cheap and distasteful. There is bottle fruit juice in the fridges but this is not provided at breakfast for some strange reason (cost saving I reckon!).

Onto the weather - the worst bit. Monday morning, first day, clear blue sky, then the cloud came in Monday lunchtime and we didn't see it again for 3 days!! And that was only because we booked a trip up the volcano (worth a visit) above the cloud! Avoid Puerto de la Cruz if you are a sun lover - can't really blame the hotel for the weather though...

Entertainment is extremely mixed - we had a Spanish Elvis who was reasonable and his dance moves hilarious, and a couple of other solo singers who did a good job, on the first night we could hear the singer from our balcony and we were impressed.

The 'explosions' night entertainment was very strange and involved puppets, we were expecting a firework display but what was produced was beyond bizarre.

Credit to the entertainment team however and Stefano in particular, who is very enthusiastic, interacts with all the guests and tries to get everyone involved, give him a pay rise! Gave us some laughs he did.

Sport - resort is mostly Spanish and then German so La Liga/Bundesliga abounds, it is hard to find English football, one bar however did show some matches about 5 minutes walk away. They did not show NUFC unfortunately...

Shout out to Lucy & Liam for some good times and we met a couple Anna & Rob but only for one night, sorry we missed the first Jagerbomb night! The second one was very messy!

Final word about the resort, Puerto de la Cruz, it's seen better times, I think it needs to up it's game a bit if it's going to compete with some of the up and coming resorts in Egypt, Mexico and other longer haul places, especially as it suffers from significant cloud cover!

Room Tip: Try some basic Spanish, we did when we arrived and were given a decent enough room!

We booked this holiday just 6 days before travelling through Travel Republic. As we did not have alot of choice we read some reviews and decided to go with it. Six of us went, all inclusive, ages ranging from 17-48. Although on first impressions parts of the hotel looked a little shabby, everywhere was clean and the rooms were cleaned daily. Whilst staying at this hotel you are able to use two hotels opposite which we tended to use as pool was larger and the evening entertainment was there, however you can only use the restaurant at the Interpalace. The food was ok not fantastic but some choice and we certainly didn't starve. The hotel is situated quite high on a hill and to get down to the black sandy beach was a bit of a trek, so stayed by pool mainly. We played tennis, crazy golf, darts, football and pool. The entertainment is there if you want to join in but you need to keep an eye on the times. Although quiet area we were awoken early most mornings by traffic as hotel is in the middle of a one way system. Not many English staying here when we stayed. We didn't bother with transfers through Travel Republic and booked taxi at airport and hotel reception for return journey and saved about £100. Transfer time is approx 50 mins. Please note that we found out towards end of holiday that the south of the island tends to be sunnier. Flew with Easyjet.

We stayed here for one week through a package company. The hotel was in a good location, though walks into town and beach are very steep, when returning, though the hotel does run a free shuttle bus service. The room was spacious and the food was plentiful, good quality and fresh, and surprising variety Our main complaint was service, the staff had very little grasp of English. Our fridge was not working, and it it took four complaints for somepone to come and look at the machine, this I am sure to the fact that they did not understand what we wanted, the beds were not very comfortable.otherwise excellent stay

We booked this holiday last minute. We are a family of 3 with 7yr old. The hotel was very basic. The Food and service was limited. Not much to do in the surrounding area. Could'nt believe we went to Tenerife and didnt see the sun!! If you enjoy a sunshine break stay away from the north of the island as it is constantly overcast.
The best part of the week was a trip to Lora Park whick was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. Also the Transfers are expensive £140 for mini bus.
