“Hight table coffee and tea”

Description: The beginning of the Landa dates back to 1959. A little restaurant was opened 2 km outside Burgos where travellers used to refresh themselves on their journey along the road which, despite its faults, was then the main route linking the capital with the north of Spain. The commitment of the Landa family to the hotel business dates back to the beginning of the 20th century with the “Real Club de Puerta de Hierro” in Madrid and “La Perla” in San Sebastián, and later with “La Gran Taberna”, also in Madrid. The Landa started out during hard times for the Spanish hotel business in non urban areas; the hotel, its various extensions, the tower, the pool, the square… were incorporated later on, little by little.

To spend an afternoon with friends having a High Table Coffee and Tea at the Landa, is a very comforting experience. Its coffee flavor is very nice and in a big coffee pot, the rosquillas to accompany delicious, the service attentive; the setting elegant and pleasant, prices are high but if you know it in advance no major surprise.

typical stop on the way north or back, it is very reknowed for its "huevos fritos con morcilla". Also has very good pastries (brioche, reinosas, etc.). Not specially healthy but delicious!

Probably our expectations were too high. We tried restaurant and the hotel. The rooms are impressive, and nicely refurbished. The staff missed out on friendliness and real hospitality. The food in the restaurant was average. We know better places in the area, so not likely to return.

When you think that the biscuits served with the coffee are the best part of the meal then there is clearly something wrong with the rest of the meal.
We had come here specifically because of the hotel and restaurant ratings but we're disappointed. My wife had the tuna salad as a starter and the main components tasted as if they came from a jar or tin. Reasonable enough taste but not even good. On the basis of other reviewers I chose the blood sausage. The presentation was awful. Eight thick slices of fried fatty black pudding on a plate with no garnish was a real turn off.
Again, based on reviews, we had the milk lamb to share. It was mediocre at best with some of the meat inedible. The accompanying vegetables at nearly 13 euros were way over priced and tasted as if they had been micro waved.
The desert of rice pudding, an apparent staple in this region, had clearly just been whipped out of the fridge and had cinnamon sprinkled on its sloppy body.
We are not hard to please but given the expectations created from trip advisor reviews we expected so much better.
If you were in the the UK this whole place is similar to a premier inn with a beefeater restaurant attached. More upmarket in terms of furnishings and decoration but still similar.
Unless you choose to drive for a meal, you are stuck with what they have to offer. The bar offered an excellent sandwich, you may consider eating there.
I do not enjoy writing poor reviews but we drove a considerable distance to come to this place and are disappointed.
The hotel itself is pleasant and our room excellent. Staff are ok but not warm and welcoming.
