“Good If Not Authentic”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

If you're at all interested in art, a visit to the Museo del Greco is a must-stop in Toledo. Situated in the old Jewish Quarter (and standing right above the historic Jewish Cellars, which have recently been discovered), the museum really isn't an exact replicate of El Greco's house. However, this small site will give you a good overview of the artist's life and works. The house itself is nothing special - there is no sense that anyone actually lived or worked here (compared to Rembrandt's house in Amsterdam, for example). Not many of El Greco's works are housed here, although the Apostles series is on view. Although 2014 is the Year of El Greco, the museum surprisingly did not appear to be doing anything especial for the celebration. Hint: right across from the museum is a lovely small park for relaxing with a drink or ice cream.

“What an amazing place!”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

It has been a long, long time since I visited Spain, but this is one of the places that still stands out in my mind the most as I loved every bit of it. If you love interesting, unique artwork and are growing weary of "Catedrals y Museos" of the standarr variety I can guarantee this place will not disappoint!
(I have marked my visit date as this month as it is when I am leaving my review, but in all honesty it has been years since my visit. (TripAdvisor didn't even exist back then! lol)

“A Fascinating Experience - Bravo!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

We visited on Sunday, 18 May. The El Greco museum accomplished what we believe is the primary purpose of a museum. Through a series of audio visual displays and examples of El Greco’s works, the museum succeeds in providing an education on his life, the evolution of his technique and art works. El Greco’s work is truly breathtaking and timeless and the manner in which this little museum conveys his artistic accomplishments is outstanding. It left us with an enduring appreciation for El Greco’s unique contributions to his art form. The many opportunities to sit down in the galleries and within the attractively landscaped grounds added to the joy of our experience. Allow 1+ hr. General admission: €3, Reduced: €1.50; closed Mondays.

“Toledo Treasure”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Located on the fringe of a pretty park, inside and out, Museo el Greco is a very nice place to visit to get an idea of El Greco's history, his living and development of style in painting. You see some of his earlier works and those of other Spanish painters.
