“Toledo's last stand was made here during their civil war”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

This museum is amazing, I've been here at least 10 times in the past 27 years and never get tired of visiting their war museum, the sacrifice this town made during its civil war was astounding, you definitely have to read all the letters written by the generals and the struggle they had to make during these hard times, from starvation to their woman giving birth in the dungeons to a general having to sacrifice his only son that was captured by the enemy which the enemy demanded an exchange for his son's life for the surrender of Toledo..... what a difficult decision he had to make, a true war hero at a great price...there is so much history to be seen and learned about Toledo that I highly recommend not leaving Toledo until you have visited the Alcazar...

“One of the most illogical museums ever”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

Lots of weapons and uniforms if you like that sort of thing. Could have been used to tell military history of Spain very effectively. Instead jumps about in time and space leaving you bewildered mostly.

“Fun museum, but see if you can find mention of civil war”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

There was the royalist period, a gap of 3 years, then the Nationalist period. Apparently nothing happened from 1936 to 1939.

Other than that we (adult, teen boy) liked the museum - as someone else noted it has a lot of open space, but it's a good morning's visit. As someone else noted, not much is left of the original building except a covered space in which one can gaze at foundations from walkways.

If you're only in Toledo for a day, don't stop here. Go to the cathedral, walk the streets, buy some marzipan at Convento de Santo Domingo el Antiguo.

“Great views from terrace. Confusing building. Got Lost”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

I was disappointed they did not have more info in Spanish civil war. Considering the history of the building and the role it played.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

Don't expect to see the actual Alcazar--nothing left above the ground--only a view of ruins below the ground. This military museum is arranged like a maze with a lot of empty space. Could have been much better arranged. This was not included on the Toledo Card and we had to pay separately. Would not do this again and would not recommend
