“Good choice for Ciudad Real”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2013

We stayed here 3 nights and had a very pleasant stay.
It was cheap (about 37 - 45 € per night), very well located in the city center
and the breakfast, for about 7 €/ person, was excellent.
I recommend it.
Our room was kind of small and dark, facing a very small courtyard between the hotel's walls, but it was silent and good to sleep in, as the light didn't disturb us in the mornings.
The parking seemed expensive so we parked at a street nearby, one with all the night clubs, without any problems.
Wifi was complimentary, but very slow.
This hotel might need some minor renovations, but altogether, especially considering the price and location, it is a very good choice for this small city.

To be fair I suspect the hotel was in their VERY off season and so the restaurant was closed and the air conditioning not working. It was chilly in Ciudad Real that evening (5 degrees C) and so the heating was ON. Our rooms faced a (very) small "courtyard" and so were hard to cool and refresh. It was very quiet until the wee hours when a couple starting having relations in a room nearby that also had an open window facing the "courtyard". That was short-lived, thankfully, and we were also lucky that people weren't listening to TV until late. Ask for a room facing the square instead unless you're visiting in the hot season when all windows will likely be closed and A/C on. Good bathroom with bidet and lots of toiletries. TERRIBLE pillows. What is with the Spanish low and long 2-person pillow? How can 4 inches of squashy foam be expected to support your head, especially when you have to SHARE it with someone??! But the very, very excellent breakfast (included in the 45 Euro price) in the dining room the next morning made up for much of the above. Parking nearby in the public underground park is probably a better option than the hotel's small one via a lift. Make sure you know how to get to this hotel and where to park because the area is a rabbit-warren of one-way streets. I think you'd be OK to temporarily turn on to and park on the street in front of the hotel to check in (delivery vehicles use it), though the street is for pedestrians and looks like you shouldn't drive on it. If the hotel's facilities are closed the cafe/bar kitty-corner to the right as you exit the hotel is totally adequate for a beverage or snacks (and they also do meals) and you get a very nice little snack included with your drink, proper Spanish style.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms facing the courtyard when windows are likely to be open.

The Alfonso x is perfectly situated in the centre of town. We had a very quiet and adequate room which was one above their basic. Although the mattress felt like a board when you sat on it, it was actually very comfortable. The bathroom was clean with a reasonable selection of toiletries should you need them.
The breakfast buffet was lovely with a good selection of fruits, meats and pastries and also a small choice of 'hot' food although i did not try it. I do recommend the almond cake, it was excellent.
On the lower floors the carpet was very well worn which made the place look a bit tired but apart from that it was fine and very good value for money.

Room Tip: Our room at the rear of the hotel was very quiet. Rooms at the front may get some noise from the str...

This is place right in the heart of the city from where you have many possibilities just walking. It has a narrow parking but it is included with your room, so it is very convenient.

Very good option for visiting all the interesting villages and nature parks in Ciudad Real as well as for business.

The rooms are not very big, but it is quiet and comfortable.

Might be a little short in options but breakfast is very good

Room Tip: The restaurant and cafeteria are in the second floor, but it is not noisy at all

Positives:
Big bed
Lots of goodies in the room and bathroom
Great Location one minute from main square
Huge balcony
Very clean
Either very new or newly rebuilt,
Very buzzy town even in October, we went from here to Toledo and found it dead by comparison.
60 Euros good value

Negatives:
PARKING! You enter a lift that is very narrow into a car park that is very difficult to maneuver in. We have Toyota Rav and struggled. I saw this mentioned in a review and laughed, thinking the reviewer couldn't drive. They were right!

It is a really nice hotel and the staff is very, very friendly.
You are right next to the market and everything is nearby. The downside to that is, that it often got noisy in the morning.
There is wifi that you can use in your room with your own laptop.
All the rooms are non-smoking, but they used to have rooms that were smoking rooms. We first got a room where you could still smell the cold smoke, but when I asked we got a "real" non-smoking room.

Despite its location, right in the centre of town, next to the City Hall, Hotel Silken Alfonso X is well below average from what one would expect. Very poor facilities, worn-out carpets, very poor breakfast service.
The only good thing was the friendly lady at Reception.

Unfortunately the hotel scene in CIudad Real is quite limited and this is "the" hotel to stay. A real shame.
