“No sleep possible”
Reviewed 16 May 2013 via mobile

We checked into this hostel for our night in Leon while walking the Camino de Santiago. First it was expensive, but we assumed it would be. The room was tiny with no spare space to move in.
Even that would have been tolerable had sleep been possible. About 11 PM two women were put in the room above ours who began to argue and move furniture around as well as flush the toilet repeatedly, which sounded like a rushing stream was running through the room. This noise continued, so around 1AM I asked the front desk if they could do something. The man at the desk did not ask my room number, and said he would call them. So it was obvious he knew who these women were. Unfortunately he did nothing that stopped them, as their noise was constant until 5 AM. When we spoke to the man in the morning, he said other elderly people had also complained--and when we requested some reduction in our price for having to endure this, compensation was refused.

Stayed two nights en route on El Camino de Santiago. You cannot beat the location - any closer and it would be Cathedral property. The rest, forget it. Reception was helpful, kind of. Got the needed directions to shops, but a request to have a dripping shower faucet repaired was ignored during the entire stay. Bathroom sink had a hole in it (also mentioned to the Front Desk)- only the double-buttom made it possible to hold water. Sink faucet was of the annoying movement trigger type and cold water pressure very low. Worse yet, the bed was a cot with a spring bottom. Not what you expect, even at €40 per night. That's a rip-off! Room was right next to the elevator with very audible mechanical noises.

This is a small hotel located just off the cathedral plaza. It is not easy to find. To reach the hotel you must walk through a pedestrian area for about 300 yards then make a turn down a narrow street. Reception was some what manic and seemed over worked. The single room was very small even by European standards. Nevertheless, it was clean and the bed was comfortable.
On the plus side, you are at the cathedral square and the tourist area. The Gaudi palace is about 100 yards away and registration for the Camino de Santiago is about 5 minutes.

We were driving and had a harder time finding this hotel than any other in the month we were in Spain. Finally, we parked and used the pedestrian mode on a GPS to find it on foot and then got street directions. The hotel location was wonderful--just off the corner of one of the entrances to the large plaza in front of the cathedral and on a pedestrian street. Young and old gathered on the plaza in the evenings and adults talked while the children played. It was lovely to be part of that. The hotel was small; the room and bathroom were quite small, but adequate for a one night stay; and the breakfast was minimal. To my way of thinking, the Albany is great for a one or two night stay due to its location but would feel very cramped for a longer stay.
